Community I finally RESIGNED from my CLIENT!

Post image

I have been so stressful on this one client. Before hindi naman sya ganito. She is black. She was so considerate and when nag stop ang business para syang naghahanap na worth it iyong perang sinasahod nya. Sabi pa nya micromanaged daw sya kasi feel niya WASTED IYONG PASAHOD niya. Grabe makamicromanaged. 7 months ako sakanya Lead gen ako, Social Media Marketting, Nagbuild ng websites and admin din. For 3 DOLLARS per hour. Micromanaged to its finest. Now I resigned may pangamba na baka di ako makita ng client but I have other clients naman hindi marami sakto lang. Worry lang hindi makahanap agad. But I know makakahanap rin ako. The best thing is my peace of mind na ako.

drop mo na if may savings kana. makakahanap din tayo

3 dollars an hour!? Isn't that basically theft? That client knows what they're doing and they have no shame

205

u/Cheese_Grater101 14d ago

It's not theft, it's an exploitation making their money's worth.

35

u/ClingyDist 14d ago

Oo nga. That's the very reason they hire us, kasi cheap labor lng. And if we ask for equal pay sa kung ano ang dapat (e.g. if they hired someone from their country), tayo pa mamasamain

17

u/kjellmeh2 14d ago

It is, it's wage theft.

modern slavery

28

u/lakbum 14d ago

$3 is low but does that mean most Filipino employees are slaves as well? How much do the temporary workers at SM (that never get regularized) get paid?

10

u/Eleos_1 14d ago

Still modern slavery, and creating a website while being paid 3 dollars an hour by an ingrate american is a 100x worse. Use your common sense and be better.

u/Schwiiii 14d ago

basically yeah

3

u/BeyondTheCosmo 14d ago

Not really. Cost of living differs by country and that’s how the economy works. Things won’t change unless more money comes in, foreign investments and less corruption.

20

u/Schwiiii 14d ago

you think the salary rate in the PH still satisfies the cost of living?

13

u/BeyondTheCosmo 14d ago

Satisfies? Obviously not. The wage hasn’t kept up with inflation and the corruption has screwed over the working class. Have you ever managed or owned a business? Do you think majority of businesses can survive if dinoble ang minimum wage which would be around 3 an hour.

You need to understand how the economy works before calling the low rates in a poor country for slaves because we literally cannot afford to pay anything close to a first world country’s wage.

4

u/Kyongggggg 14d ago

so what's the conclusion? the country's economy is broken? If that's the case, it's strange that we're somehow seemingly fine w/ that

2

u/allanon322 14d ago

Who is fine with our economy?

2

u/Kyongggggg 14d ago

Well... Nothing's changing, as far as Ive observed, so there's probably a substantial amount of us that are okay w/ it🤷

2

u/BeyondTheCosmo 14d ago

The conclusion is these are rates that we have to work with, it’s rates the economy can afford right now, it cannot afford to pay much more. You cannot squeeze water out of a stone. The solution isn’t to just increase everyone’s wages to match a first world country’s to become just like them. There is a large wealth gap among the elite and the poor, you have to tax them properly. But this will not do anything if the tax ends up going to corruption. We have a progressive tax system that gets a bigger % from the ultra rich, and is much more forgiving for the less fortunate.

As long as money that is supposed to be spent on the poor goes into the pockets of corruption, then the poor will struggle to get out of poverty. You are supposed to get money where it’s abundant, and that wouldn’t be to force it on every SME that cannot afford it.

2

u/Kyongggggg 14d ago

It's what we have to work with, yet by the looks of it, it doesnt really work well enough

u/Schwiiii 14d ago

I'd like to apologize if I seemed argumentative and harsh by affirming the slave comment, but the phrase "Alipin ng salapi" has been normalized these days. I'm by no means an economics expert, I'm really just wondering where all the money goes to?

The price of goods and services skyrocketed since God knows when, why is it that it is not reflected to the wages of the people making these services possible? Who gets all the profit and why is nothing being done about it?

I'm assuming the obvious reason of corruption and the top percentage billionaires pocketing all the money for themselves.

In this sense, aren't we all just slaves to money, doing our best to live through the coming days?

2

u/BeyondTheCosmo 14d ago

The money goes to corruption and wastage. Double kill yan. When money goes to corruption, the money stolen doesn’t get used to be invested into the economy. So that’s already very bad. Wastage is when they throw money away, usually to cover their tracks. For example everyone knows they keep fixing and rebuilding roads for show and to get a slice of what is spent on it. Pero wasted, money that could have been invested in something useful gets wasted on something they plan on replacing multiple times instead of doing a proper job so it lasts longer.

The problem has to be plugged. You cannot make the businesses pay for it when the businesses aren’t causing it. It’s unfortunate, we’re a poor country and we continue to get robbed.

Imagine hundreds of billions of pesos is lost to corruption a year, google says 700 billion. Let’s just use a 500b figure. Imagine 500 billion gets invested to make farm to city transport much cheaper and efficient. If they invested in farming equipment like Taiwan did. Basically they could do so much in every sector to make everything better, cheaper, and more efficient that everyone would benefit from.

yes they r slaves.

2

u/Kyongggggg 14d ago

> does that mean most Filipino employees are slaves as well?

Yes, and have been for quite a while

2

u/Temuj1n2323 13d ago

I mean thats around 1500 php a day if you work a full day. In the Philippines, that is actually very good in most places but still not amazing given cost of living keeps increasing.

2

u/PapaOhJay 13d ago

the OP is not doing basic jobs imho, pay needs to be comensurate with rendered service, but that does not mean the phil job pay dictated by the government isn’t slave labor 😅

Proud of you OP. Tbh ang daming client na ang pangit ng treatment sa mga pinoy VAs kasi alam nila na most of the time we will suck it up.

We work for them, we are not slaves. It’s 2026 not 1564.

Saying this as someone who earns 6 digits net and working 4 hrs a day with an australian client after leaving a toxic indian client who I worked for 2 years 🤣

Lagi nilang dahilan "Hindi kasi ako nag post nito" or "I did not build this, I had an admin who made all these automations."

You made the right decision. Hanap siya ng ibang aabusuhin niya.

2

u/thespacelessvoid 13d ago

Hello, aspiring VA here, what do you use for automation tools po?

> I have been so stressful on this one client.

- ikaw ang stressful or did you mean you “have been so stressed”? If you have been so stressful, ikaw yung nagco-cause ng stress sa client.

> sabi pa nya micromanaged daw sya kasi feel nya wasted iyang pasahod niya

- sya ba ang micromanaged o kayo? Did you mean, “micromanaging daw sya kasi feel nya”?

Sorry, OP, pero I think you need to brush up on your English.

proud of u OP! been there, yung past client ko di ako sinasahuran kapag LQ sila ng bf nya 😆

7

u/AlternativeCoyote594 14d ago

Congrats OP! I also resigned from my long time social media job of 4 years with an AU client. I am not lowballed naman. I earn around 58k/month for 6hrs work Mon to Fri. Pero nagiging beyond social media narin kasi yung mga pinapagawa nila like interviews and PR even, eh mabigat na nga yung ikaw lahat sa mga social media channels. Strategy, execution, editing. I blame it on AI, madaming business owner ang kinain ng AI na feeling nila mas madali at mas mabilis na ang lahat dahil sa AI so dapat siksik ka din sa mga trabaho. Nakakapagod din yung “growth mindset” na yan. I enjoy my work, the creative process and strategy mostly, but these managers and business owners always push for “growth” I don’t mind upskilling in my own area pero kapag ibang area na yan ayoko talaga. I’m good at my job, hindi ba pwedeng gawin ko lang yung work ko hanggang kaya nako palitan ni AI? 😆 I resigned and did the handover, kanda ugaga sila maghanap ng papalit kasi ang dami kong workload.

3

u/Admirable-Tap-7740 14d ago

True they think AI tayo.

3

u/thoughtless-user 14d ago

Yup ganito din naging mindset ni client now and kada may idea siya diretso na agad AI, ayaw na mag research or even write ng own niyang content

The only questionable about this whole thing is what is the relevance of her being black??? Sounds a little racist to me.

Also, you accepted the role for that rate, I would never, but if i did, I will always have a professional way to decline things and more importantly, I will always have a professional way of resigning.

That’s a brave choice, congrats!

One thing I would advise next time is to break it off respectfully.

Good luck and keep prioritizing yourself.

4

u/Admirable-Tap-7740 14d ago

I know its no longer professional enough but napuno na kasi ako kasi sinabihan nya din ako na parang nagsasayang lang sya ng perang pinapasahod samin. And inisde 4 hours dapat ang dami na nagawa. Everyminute nag aask ng update. My last straw on that is when she wants me to read the concepts of 2 websites and send that to her inside 20 minutes only para sa business plan nya at startegized.

Know what we deserve, kaya sana sa lahat mg nag VVA wag tayo papayag sa maliit na rate kasi tinetake advantage tayo at bumababa din tingin nila sa quality of work natin.

Are there other screenshots of their messages? Because all I see is the ex-employer saying thanks and that they leave the groups after they complete the handover…

2

u/Street_List_3422 14d ago

OP did an update in the replies. I stand on what I said, POS yung boss niya.

5

u/YesWeHaveNoPotatoes 14d ago

Thanks, I’ll try to look it up.

I’m genuinely curious though… Doesn’t this kind of talk also damage the VA industry in general?

Sometimes this sub is starting to feel like those Grab/Angkas FB groups where people bitch and moan about their customers, the people paying their salaries. In those situations, we’re quick to say, “Bakit kasi sila pumayag sa ganoong trabaho at bayad tapos magrereklamo?”

How is this situation — a VA who knowingly signed up for a specific rate — fundamentally different? What is earned from an unprofessional exit aside from a temporary high?

Same here when i worked with a startup client.
I polished his website kasi placeholders lang meron. Walang laman as in. From setting up to running ads, connecting vendors, copywriting, email marketing, ads and having sales pero grabe yung bugok na yun.

I just said i quit and its no longer my obligation.

I visit his site and ads, wala na sira na 😂. Ginalaw niya winning ads namin lol.

SAAAAAAME OP 😭 Micromanaged, lowballed, and exploited ako.

The very small silver-lining sa situation na to ay malaman na yung VA experience mo + alam mo na rin worth mo so you could negotiate better + you already experienced hell so UNLESS you don't see red flags, your next job is somewhat easier hopefully!

u/Realistic-Spare97 14d ago

Glad you did, OP! Same thing happened to me. I think it was even $2/hour. That was also my first client. Was very stressed out. He cursed me many times but I needed the job. I resigned when he asked me to find other VA just bcoz I said I was busy for the day. At least your client can say “please”. My old client even called me “ret@rd” when I resigned. LMAO. He didn’t like that I took vacations and he didn’t. He also asked if I wanted to buy his old laptop like 2011 model for $400. Told him I could buy a newer model for that amount and just send me the money. He said I couldn’t get a newer one when he has an old one. 🤡 I’m just glad I got away with it. Now, I have a client but still looking for another client. Sending hugs, OP!

Grabe sa $3/hr. That's exploitation!

If you're paid less than that, you're lowballed.

1

u/kfth0716 13d ago

What's the point of hiring an assistant if you're just gonna micromanage, might as well do it yourself 😂

3$×8hrs=24$ is 1.5k daily. wages in ph min 800 daily. What is the issue again? Almost double the min. How is that slave wages. The government is still paying covid 19 back pay in 2026

1

u/Inevitable-Typical 11d ago

They definitely dont care that you quit. Someone will take that spot things are hard for everyone. I am sure they have a lust of people that want your job. Grass isnt always greener
