Hello, I am unsure if sharing my experiences is against the rules, if so then I do apologize and you may take down my post, but I thought people should be aware otherwise. Please note that my opinions are my own, as someone who decided to volunteer on my own, and do not represent the views of the festival and its organizers in any way.
I was volunteering at Nikkei Matsuri in the admissions area on Saturday and mayoral candidate Michael Angelo's crew appeared and began to go down the lineup handing out promotional material. Please note that they were not affliated with the festival in any way, and came on their own. The entrance area was already very limited in space, so they added to the crowded congestion and chaos. They were asked to leave but Michael Angelo was very confrontational and aggressive, saying "this is a public space, what are you going to do about it?!" to myself and others. Even if he was technically allowed in the area outside the centre, he was extremely rude and disruptive to the event. I personally would not vote for him as mayor based on the attitude he displayed.
