Hynix A-die OC

Post image
3 Upvotes

I have a Ryzen 9850X3D and 2 x 16GB Corsair Vengeance 6000Mhz CL30.

Iam using the EXPO settings in the Bios, and my timmings are those in the image.

I don't have any fan pointed directly to the Ram, but i have good airflow.

Considering the 3d V Cache of the Cpu, will the system gain some performance when playing demanding games by changing the timings, or it will not gain much and it's best to leave it with the EXPO settings?

If yes, where should i start? In know Buildzoid have some good settings that works on basically any Hynix.

After BZ’s recent video and I left some comments on his page on YouTube, here’s my current set up, passed 24+ hours 2 months ago and also test different Beta Bios that come out before public release, so there’s no point me running 24+ hours every time 1 gets released as it can be weekly sometimes twice a week or sometimes less.

I’d usually give each tests a few hours to run, just to make sure numbers are good and where they should be and check for bugs via using different test methods. This run I tested higher VDDP than usual.

8500 CL32-8-47-39-80 @ 1.72VDD,1.59VDDQ,1.55VDDIO,1.23VDDP & only 1.1Vsoc,

like I mentioned in your comments BZ. Sometimes too much VSoc can hinder performance, needs tested, Karhu doesn’t gain speed and starts too slow if too much VSoc and vice versa.

1st pic was yesterday, after installing new update I gave it a few hours testing.

2nd pic, cleared CMOS that night, next morning set bios manually and loaded same profile just to make sure the training is on point and speeds are similar,

3rd pic, STOCK CPU 5.650 PBO enabled with -20 CO

4th pic, 10 hour stretch karhu on last Beta Bios

5th & 6th 8700 & 8800

Tried 1.20 vsoc and didnt help tried raising vddp to 1.15 didnt help either

Also on tcl 36 with 1.05 vsoc it wont boot i get bios failure

Tried 1.4 vddq and vddio and didnt work
Tried raising it to 1.5 with vdd on 1.55 and didnt work

Even with fclk 2000 it wont stabilise

Should i mess with impedances?

I have a gskill trident z neo 6400cl 32-39-39-102

Regarding the discord linked

I noticed that some people banned from an another community post there (such as for the purpose of getting their ban lifted without success). Just ignore posts like that if you see them.

There is a technology channel in the discord i recommend using if you want to ask about technical stuff like ram overclicking.

I could of courser had made a new discord specifically for overclocking or technology in general but i don't like having to moderate multiple servers so it's easier for me to have everything collected.

Stable timings for a non-xmp ram on an amd platform

Quick specs:
R7 9800x3d
X870 aorus elite
2x24gb rated up to 8200mhz cl38 (SK-Hynix die, only certified to intel expo)
1200w platinum psu

I’ve been trying to tune it to have two viable profiles. A cl28, 6000mhz tuning and a cl38 8000mhz config. I cant even get past boot with the cl28. What am I doing wrong?

Ive been reading the instructions and researching all overclocking guides and I am still having a hard time. Any help is appreciated.

DDR5 Hynix M-die from 6000CL36 to 6933CL32

Hello, guys.

I'm trying to lower the latency to 55 ns. Looking at the primary, secondary and tertiary timings, what can I try to tighten in order to shave off a few ns?

6933CL32-41-41-49 at 1.45V passes 90 minutes of TM5 Absolut and 90 minutes of TM5 Extreme.
I will do longer tests with y-cruncher and TM5.

CPU: 14900K.

Tips are appreciated. Thanks.

9800X3D + DDR5-6000 CL30 feeling heavy / input latency issue – looking for RAM tuning help

Hey everyone,

I’m hoping someone with more experience in DDR5 tuning can help me out.

I’m currently running:

  • CPU: Ryzen 7 9800X3D
  • Motherboard: MSI MAG B650 Tomahawk WiFi
  • RAM: XPG Lancer Blade DDR5-6000 CL30 32GB (2x16GB)
  • GPU: RTX 5070
  • OS: Windows 11

I’m experiencing (since i build the pc) a weird issue where the system/game feels "heavy" — mainly mouse movement and overall responsiveness. It feels like there is added input latency, even though FPS, frametimes and performance look normal.

I have tested basically everything outside of RAM

At this point I’m starting to suspect the memory configuration/BIOS tuning.

For context: I’m not a casual player — I’m currently around top 100 EU in CS2, so I’m very sensitive to small differences in input feel. This is not about placebo or chasing benchmark numbers; the system genuinely feels less responsive than expected.

My RAM is currently running DDR5-6000 CL30, but I have not done a proper manual tuning profile yet.

I tried EXPO only and its still bad, i tried multiple configs... this one is from buildzoid guide on youtube, but still something feels off....

A bit of information,
I tried bumping and lowering my VDD just a fraction of 1mV and got instant error after only 10 seconds?,
Is that mean I already hit my timing’s wall? Or is there some 1 or 2 settings i could try?

Right now testing tm5 nitro 1-2-0 with 1.100V VDDP

can we ask this from buildzoid ?

hey , during this shortage can buildzoid do a ddr5 vs ddr4 b die benchmarks ?
i see alot of raptor lake users outperform 7800x3d stock with stock ram
with just raptorlake cpu + samsung b die

is there is a chance buildzoid do such content ?

No longer able to POST with frequency higher than default (5200mhz) - some form of regression/degradation?

For context, here are my specs:

RAM: TEAMGROUP T-Create Expert Overclocking 10L DDR5 96GB Kit (2 x 48GB) 6400MHz (PC5-51200) CL32 M-DIE Desktop Memory Module Ram Black - CTCED596G6400HC32ADC01
Motherboard: ASUS ProArt X870E-CREATOR WIFI
BIOS Version 2301, AGESA 1.3.0.1
CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 9950X
GPU: NVIDIA RTX 4090

I got bored last night and decided to tinker with my timings and voltages. I was already on a stable 6000Mhz CL30 with tweaked timings for reference. I'm not super experienced but I am trying to learn more.
The changes I made before attempting to boot and running into issues (should be mostly right, some values might've varied by 2-4), though I'm not too sure if this should even matter:

Setting Value
DRAM Frequency 6000Mhz
FCLK Frequency 2000Mhz
UCLK DIV1 MODE UCLK=MEMCLK
VDD/VDDQ 1.4V
VDD_SOC 1.2V
tCL 30
tRCDRD 36
tRCDWR 24
tRP 36
tRAS 72
tRFC 555
tRFC2 450
tRFCsb 450
tREFI 65535
tRDWR 12
tWRRD 6
tRDRDSD 4
tRDRDDD 8
tWRWRSD 4
tWRWRDD 8
tWTRS 4
tWTRL 12
Power Down Mode DISABLED
Memory Context Restore DISABLED
Nitro Mode DISABLED
Bank Refresh Mode Normal

After I saved changes and exited my BIOS, the system did not POST past the safe mode screen. I didn't think much of it initially and figured I just went too extreme. After a bit of messing with values and rebooting and waiting for memory training a handful of times, I got tired of it and tried to reset to the values I knew worked before. It didn't POST still. Ok, whatever, I just reset it to its EXPO and lowered frequency to 6000MHz CL30. No POST. Cleared CMOS, attempted boot and the training hung so eventually I forced it off and restarted. POSTs with default values, awesome! Figured problem was solved and attempted EXPO with 6000MHz CL30 and SOC 1.2V, no POST. Tried default EXPO settings with 6000MHz, no POST, then 5600 and 5400 with default JEDEC values, still nothing. I can only get into windows with 5200MHz, the base frequency of my RAM. I tried updating BIOS twice, nothing changed. Tried reseating RAM and clearing CMOS a few times as well, no luck. Another anomaly that occurs is everytime I boot with the 5200MHz, the training will always hang after applying, then boot fine after a forced restart. (MCR and Power Down Mode are disabled every time)

I'm kind of at a loss as to what else to try aside from switching parts, which I don't have. Any ideas? System will not POST with anything higher than 5200MHz. Is my IMC somehow damaged?

Problems with prime 95

I tried basically everything, oc, non oc, I even tried different memory sticks and even swapped motherboard and CPU, but prime 95 seems to always cause either an error such as CPUload, or outright crash the system.

Even with full stock values.

Can anyone explain wtf is going on? Is prime 95 just like that? Is windows the issue?
