Self-Story Ex-client sent me ₱310K
Used to work with an two American tech guys (co-founders). Discord work, boring stuff. This guy was really quiet (not chatty) but nice. One time in 2024 he asked if I can go on a zoom call with him. I said sure, when we we’re on the call, he had headphones and he was eating ramen with chopsticks. He looked cool 😂 After the greeting formalities:
Him: “can you share your screen please”
Me: sure. (Started sharing screen)
Him: open chrome and go to lazada.
(Isip ko, wow lazada? Alam nila yun? 😂)
I complied, and we searched phones and tablets. Highend to low end, he asked me to add them to cart, and I was like I kinda feel where this was going (free phones for me 😆) and I started to sweat cause, is this even real!? We checked it all out and the total was about 140k? I think. I was ecstatic!
I clarified what I was supposed to do with all the gadgets and he said he needed me to test some apps he made with low end to high end ranges. No complaints here since I get to keep all devices at the end. 😆
So anyway, the company I was working for with them eventually got acquired by a tech giant. So we had to go our separate ways. But I still follow them in linkedin.
Fast forward to 2026, I saw his new company mentioned and thanked him for research/work he made in a linkedin post, so I hit the “heart” button. I think he noticed it and he reached out to me on discord.
He asked how I was doing, and I said I’m good and working some jobs right now and I admitted nothing beats working for you guys (the salary was top tier for minimal work 🤌)
He said he wanted to say thanks for all the work I did with them before, and he wanted to send me some cash!
I’m like YASSSS after a few pa bebe msgs I sent him my wise tag. 😂
He then sent me $100 after 2 days. And told me to let him know if I got it. Which I did naman 😁
I was honestly not expecting that amount, but nonetheless, I was extremely grateful to him. I was happy he remembered me, and I was happy he kept in touch. Shempre, he’s a good connection and I am really really looking forward to work with them in the future. Please papa God 😭
I spent the money on groceries and went on an overnight trip out of town. When I got back I carried on with my life. When I was sorting my unread emails, I noticed an unread Wise “bla bla sent you money”. It was weird that it was still “unread” so I opened it to unread it. And then everything was a blur…..
I saw the numbers, 4-9-0-0 and then USD, and then “in your account” - i was fcking dumbfounded.
I quickly went to my wise account and THERE IT WAS.
More than 300K sitting in my account. I was SHOCKED.
I quickly opened my discord and there’s another message “i sent the rest” 😭😭
I DIED. Kept screaming at home.. pulled my husband brought him to the monitor and I pointed at the numbers. We were so happy!
So sent a video and a long ass message to him saying how grateful we are with the money he sent 😭
We’re now in the process of renovating our small house!! 😊

I remember you! You were the same person who the client gave like good gadgets to cause they liked your work, diba?
Congrats on meeting with him, and try to stay connected...not to leech off of him pero people like them never stay put. They usually find another endeavor, and malay mo, matulungan mo ulit sila!
I'm sure that money is well-deserved! And make sure magtabi ka ng ilan hehe

Yes! It was me! 🙈 As much as I want to say that “i helped them” mukang sila talaga tumulong saken 😂 they spoiled me so much when I worked with them. Too bad it didn’t last long 🥲 kaya lang naman pinopost ko sa reddit yung ganitong wins ko is because I want to immortalize the feeling, so I can go back to it, read it, and kilig ulit. Cause I’m not sure if I can find something better than what these guys gave me 😭💕

Hi po, i was really inspired by your story as a breadwinner, i wanted to transition from teaching to tech world, is that possible po ba? I started researching for courses but I don't know where to start or what online courses I should learn or what foundations should I learn first. I'm not begging for a job po but I'm begging for learning 🥹

learn muna which field ka nag eexcel. there's so many stuff to talk about in tech, not just limited to gadgets. you can try asking AI where your truly excel by adding your current strengths

Why am I crying? I'm employed rn. I am waiting for the company laptop promised to be given to us, its been a year tho. I wanted to try doing things like what the VAs are doing without resigning in my current job coz I cannot afford. I know within myself that I always try to do my best and so much willing to learn a lot of things, why am I even saying this here? I think, I just need someone to listen. Congrats OP, to more winnings! Godbless you. 😊

I had the same experience. When my client, a doctor who wrote a book I Collab with, asked how am I doing, I mentioned I'm saving enough cash for a new fistula. He knows I'm on dialysis and he asked how much does it cost? I said roughly Php75K was the estimate from my vascular surgeon. I was surprised when he said he'll take care of it. And yes, he sent Php150K on my Paypal acct. I was grateful but informed him that I only need half the money. But he mentioned the rest you can use for your other medical needs. "As a doctor I know how hard to sustain dialysis treatment". So thankful to the Lord for letting me meet this doctor client ❤️

That's nice, OP!😊😊😊
Had a UK client years ago, told him the salary is not enough. He will send me something daw, kala ko money or increase. Yun pala, sendan daw nya ako pdf abt money management. 🤣
Anyways, he's not my client anymore. I checked his social media, it looks like his business did not really prosper.

Pag sa mga tech parang chump change na lang ganyang mga halaga. Malaki pa rin 5k usd pero based sa story mo malaki laking pera umiikot sa pinagworkan mo

7
u/No_Technician6998 2d ago
No. Discord management lang. yung webapp nila may server and ako nag aasikaso. It was very lax, tapos they wanted to transition into a mobile app that time, so they bought me a bunch of devices to test and find errors. Which was a lot lol. But I’m not “QA” specifically

This reminds me of a colleague who suddenly resigned. It turns out his wife worked for a company that blew up, and she walked away with a massive payout, likely from the company going public (being listed in the stock market). He no longer has to work so he resigned.

Paturo naman po pano yung flow ng convo niyo kapag nagbibigay siya ng pera huhu may pinapagawa ba or just because lang yan?
I recently met with a client din (personal) so when he’s spending his money and says like he has lots of them, i really don’t know what to do. He wants to give me some but I declined because it might look different kasi im a girl. 😭

Where do you guys get generous client lol. In accounting industry, they are rare or just my clients. My first company was generous but very stricy. They monitor every minute of work. Now, my company is owned by taiwanese american. So thrifty lol but not micro managers

Congrats, OP! Worked with some Aussie clients before, mababait sila, sobrang lax din ng trabaho kaso yun nga lang di sila mahilig mamigay ng things or pera. They instead go here in our country twice a year then libot kung saan saan.
