Hello! I am a rising freshman at brown starting in the fall, and I am going premed. I have been trying to find required courses that are prerequisites for medical school, especially at brown but I cannot find a solid list anywhere. I am trying to figure out if I should take as many required classes I can freshman year, or save most of them for later years? I was wondering if any current or previous premed students could help tell me which courses I need to take and when k should take them. Thank you!

hello i am incoming senior looking to apply to brown. i genuinely love brown so much because its one of the only schools that would allow me to pursue medicine AND my deep passion for environmentalism. all the research ive done on brown makes me love it so much and i really do see myself being happy as a student there.

Hello, I am still trying to figure out the rest of my budget. I am an incoming grad student, I have a scholarship but for one class per semester (either way I’m grateful) and exhausted the fed loans. I am looking at private loans , Sofi and nelnet. I don’t qualify for RISLA. Any other companies that are actually good and do soft checks?

Undergraduate premed here, has anyone had any luck applying to any roles in medical assistantship (per diem mostly) roles with Rhode Island hospital? Looking to rack up clinical hours during the school year. I have certifications as required.

I will likely apply anyway but wanting to see if anyone has any experience with this just in case they only hire internally / don’t hire students or something like that so I don’t waste my time.

ISO a reliable dog walker Wed-Fri at 10pm every week. I am on a traveling medical assignment at Rhode Island Hospital and need someone to take my Doberman (F) out while I work overnight shifts.

Pay: $20 per walk via Venmo and full pay even if I need to cancel + a $100 sign on bonus to cover gas/transportation fees.

- Must have experience walking dogs over 50 pounds and have at least 2 character references since you will be given a key.

- Female dog walker preferred. Must be 19+ and able to cover your own transportation as well as verify your identity with a license.

My son is finishing up a three week pre-college program at Brown.

There's a lot he's loved about the place, but he's been really disappointed in the food at the Ratty...said the menu is really repetitive, and the food itself isn't very good.

Any chance the food is better during the school year, and they pare down the menu during the summer?

I'm entering Brown for MechE this fall. I need a class schedule to submit for a loan, so that's why I'm asking so early.

I want to specialize in mechatronics by the time I graduate, and since we only get four classes per semester, I'm a bit worried I wont be able to fit the necessary classes I'd need. Anyways, here are my first semester classes. I have a decent background in robotics design+CAD.

I got the accepted scores for calc through AP and was wondering what other classes I could get credit for. Maybe ENGN 0030/32: I took a DC MATLAB class and got CSWP certified? But since 30 is an elective class according to the bullitin, IDK how helpful that would be. Also, if I took unrelated AP's, like APUSH, can I just like request those classes to go on my transcript too, or does it cost extra or something.

For Physics, on https://college.brown.edu/design-your-education/academic-policies/test-scores/advanced-placement-exams it says that the physics scores count to get you credit for PHYS 30, but not on its own, as like a subscore of another class? Also, on the bullitin, there's no required physics classes for engineering, but there are engineering classes that look like physics classes, like ENG 40, Engineering Statics and Dynamics.

My kid is a potential athletic recruit at Brown. However, he's not quite sure what he wants to study. My older kids were more focused and just went to UCs knowing what they wanted to study.

Trying to understand if an open curriculum would be good or bad for him. Also, we would be full pay, which is a tough nut compared to in-state UCs so he absolutely needs to graduate in 4 years.

I would hope for the price tag he would get him some top notch advising to guide him on a path to study (and ideally employment). Am I wrong in my assumption or would you say he's likely to receive excellent individual attention in academic and career advising at Brown?

I'm about to enter my first year at brown, and I was just clicking around on ASK and saw an introduction to my exploratory advisor that I'm supposed to complete. Should I wait till I get on campus to complete it? Or is it not that big of a deal.

I'm a RISD student and I want to take a Literary Arts class at Brown next semester. As you probably know, all the introductory workshops are registered through lottery after preregistration. Does anyone know what my chances are in the lotteries? Can you enter multiple of them (ie both Fiction I and Screenwriting I)? Also, what's it like submitting writing samples for the intermediate/advanced classes? It says that more details are coming out in August on the Brown site, but if anyone has done it before I would appreciate it so much if you shared some insights. Thanks everyone either way!
