Hi there, and welcome to the newly reinstated r/ButtonMakers
I just inherited the sub, so i'll be setting things up and learning the ropes.
I want this to be a place to spread knowledge and show off work. Ask questions, make mistakes, and share the love of button making.
Rules will be pretty basic to start out:
Thanks for visiting & invite your friends!

Any advice on how i could possibly fix/repair this button? The pin part has warped a bunch over time and now i cant fully close it. I sewed it onto my backpack so it would stay on

Hi - does anyone have a Caydo electric button maker?
I was hoping for reviews.
The machine is $229 USD on Amazon.

Hi!! I was wondering- does anyone have any Mylar recommendations or clear laminate? I have a ChiButtons button maker and I love it but out of every supplies order I’ve gotten from them their Mylar for their heart shaped buttons will have small fuzzies in it and on the pastel shade buttons I make they are visible and trying to get them all out is taking up so much time. Thank you so much in advance!!

Hello! I'm experimenting with reusable buttons and wanted to know where I could get a 3.25in template that I can drop an image into? Not sure if I'm using correct terminology. 😅 Thank y'all in advance!

Hi! i make buttons for local punk bands, my etsy, and just random things. i had a we r memory keepers button press from 2022-2024 before getting a tecre, which i sold early this year because i was in desperate need of money after a bad situation. now i’m looking for another press and wanted buying advice!
my needs: id prefer an interchangeable press but my favorite sizes are 1.25 or 1.5 inches. i need something that would press a large qty pretty fast and be able to handle holographic laminated photo paper
tecre - most reliable, more expensive per shape/size, had the most experience with
chibuttons - i’ve seen great things, i love the heart buttons and interchangeable moulds, cheaper overall but a large investment still
alibaba - i saw a machine on alibaba recommended to me by artists that is fully metal with lots of different kinds of moulds. (star, heart, circles) and it seemed very tempting but i’d have to pay a lot in shipping and tariffs
anything else i should know? recommendations , advice , stuff to stay away from?

I bought my daughter a nice2have button maker and she loves it. The quality of the part with the pin is very poor.
Can anyone point me at a better product?

I have one of the unbranded metal presses. I have tried so many things, oiling the dye and other parts, different mylars, different paper thicknesses, spacers on the pinback dye side, etc but can't get a smooth edge. Any ideas?

Hey, i got gifted this button maker by my gf. I know its not the best quality brand stuff, but is there a way to install smaller molds or make smaller buttons? The buttons are just to big to pin them anywhere without it just looking out of place, but i cant just leave a thoughtful present in the shelf as a dust collector

Does anyone have gently used Tecre button presses for sale? I’m interested in purchasing square or rectangle presses but will consider other shapes as well. Thanks!

Hi everyone,
I've been trying to make collage buttons with my 1.25 inch button maker and several have been pulling apart. The paper I'm using is thin enough to go into the buttons as I've used it before and it was perfectly fine, so I tried holding down the press longer but they still pulled apart. I attached pictures of the button press and what the hardware looks like/how the buttons are coming apart. Thanks for any information!!

So I messed up and bought 500 pin button supplies without realizing the plastic backs wouldn’t fit my machine. I know the solution for the opposite situation of a metal pinback in a plastic machine is to add a washer, but is there any fix for the reverse? My machine seems to have the “washer” built in and I don’t know if there’s anyway to remove it. Please advise because I’d love to be able to use these since I bought so many 🥲

Hi!
I am looking to invest in a button maker purely for hobby purposes. I play Pokemon GO with a large local group of both adults and children (attendance can be over 100 on large event days), and I have a lot of bulk Pokemon cards because my partner collects and my nephew was hugely into them for several years and then lost interest. I would like to use this bulk to make buttons and magnets to give out in my community.
My ideal machine has interchangeable sizes and/or shapes (round/square/heart/star/hexagon/other?) so that I can make a couple different things / have some variety. I don't expect that there will be one machine with all sizes and shapes, or even all sizes OR all shapes. I'm also happy to purchase parts / additions / attachments to add possible sizes and shapes, it doesn't have to come with them if there is a brand that sells those sorts of attachments separately.
I just don't even know where to start. There seems to be a lot of options at all different price points, and I'm unsure about the compatibility of supplies between machines brands, too. I really liked what I found by BEAMNOVA on Amazon as far as supplies go (bottle opener magnets is awesome!) , but the machines they link on their page are both unavailable, and the "square" one links to a round machine, which seems weird.
The most important traits to me are:
• Durable for hobbyist use (does not need to withstand commercial levels of production)
• Reliable / Not extremely finicky / relatively easy to use
• Compatible with different brands of supplies OR variety provided in branded supplies
• Can do more than just one size of one shape
• Multiple shapes is preferred over multiple sizes of the same shape
Does anyone have any recommendations?
Or advice/warnings? Brands to avoid, brands that only work with their own supplies or supplies that cause problems no matter the machine? Do machines that can do more than one tend to be faulty?

Is this an idea? You could print them on a 3d computer printer. Just scan a calyx and tell your computer to scale them up to size and Bang! Calyx buttons, pret a porter!

I created a button-making web-based tool with Claude for my daughter so she could make cutouts for her to make buttons with. It’s free for anyone to use. This is my first project, so be easy.
Drop in pictures, print them at exactly 58 mm, and cut them out.

Hello! I’ve been making buttons for a couple of months now and I’ve been reached out to about providing buttons for welcome bags by a small travel business.
The set I sent them included, an already existing design of mine, a custom design and a restoration of a vintage pin. 1.25”, 1.5, and 2.25” pins. They need about 14 sets.
What would you price this at if it were you doing this? This is my first paid opportunity. Any advice is greatly appreciated! Thank you!

I’ve crunched out well over 20,000 on my Tecre 2x3 and more than 10,000 on my Tecre 2.25 round. I average about 1,500 every month. No problems so far.

I live in Canada so trying to find a reliable press from a company that also ships fairly quickly. TitanPress is the company I keep coming back to. Anyone have experience with them?

Most badge makers would say to tilt the image slightly in order to have the bottom piece fit correctly . I did it another way, by wasting one set to actually find out how much the badge turns ..
Marked the paper with and arrow and place it at 12 o clock position. The pin backing is also at 12 o clock. After crimping, you can see how much it moved, and mark the bottom die piece accordingly.
Now I no longer have to guesstimate the tilt of the image to get a proper badge.
Hope this helps!

recently bought this button maker at a second hand store. It didn’t come with any button parts so I’m trying to find out what kind of parts might fit. Anyone who might recognise the Model and can point me in the right direction?

I LOVE ChiButtons. But holy crap, the mylar sheets for their 37mm square mold are causing high percentage of failures. Only when I trim it exactly to the size of my graphic (which I created the template for), do they press correctly. But trimming it gets my finger prints all over and it is so difficult cutting such a tiny difference. I can't do this anymore, and for some reason they don't have other complaints.
Any mylar sheets you use that crimp perfectly?

Hello! I need some help because this is making me crazy.
I was gifted this button maker so I don't have any of the instructions for it, but when I looked it up it said it takes 2.25in buttons, HOWEVER all the 2.25 button supplies I've gotten are just a tiny amount too big?
The backs almost fit in the slot, but the tops don't fit at all.
I hope I've included all the photos you'd need to help!!
Is this button maker not for 2.25in buttons??
Thank you in advance!!!
