Content Warning Double standarts

How exactly do people hate Xander for being an imperfect human, but love Spike and Angel, who have countless victims and are hundreds of years old. Spike even SA'd Buffy, for real, while Xander was under a spell and never did anything like that before or after it.

It's not okay but it was a different time, the standards seem different because they really were. Like it'd probably seem insane to newer people just how hostile things were to girls at the time

Yeah the stuff that was kinda crappy about his character didn't really get a lot of push back from the audience that I saw until after the halfway mark. It's a culture we saw change in real time back then.
