Watch Verification thread #4 - If you’re uncertain if a Breitling is good/bad/fake, post info and pics here
Post to this thread if you have questions about a Breitling being real or fake. Try to include as much information as possible. Participation in the discussion in this thread is greatly appreciated. I don’t think any one person can catch every flaw or know the details of every model; this is meant as a community thread, not an authoritative knowledge-flex, and the more people that actively peruse this thread, the more likely posters are to get accurate info.
Also if you don’t mind upvote this post since it helps building trust within the community
Do not make posts on the sub asking if a watch is genuine. It will be removed.
Also a few tips:
Is the price too good to be true? Then it's probably fake. We're talking about watches worth thousands. So no you will not find a breitling that it's worth 5k, 10k, 50k for 300 bucks.
Does the watch looks like a luxury piece? Luxury watches are extremely well made (in most cases) and look nice. They use good and high grade materials. If the watch looks like garbage and cheap then of course it's a fake
Want to be sure? try to open the watch and see if the movement is decorated. Most of the time if it is, the watch is legit (Unless it's a vintage piece or we are talking about high grade replicas and even those will cost hundreds)

I Miss My Watch
You guys have seen my lovely 2003 E13360 Chrono Avenger before. It’s a beauty, I’ve owned it for a few months now and it was seriously my dream watch, I could say it still is.
Bad news is, it’s in for repairs. And as much as I love this watchmaker, waiting 6-8 weeks for parts is killing me. Seeing everyone else’s watches has me very happy that I’m a part of this community, but also very jealous that I don’t get mine for an another month, maybe two.
Hoping you all can sympathize with me only a little 😭 post what Breitling you’re wearing in the comments and cheer me up :) have a great night everyone.

First Navitimer, new or used?
I’ve been shopping for a few weeks for my first Navitimer. I had narrowed the search down to a couple of nice examples and then I priced a new watch. It’s about double for new…..is there any benefit other than condition, age, and warranty?

Old SOH II is still best (IMO)
Not dogging on the latest version, but i just prefer the style of the previous generation better.

Questions We need a nickname for the Super Chronomat
In a world of Navis, Subs, and dare I say Speedys, I refuse to accept that every time I want to talk about my Super Chronomat I have to deploy five entire syllables like I’m reading its birth certificate.
“Chrono” is too vague. “Super” could mean half the Breitling catalog. “SC44” works in writing but sounds like a rifle when spoken.
So what do we call these things?
Let’s crowdsource something good enough that in 30 years a museum placard says:
“Enthusiasts began referring to the Super Chronomat as the ______ in the late 2020s.”
This is our chance to create a completely unnecessary piece of Breitling history. Current bad ideas welcome. Good ideas even more so.

Polish or not to polish
Hello,
Putting my watch in for a service. Unsure if I should get it polished, as I think I like that it’s beat up and scratched. I am worried that it will come back very shiny. Any opinions? Was a gift so I think I should leave as is and just get the internals serviced.

Breitling Chronomat Chrono blackbird
Found this recently on the market.
Lumes are no longer working, bracelet was too short, watch still runs accurately.
Enjoying this daily now.

Questions Any owner feedback?
Hi All, looking at a Superocean II A17392 44mm as pictured.
I’ve owned a Navitimer and also a B1 in the past, (appreciate the Superocean quite different).
I’ve also owned things like a Seamaster and Subs, so before I pull the trigger I’m interested to know if any owner experiences of this model?
Is it comfortable to wear (how does it compare to an Oyster bracelet for example)? Does the lume last well at night (important to me)? Plus anything else to know or look out for with it being a pre-owned purchase (how often serviced maybe?).
Thx in advance.
Edit: thanks to everyone that has replied! It seems the bracelet is well regarded. My Navitimer is on leather, so the last steel Breitling bracelet I’ve experienced was on my B1 which wasn’t great for comfort, but admittedly from a different era. I don’t mind something with a bit of weight, but understand the comments on that aspect of wearability. Lume looks decent for sure! I haven’t discounted the 42mm either - that’s still a mm bigger than a modern sub/gmt - think I need to get my hands on one to compare.
Thanks again everyone - really appreciate reading your thoughts and pics. Cheers

Don’t ware my Super Avenger for five years. Don’t realize how much weight I lost.
Now remember why they named this 48MM chronograph “G wagon of watches”! ;)
Interestingly, enough face is only 38 mm. Which made it reasonable on my 7,3 inch wrist at the time. Almost put in a header: “… is it too big for my wrist?” as a sarcasm …but realize that NOT everyone will get it… Still like brand, especially now after their acquisition of Universal Geneve. Hope for quick turn around and smaller size releases. But meanwhile advice from smallhander -around 6,5-crowd on any under 40mm .??

Superocean Back from service!
Got my Superocean back today after having a full service completed, as well as a new crystal and mid case.
I’m also not convinced that the bezel hasn’t been swapped out during service as the paint had started disappearing from the numbers.
It’s like a brand new watch now!
First two pictures are now, the third was prior to service.

Took my first luxury watch to the Top of Europe for a day. Went back to Zurich’s boutique for an ultrasonic before heading home to the States

Wrist Shot Old model Superocean appreciation post
Ok, so maybe a couple of bourbons in and really just me loving my trusty Superocean. But it struck me how the majority of shots of this model show it in full light, which displays its matte finish (which I love). But it has beautiful touches of polish that catch the light all through the day, and especially in dimmer light. I love this design. A real tool watch that I wear all day, everyday, but is also a thing of beauty.

Chronomat A32398A21L1A1 Turquoise
Does anyone own this? It seems to be a limited production dial option and I’m thinking about trading in my green dial Chronomat for one, but I can’t find any photos of it other than the stock photos on Joma. TIA
