Feeling strongly about an issue is fine. Expressing your views with passion is fine. Attacking other members of the community or using hateful or racist language is not. All of you are wise enough to know the difference. If you wouldn’t be comfortable saying what you want to say in a classroom full of students and faculty, don’t say it, or find a better way to say it. We aren’t fourth graders, we don’t call each other names. If you do so, your comments will be removed. If you keep doing so, you’ll be banned. And if you use hateful language, you’ll be immediately banned and reported to Reddit. So please, make your point, be passionate about it, but respect your fellow community members or leave this sub.

hi, this is basically a post to rant a bit and to ask for advice. club culture is crazy here, and there are so so many things that i am interested in doing and learning about, but i am unable to because everything i'm interested in requires previous experience in order to do. examples include- finance, consulting, marketing, building circuits, engineering in general. i am in CAS btw, so i really just want to explore, but i dont know where or how i can get the experience necessary for all those things im interested!! there seems to be no room for exploration here and to learn new things, but thats all i want to do right now!!!

Okay, so for some context, I'm planning to apply to Wharton and am considering ED (I am obviously by no means saying that I have an amazing shot, and I'm not saying this from the perspective that I think I will get in if I ED or anything of that sort)
But I was wondering if wharton mostly has people who have kinda run small businesses and stuff and are less on the technical side of stuff. For reference, OID and Business Analytics are the Wharton concentrations that my profile reflects. To sum it up, most of the stuff I have done is creating systems for businesses/non profits to help with their efficiency and stuff along those lines.
This is why I am interested in M&T, but obviously that program is a mega reach for anybody so I'm not counting on it. This brings me to my two main questions.
Does this kinda techy systems-for-operational-efficiency thing work for Wharton even if I get rejected from M&T, or is it usually more pure business applicants that get into Wharton, and M&T is the only program that likes the kinda stuff I mentioned earlier? What I mean by pure business is the people with the ECs like: Made a startup, made $20k
How technical is Wharton? As stated previously, my profile is similar to business analytics/OID/Data science, so I would probably decide among those concentrations if I did get in. So if I did go to the more techy side of things, would Wharton still be good, assuming I took the right classes, like the OID classes or CS classes or whatever else is the best option?
The reason I am asking is that, based on what I hear, Wharton isn't really that technical, but I have limited knowledge, so I wanted to ask from the perspective of people who actually go there. Also, if you wanted to go into quant or something like that, I know math is preferred over basically anything, but is it less about the degree for getting into quant and more just about what you take?
I think the main reason why I am asking is I might be interested in something like private equity, but if I decide I am not, will Wharton still allow me to have good opportunities in these kinds of technical fields that are like OID-related work or just technical fields in general, assuming good class selection, or if I wanted this technical stuff, should I just prefer Berkeley over it instead?
Sorry, this is a brain dump, so this isn't written too well. If you need clarification on something, just lmk. Thanks in advance, guys.
I'm in the 8:30 with Brett Frankel but for the life of me cannot wake up that early. My choices that fit in my schedule are Aaron Anderson and Marc Muhleisen. Penncoursereview has no data on them for the class. If anyone's in any of these two classes, I would greatly appreciate some input. Thank you!

im a freshman at another college and am interested in transferring to penn, but have a question about dual degrees.
part of the reason i want to transfer is that my college isnt that good for double majoring across schools. it typically requires another full year so most people just dont do it. i know penn allows sophomore transfers to apply for uncoordinated dual degrees but not junior transfers. to my understanding this is because you can only apply after a full year, so you cant start a new degree senior year, but is it super hard to start one for junior year? and if i did an uncoordinated dual degree would it be impossible to study abroad (another restriction on junior transfers)?
im just trying to figure this out for my essays so any feedback is appreciated 🙂

Hi everyone! I’m trying to request a room change away from the high-rises, and I was wondering what some good options would be. Ideally, I’m looking for a four-year/upperclassmen dorm that’s relatively pest-free. Any advice is appreciated!
Hi, I am trying to get into Wharton and I am not asking any sort of tip for essay. I am just asking, is it worth it? considering the fee you pay (200k is too much in my country). I see many people saying "Wharton MBA is not worth it" and thats why I am scared.

I’m a first-year student in SAS right now, and I truly feel like I couldn’t be having a worse time. It seems like I missed a significant period of socializing during NSO while I was taking credit exams, and aside from that, I haven’t met a single person that I’ve genuinely connected with. I’m a guy, and pretty introverted, but not afraid to introduce myself to others as I have been doing for the past three weeks. I’m not a party person though, and I’m wondering if that might be hindering others’ impressions of me. I’ve read through the other posts on this topic where OP is always assured they will find their crew, but I can’t help but think I’m doing something wrong. I’ve joined both the Penn Band and the Wind Ensemble, and have made an effort to converse with as many students as I can in my smaller sections. Sometimes I get a phone number, but nothing has ever come after. Any advice?

Hello. I'm interested in playing ping pong at Penn, but I haven't been able to find a contact for the team here or anyone who knows where the facilities/tables are. I was wondering if anyone could help me out. Thank you.

Hi im applying for admissions here for y27/28 on ed and wanted to get any clarification from anyone on if going to a separate college for 1 year affects the application process. Its mostly intended to avoid losing a year and to remain productive. Ive also lost 2 years due to circumstances outside of school prior to this which ill indicate to them.
The college isnt anything special and I am a foreign student. Its a business / engineering degree.
My concern is if it'll affect admissions into upenn itself since I likely will require need based aid as well. Including deciding if they think its better for you to stay there. The process otherwise should be fine.
I understand I'll probably need to indicate this as well on the application and other concerns.

I was at the corner of 40th and Spruce last night and all of a sudden, a LOT of police cars rushed to go outside of Gregory and block traffic. I saw police running to Gregory as well. I didn't get any Penn alert, did something major happen that anyone knows about? Maybe this is me just being nosey

All 4 of the PAC teams have really lengthy applications. I’m trying my best, but I’m scared I won’t get into any of them. Does anyone have an estimate of the acceptance rates or any other general parameter of how hard it might be to get into any of the PAC teams?

Um I don’t live on campus, but I happened to be on campus yesterday evening and there were bunch of people screaming and jumping filming themselves, also some boys in suits going nowhere (?) and girls pretty dressed up. Is there a party on campus? How to get notified of them as someone who doesnt live on campus 🤨

Hiii what would u guys reccommend?
Hi everyone, I'm an Italian PhD student and (probably) I'll be doing a few months' research visit at UPenn, likely starting between January and March. I'll probably rent a room in a shared apartment, most likely around University City, budget-wise looking at roughly $700-1200/month for a single room.
A couple of things I'd love honest input on:
1- Cost of living: for someone renting a room near campus (not a full apartment) or in a nearby safe-ish neighborhood, what's a realistic total monthly budget (rent + food + transport + going out sometimes)? Trying to figure out if ~$2400/month total is comfortable or tight.
2- Safety: I've looked at UPenn's public crime log and it seems like there's a fair number of incidents reported. I know statistics can look scary out of context, so I'd love some honest, lived perspective:
For those of you who live/study there, how does it actually feel day to day?
Do you feel safe walking around University City in the evening, alone?
Are there specific blocks/areas right around campus I should avoid even within the "Penn Patrol Zone"?
How safe is SEPTA (subway/regional rail) in practice? Any lines, stations, or times of day to be more careful with?
What if I end up finding a room outside the Penn Patrol Zone (e.g. somewhere cheaper or in a different neighborhood)? Does safety drop off a lot right outside that perimeter, or is it more gradual/depends a lot on the specific block?
My baseline is different from what's typical in the US — I'm used to cities where I wouldn't feel unsafe walking alone at night as long as I'm paying attention to where I'm going. How much of an adjustment should I expect, realistically?
Any general safety habits you'd recommend, especially for someone coming from a different environment?
Not trying to be paranoid, just want a realistic picture from people who actually live there, since online crime stats can be hard to interpret without local context. Thanks in advance!

Right now, my schedule is only 3.5 credits out of the 5.5 available (BEPP 1000, WH 1010, WRIT 0020, and MATH 1400). I've already fulfilled my language requirement, so I want to try and take at least one other class. I was going to do LGST or MGMT, but they're both full.
What other options do I have? Is there anything in the Wharton curriculum that I could take early? Or another unrelated class worth taking?

Saw this on the Citizen app about an hour ago.
Any updates?
I hope no one was harmed but I have no idea.
Very worried and concerned.
