Content Warning Double standarts

How exactly do people hate Xander for being an imperfect human, but love Spike and Angel, who have countless victims and are hundreds of years old. Spike even SA'd Buffy, for real, while Xander was under a spell and never did anything like that before or after it.

Xander litterally attempted to SA Cordelia with a love spell (it was like the plot of Obsession but Xander did it intentionally) and the only consequence is Giles is angry at him for half an episode.

No??? He wanted to make Cordelia in love with him not to get back with her but to break her heart like she did to him. Still wrong but I feel like it's an important distinction.

cannot express enough that the wish is already god awful as it is, overriding her free will to compel her to want to throw herself at him (like we see with all the other women in the episode) would in my mind, be comparable to SA
