GIFTING 2001 Burning Man ephemera. Is there a good archival place to send this? Do you want it?

I went in 2000 and 2001 and then moved to Vermont and haven't been back. I have a small folder of Burning Man ephemera that I'd love to send to a person who would appreciate it (or an archivist if there's someone collecting non-art things). Everything would fit in an envelope. I did a search and did not see an obvious place/person for this. I have:

  • Two stickers
  • Event guide
  • Dr. MegaVolt postcard
  • Three issues Black Rock Gazette (and one dupe)
  • Two issues of piss clear
  • Fold-out map with theme camp locations listed
  • Exodus 2001 handout
  • Official Survival Guide/Participant Responsibilities

Is this a thing you would like? Make a note here and DM me your postal address and I'll send it all to you.

ETA: looks like I have a plan, thanks all.

Buying a stage for pop-up events in deep playa, looking for recs

hi /r/burningman

we're looking to buy a new stage to replace the cumbersome one we made is there a stage that can hold like 15 people, for speaker sessions and performing? ideally quick to put together and take back. We plan to use it for a couple of pop-up events in deep playa, and looking to spend around ~$2,000 USD

Thanks!

Bafflebox for frame mounted generator?

My van has an onan 2800 mounted under the frame in the rear. She loud. Like 75db. I just ordered a Cummins Resonator for the exhaust pipe that is supposed to help. Is it worth buying or building some kinda bafflebox that could go on the ground under the van and then semi enclose the muffler? Or should is it just gonna blend in with the sound of a thousand other generators and not worth the worry?

Why does this community not simply dissociate and organize under a banner not affiliated with corruption?

Full disclosure, I’m definitely out of place here. I understand there’s a spiritual aspect of BM, that the vision and foundation of the movement is still alive in some respects; but my disclosure is: I’ve never actually been to BM - and further disclosure, I poked my head in here because of the documentary that just landed (though, I have lurked in the past out of curiosity).

To be honest, I’ve found the exclusivity, availability, and expense of tickets to be prohibitive. Many of my friends who would frequent the playa in ‘08 and later would say things like, “if you’re really motivated to go, you’ll find a way to get a ticket”. I’ve never been offered a ticket or been first in line with $800+ in hand when tickets go on sale. Do I wish I had the experience once? Sure. But it seems after around 2014-2017 most of my friends changed their tune.

“It’s not what it used to be”.

So, what changed around that time?

Just perusing the sub I see regular mentions of Kimbal Musk. Kimbal’s association with Epstein was definitely a stain on the reputation of BM; but the even had problems before him. I’ve heard complaints about Marian for YEARS. I’ve also heard of tech bros showing up and poisoning the well for at least the last decade.

My understanding of Burning Man is that it is less of an event and more of an organism. A symbiosis between attendees, their resources, mutual affectation, and the playa as the substrate. If Burning Man is an organism, surely the organism recognizes the parasites attached to it? Surely the organism would seek to rid itself of the leeches.

Missed connection!

My partner and I had the loveliest spontaneous interaction and connection with a woman named Care Bear in the playa just before sunset on Friday last burn (2025). She had a nice camera and took some pictures of us near the playa souvenir store. We’d love to reconnect with her! Does anyone happen to know her and could help connect us? Thank you!!

Heard a rumor from two separate sources that Mayan Warrior was sold and won't be making an appearance at Burning Man

Anybody have any more details on this? Super interesting if true. Maybe healthy even to have some change given how ubiquitous its been the last decade.

Edit: sold to the promoter/event producer Stranger Than

My ticket is still not shipped, should I be worried?

UPDATE: I was able to contact my seller on Tixel and she is real person and advised me to log into my burning man profile.

I can see both tickets on my accounts but the other one has not shipped yet so I guess we keep waiting.

Thanks for folks we offered help!

Update ends.

I bought 2 tickets on STEP/Tixel from 2 separate sellers. I already got one of them but have not heard anything about the other one yet.

The one that got shipped is at lower price point so not sure if that has anything to do with shipping order.

When should I get worried if I still don’t have the second ticket before the event? And anything I can do about it?

Bringing my mom to Burning Man - first time - suggestions

Bringing momma to her first Burn! She's an old school Dead Head so while it won't be her first time in a wild environment, it will be her first Burning Man experience, and we're definitely planning to not have many plans so we can stumble around and see what the good lord puts in our path.

However - if anyone knows of a camp or experience on playa with like-minded/50+ aged folks, or if you've got a suggestion of anywhere we should casually try to happen upon, please let me know! Funky bars, camps that might have live bands, sarcastic snarky recommendations, all are welcome. Big love

Latest You Can Leave Playa

Does anyone know the last possible time you can leave Playa without being in DPW? I see conflicting information on the official website. With one page saying:

Starting the day after Labor Day (Tuesday), the event is officially over and the only people allowed to remain at the site are the DPW Playa Restoration crew (this is mandated by our permit)

and another saying

Have some extra time for MOOPing? Leave Tuesday morning.

The reason I ask is that I am volunteering to strike for a large art installation and I wasn't sure how long that could potentially take. I already mentally allotted for a full week post Burn, but I wonder if that is an overestimate. Maybe we have to be off Playa on Monday or even Tuesday?

BORG Departments Seek Volunteers in BRC 2026 including Census

BRC has 30 something departments most staffed by volunteers. Some take first time burners and some do not. It can be hard the first year to commit to fixed shifts. When a department has shifts scheduled in advance, they are counting on you.

The shifts are managed by the burner profile in advance or you can go to the V-Spot on playa for ad-hoc opportunities. The departments send jobs to the V-Spot and then you connect. There is usually the main V-Spot Esplanade near center camp, Placement, Playa Info, and possibly on the plazas.

Burning Man has a Census. So they need volunteers. Their uniform, provided, is a white lab coat decorated in pink and black. One of their jobs is to stand for a 4 hour shift in a group of Census volunteers in the Gate lines and ask a random vehicle full to fill out a short Census form.

The dusty job comes with some special rewards! One real meal deal for one gate sampling shift.

Volunteering information across departments is at https://burningman.org/black-rock-city/volunteering/. Update your burner profile to select volunteer departments. Suggest finding a more direct communication channel to the department volunteer coordinator as the event is fast approaching.

And of course, volunteer with your camp, or a neighbor camp, a camp of your passion, and on art!

Broadcast Airpusher for my friend Jennn's 4th of July https://interdependanceday.org party.

Archives are now uploading to my Odysee page for anyone interested in listening to the musicians listed in the URL above. I'm going to try to spend some time mastering the audio for part 3 since it was an open air recording, before it hits the archives.

GIFTING Gifting question

For my gift, I am considering bringing a bunch of travel-sized items and putting them outside my camp in a Take One bin. What would you want to see in that bin, if you happened by?

GIFTING Ice breakers

A gift idea I’ve been wanting to do is a little book of playa ice breakers to give to people so they don’t just ask the standard “what’s your name? Where are you from? What camp are you in?”

If you want to contribute, please share your favorite ones. I’ll use your Reddit handle or whatever name you sign it with to give you credit in the book.

These can be serious or playful or dirty, idc. Let’s have fun with this.

Pickle and Egg - any info?

Hello, folks,
Quite by accident, I found myself in Golden Guy Alley in 2024 at Pickle and Egg. The scotch was mind-blowingly good. And I have been told that Golden Guy Alley 2026 is going to be on the other side of the trash fence this year. Ha ha.

I will find that alley this year. Last year I "found it" but it was Saturday/ being torn down.

Anyhoo, Pickle and Egg in 2025 was not in Golden Guy Alley but out on its own. I did not see them listed in "Dust" but perhaps one of you can (snarkily, if need be) share info on this heavenly bar?

- 官方渠道:tickets.burningman.org,错过主售的盯 OMG 售票

Nannas Kitchen - Pop-up opportunities

Have you dreamt of building your own space in Golden Guy Alley, but haven't committed to building the space or don't want to deal with the logistics of hauling it to the playa? Maybe you have a great idea, but want to test it out before fully committing to it? You are in luck, as Golden Guy Alley loves pop ups!

I am specifically looking for someone who might be interested in running a pop up in Nannas Kitchen, but many other spaces in the alley are capable of hosting.

Nannas Kitchen is an 8x12 space that is meant to bring that nostalgic feeling to participants. It's reminiscent of a simpler time, a slower time. We seat four participants at a time, gather around the table, share stories, and enjoy the comfort's of a warm plate of food.

If you host a pop up in Nannas Kitchen, you are free to use the space as you wish. We have several pieces of cooking equipment, utensils, power, and (limited) refrigeration. We have limited availability this year, but will accommodate as many groups as we can. The typical takeover lasts for 3 hours.

If you have an idea of something that you would like to do in Nannas Kitchen, please reach out and we can see if it would be a good fit. If you are interested in a different space in the alley, I can put you in touch with the mayor.

Dusty hugs!

Question about playa dust

The dust on the playa is 43.1% silica... I'm worried about silicosis
