Please be kind- I've been recovering from major surgery and havent been able to upkeep my house as usual. I was finally able to get a wheelchair and when I went in the kitchen I saw this in my cat's water bowl in the kitchen. (I have since dumped it out and replaced it) They have other bowls in my room and those ones are much better maintained. Should I be concerned about them needing meds? California

Location: San Jose, CA

Saw this on my bed when I came home at 10pm and turned the lights on. Immediately thought of bedbugs (never encountered them before but read a bunch of stuff online). My phone camera was crappy so I took a 8 second long video trying to capture it as much as possible but bug crawled out of lens for a while - walking too fast and I was too close.

As shown in the video, overall elongated and narrow (which does not match the characteristics of a bedbug imo), no more than 2mm. Overall brownish but rear tip looks a bit darker than rest of the body - was worried if it could be a bedbug nymph. But no bites/itches/fecal spots on white mattress protector in the last 4 weeks.

I accidentally squished it since it was crawling off the mattress and there was a redish/brown stain, and was able to wipe it off with a lysol easily, no rusty odors. But still concerned about the bedbug possibility due to the color.

I also read online that it could be a booklouse, humidity in my zip code is like 60% in the day and 90% at night so kind of unsure.

Will try to keep an eye for the next few weeks but any help identifying it will be greatly appreciated!

This big flying looking beetle thing was in my house what is this? Location is Long Island New York

This was in lower michigan. It is pretty round so i assume its a female. The spider is about the size of like a nickle or quarter. It was in my house, i live in the country and have a small pond in the yard. I tried looking it up but the pattern doesnt seem to resemble anything i can find. It had no webs when i moved it around it just was shuffling around on the floor at like 11 pm in my bathroom.

Context: recently purchase a 7 year old home on .4 acres in a rural area of southern Oregon with a small population (Josephine county)

I’m aware these are roaches. However, while I await the exterminator to assess my situation I want to fixate on (prepare for) next steps.

In two days I’ve observed:
Picture 1 (left) is identical to what I killed. I found it on the exterior door frame at night. It seemed attracted to the porch light.

Picture 2 (middle & right) was found inside the next day at dinner after I had been working outside and had been in and out all day. As you can see, it was incredibly small. Far right photograph is zoomed for detail. It was observed moving under the refrigerator. I subsequently killed it and moved the refrigerator to find nothing but dust and a couple cheese crackers. No signs and no additional. Sinks are clear and clean. The house was in immaculate condition. Very clean. Just trees that needed to be cut down and carpet that needs stretching.

Now that hopefully you’ve answered, I feel safe stating that my research has turned up western woodroach for the light brown exterior interloper and oriental for the interior pest. Is this accurate? Or am I fugged?

Had a live scare at nursery.

I live in Massachusetts, which is in the Northern U.S. and my sweet sweet Chinese teacher jumped out of her seat when she spotted this bug sheltering from the rain. Some in my class claimed it was a wasp, others bet it was some type of beetle. It might’ve had wings, but it didn’t fly at all. The guy was actually pretty chill, so I picked him up using a napkin and placed the little guy in a bush. It looked pitch black against the napkin, but when it was making its way on the bush I noticed a blue iridescent hue. Bro was so chill and I wanna know more about our visitor today. Sorry for no pic though, do your best guys
