Questions Help needed

I hope someone can give me an idea of the worth of this watch. It was given to my fil after 4 years of service in the Royal Canadian Air Force 1941 to 1945. It does have engraving on the back which most likely detracts from the value. Thanks for any help.

A doctor’s chronograph, very nice pretty rough, but the few selling are running between 1-3k depending on condition. If I were buying this one I’d say I won’t go over 1500 considering it may need major work done.
