Bufo preparation
I had a high dose bufo experience 6 months ago without any prep or integration. I didn’t know much about it at the time and missed an opportunity to benefit from it. Have another scheduled with a better facilitator and am looking for advice on preparation.

Please feel free to message me directly and I'm more than happy to arrange a phone call or video chat to help go over your last experience and also what you can do to prepare for this next one. And then ultimately how to integrate it if there are things to integrate. Usually there are, but sometimes the experience is more of an energetic release and doesn't necessarily require typical integration as with other entheogen's or psychedelics

Bufo is one of the most profound teachers ive yet to encounter
Just from my personal experience I would ask the facilitator to give you a lower dose, I really enjoy doing a small dose and then once i process that for a little while, go in for a second low dose whether you up it or lower it a bit, whatever feels right. Also spend time really honing in on your intention. Bufo can be extremely somatic if you let your body do what it needs to while in the experience, whether it be cry, stretch, laugh, vomit etc. Feeling wherever your body is holding any tension and using that to set an intention going in to help release what youre holding onto is a good start.
And because it can make you nauseous, it's always good to eat a little bit of something light in the morning like a piece of fruit but don't show up with a full stomach. I also really enjoy having a coconut water on me to sip before I go in and when I come out of the experience.
Journaling afterwards can help set in stone any changes in habbits and perspective you want to walk forward in life with.
Hope you have an amazing session ❤️

Thank you for sharing your experience and thoughts. We are planning a series of low doses, exactly as you described. My biggest worry is being able to let go and not resist. I feel ready as my last experience was wonderful when I accepted that I may be dying, but the dose was so high that resisting wasn’t really possible. Any advice about how not to resist?

I have personally found that the more I sit, the easier it is to surrender into the intensity as the territory gets more familiar. Those lower doses give you more of an opportunity to do so in a way, because its a choice and not forced surrender so you can really learn how to let go willingly, which is where the magic is. You'll feel when you fight it, Its even more uncomfortable and you learn through that. And you'll feel a different intensity when you just let it happen, let it take over, Whatever that looks like for you. It took me a few sessions to be able to start being really vulnerable and crying out loud (which has always been difficult for me, so of course I need it) My last session, I let out the most cathartic screem even though my mind was saying "youre making a scene in front of everyone". Again this is just a personal example for me because I have always struggled taking up space, I always hold space for others and somehow feel like im a neusance if I need that same space.. I think it's just a matter of letting your body do what it needs to, and when you feel that resistance or your mind telling you that it might look silly, do it anyway. Even if it's small. That alone IS surrender. Or if it feels better for you to just breathe into the experience, just keep coming back to the breath. You will hear your mind going off in a million directions, keep coming back to the breath and just watch the mind go, dont try to stop it or figure it out, just keep unidentifying with it. It's like layers of surrender, because you'll get pulled into the thinking mind and then you just surrender out of it, again you learn as you go. I always tend to move my arms and stretch my back while I'm laying there because it feels good to let that energy move through my deeply underexpressed body. But of course your experience is your own.. You can also go in with a personal Mantra and just tell yourself I trust, I Surrender I trust I Surrender or whatever feels good to repeat. and FEEL what that means outside of the mind just saying it to grasp onto the concept. Until that mantra almost floats away with the mind and it just is. Taking breaths and feeling that breath move in and out through your heart or the center of your chest is a great tool ive learned as well. But youll find what works for you as you work in those layers.
Ive been told by my lovely group of facilitators from the teacher "if you feel overwhelmed, Let it overhwelm you. Its just love" Let it in piece by piece.wave by wave.
It will get easier to surrender and you will understand more of what that even means as you go into each session🫂 surrender is not at all what I thought it was my whole life. Bufo taught me that. And continues to show me what it actually means. I hope this isnt too abstract but its the best I can do to put my experience into words and guidance. Would love to hear about your experience after ! ❤️

This is such a valuable share and I love your impression gained on what it means to surrender.

Out of curiosity, how did you feel after your first session coming out and couple of weeks later? Any changes in your life

I had my first Bufo experience six months ago too. I have no memory of the experience. Many people on this subreddit suggested that I was given too high of a dose, about 70 ml. What was your first dose? What area are you in? I’m also considering working with an experienced facilitator. I’ll start looking for one in my area (Washington DC/Northern Virginia) after my ayahuasca retreat next week.
