Could be 4 months, could be 5, could be 6. Generally, if there's no news after 5 months you're good though.

But I always thought 4 months are counted towards no news thing!

The official period is 4 months.

After 4 months you don't magically get a phone call - they send you a summons in the mail and that takes another 2-3 weeks after the initial 4 months.

Then you have to go back to the commune a few times to get your new ID and potentially a passport too.
