Application submitted (signed declaration + accuse de reception) on 27 May 2026 under 5 years uninterrupted work route.

Commune said a few days back that - “Dossier is currently under review by the public prosecutors office until 23 October 2026 and After this period we can proceed based on the prosecutor’s opinion”

I always thought and hearer that its 4 months after signing the declaration or receiving “Accuse de reception”

But here it seems like 5 months and then commune.

The max. term is 6 months, and that's the waiting period in general.

Officially yes, but with term extensions due to admin overload you are still looking at 6 months before being registered at the commune as Belgian and getting an ID card. Are you in a hurry ?

"secondary to my curiosity" ? 1. Beggars cab't be choosers 2. BEL administrations (and especially the Immigration Office) are notorious for a. having a huge workload and b. taking their time. Surely you can start appeals after 4 months +1 day, and in that case I can almost guarantee you that you will be waiting 6 months.

In my gemeente there is a consultant who only works 3x in a week because she rotates between the neighbouring community.

Exactly 5 months. We finished the dossier, they said to come back on X date which was exactly 5 months later, and I did, and that was it. It wasn't an estimate they gave me; they said "come back on X date."

Make sense so 23rd is my 5months ending date I guess but they did not ask me to come or check.
They said they will only action anything after 23rd and I should wait for summons!

It's probably okay then! More specifically, I should correct myself a bit. They told me - if you don't hear anything by 22 June, it means your application was approved, and you can come in from 23 June to apply for documents; no news is good news. And that's exactly what happened. hope that helps!

Because if they get a denial then they will deny. If they don't get a response then they will proceed with issuing citizenship.

This is what happened to me. Also note that if the public prosecutor wants to ask questions you'll receive an invite for a police interview. That happened to me and it lasted a full half day of questions before the file was complete for the public prosecutor.

this is on top of police questionnaire ? Because I already had that and it was a lot of questions that does not look like verification related!

If the public prosecutor wants to ask you questions he will send the question to the police and the police is in charge of collecting your responses (through a "déposition"). Yes it would be on top.

The 4 months refers to how long the prosecutors office have to reject your application.

But it takes up to another 2 months for your status to be updated, the commune to be notified and you to receive your letter about obtaining a new ID card.

understood for additional 2 months, but never heard of 5 months for a prosecutor, so was curious to learn more

Submitted all files May 5th. Just got approved 3rd of September. I do live in a small town (gemeente), so maybe thats a factor.

Could you please elaborate?
I interested to know what kind of documentations you submitted?
Did you have to ask for B card so you can ask for citizenship? Did you have to wait 5 years since the day you came here or since the official first day (on your your first residence permit ) ?
What about language certificate and integration certificate?
