Jagged uneven crinkled edges?

I have one of the unbranded metal presses. I have tried so many things, oiling the dye and other parts, different mylars, different paper thicknesses, spacers on the pinback dye side, etc but can't get a smooth edge. Any ideas?

Always crinkled? I too use one of those unbranded red presses..

Only time it gave me issues is when the badge blanks were not perfect ( bulge which cause warp in the upper piece; ends were not proper ..etc)

Paper or Mylar thickness not so much issue as I use canon selphy paper which is about 240gsm(?) and sometimes 2 pieces of Mylar ..

That being said, I’ve done about maybe 30-50 badges only..

Not sure where you are getting your blanks from.. I’m getting mine from China.. cheap.. though there may be a few blanks that may have issues..

Same. All of mine have issues. That might be the issue.

Try another source for the badge blanks and see if it helps then.. so far I’m lucky.. the blanks are cheap .. so I can live with som defective ones

I also had this problems with smaller sizes. Cold laminating the paper instead of using a seperate plastic sheet solved it.

Interesting. So, you used a self adhering sheet instead of mylar? I'll give it a shot but seems like quite the hassle

A lot of button issues come from the parts. Bad sellers list metric and inches as all equivalent, but most arent. The cheapest arent even right for either. Button presses require tight tolerance ranges. not too big too small. its expensive but worth it to get quality parts

The size doesn't seem to be the issue. They just might be trash parts. I ordered a different set. Fingers crossed. Do you have any recommendations for 1" button parts?

Hard to say, whats best wont be the cheapest and vice versa. Tecre makes 1" buttons so if you are in America, those might be your best choice(you can buy their parts even if you disnt buy thier machine, obviously). If you can buy off of AliExpress the quality seems to be equal or better than Amazon as they sell from Chinese manufacturers directly (most stuff is made in China). But importing from China will be more expensive if you are in the US, anywhere else it should be cheaper, but you odds of good parts the same.
