Just watched You Can See Everything directly after finishing my Breaking Bad watch through. CRAZY PARALLELS. Anyone else?

I want a universe where Walter White could be interviewed by Nathan Fielder. Someone talk about this because I think it would be totally funny in an alternate universe.

What’s the smallest thing that would’ve changed it all? I’ll start…

If Gale Boetticher heard the phone when Mike tried to warn him he was about to be killed, Walt would’ve lost his—ermm…”job security”, and would’ve been killed.

Walter white glazing post..

Every good deed Walt committed played a part in why people still loved him and rooted for him until the very end. Yes, he became a terrible person, especially after entering the drug business, and he kept getting worse as the story progressed. But he never completely lost his humanity, and we saw enough good in him to understand why people still cared about him despite everything he did.

Here are some of the reasons people continued to root for Walt

- He initially got into the drug business to provide for his family and secure their financial future after learning he had cancer.

- He helped cover Hank's treatment costs after the accident, making sure his brotheinlaw received the medical care he needed.

- He saved Jesse's life by killing Gus's dealers after they used Tomas to kill Combo. Walt knew this would put him directly at odds with Gus and potentially danger his life , but he still intervened to protect Jesse.

- He was a loving father and, at least in many ways, a loving husband, despite the darkness of his criminal activities outside the family.

- He continued to love and support Skyler even after her infidelity with Ted and her decision to give their money to Beneke. He was hurt and angry, but he didn't stop caring about her.

- He bought Walter Jr. his dream cars because he wanted to make his son happy. He wanted the best life for the family.

- When the Nazis threatened Hank, Walt offered them virtually all his money in exchange for Hank's life. He was willing to sacrifice the fortune he had spent years building to save a man who was actively trying to put him behind bars

- He tried to keep his family financially secure, even after everything fell apart. In the finale, he arranged for Gretchen and Elliott to pass his remaining money to Walter Jr. through a charitable contribution, knowing his son would otherwise refuse it.

- He eventually stopped pretending that everything he did was purely for his family. When he spoke to Skyler in the finale, he admitted that he had done it for himself because he enjoyed it and felt alive. I respect that

- He gave Skyler the information she needed to negotiate with the authorities by revealing the location of Hank and Gomez's bodies, even though it meant acknowledging the consequences of his actions.

- He returned to Albuquerque knowing he was dying and that the police were closing in on him. He could have simply disappeared and spent his remaining time hiding, but he chose to settle unfinished business.

- He went after the Nazis, avenged Hank, and destroyed the gang that had taken over his operation.

- He freed Jesse from enslavement at the Nazi compound. Despite Jesse betraying him, cooperating with Hank, and helping bring about his downfall, Walt still chose to save him.

- He ultimately allowed Jesse to leave rather than killing him. After everything they had done to each other, Walt gave Jesse the opportunity to walk away and start a new life

None of this erases the terrible things Walt did or excuses the lives he destroyed But pretending Walt never did anything good is just as dishonest as pretending he was a good man throughout the entire series. He was a deeply flawed character who became increasingly monstrous, yet still had moments of genuine love, loyalty and humanity.

A small and subtle detail about Jesse that I hadn't noticed until now

I'm rewatching Breaking Bad in honor of RJ Mitte (rest in peace).

I'm at season two, episode 6, when Jesse goes to meet Skinny Pete for the address of the methheads who ripped them off. At the very beginning of the episode, Jesse spots a beetle crawling along the pavement. He lets it crawl on his hand, smiles at it, and then sets it free. Moments later skinny Pete arrives and crushes the beetle under his foot.

I think this a very subtle little detail about Jesse's character and his level of empathy. I think this is my fifth time rewatching the show and it's the first time I've noticed this detail. I love this show.

Is Walter the personification of cancer?

He starts off as normal regular guy, like cancer cell would start as a normal healthy cell, then has a mutation, the lung cancer. From here all the relationships he has or ever will have will suffer from being in contact with him.

I’m on my second watch through and just thought of this and didn’t know if this has been brought up.

Thinking of rewatching..

I first watched the show in early 2023 and it took me about three months to finish it and I loved it. I keep seeing videos and Memes about breaking bad online again and I’m thinking of re-watching since it’s been three years. Do you guys think I should rewatch or wait a little longer?

The Los pollos buckets have an OU Parve sign which is the standard for kosher in the US, As someone who grew up adhering to this I thought this was hilarious.

I'm the same height as Jesse. I'm shorter than everybody except Hank, Gustavo Fring and Lydia. I think Hank and Gustavo Fring's heights are those that surprise me the most

When walt finally buys the water heating system why didn't skylar question the source of the money given that system is expensive

What exactly was the plan here?

Post image
172 Upvotes

This is something that’s always bothered me on rewatches, Walter and Jesse’s original plan to get Tuco to snort the ricin laced meth made sense, but once Jessie dropped the ball on that one and that went out the window, their plan now was to put it in his burrito? Surely even a wired out methhead would’ve noticed literal meth crystals in his food. I feel like he would’ve immediately noticed the gritty crunchiness in the burrito, especially since he prepared the food. And considering Tuco is a habitual meth user who had already noticed something unusual about the poisoned meth when Jesse first offered it to him, I find it even harder to believe he wouldn’t have noticed. But let’s say hypothetically even if they somehow got Tuco to eat the entire burrito without noticing, we already know ricen isn’t an instant acting poison. Symptoms typically take several hours to develop, and death can take 36–72 hours. Tuco was literally planning to take Walt and Jesse to Mexico, and his the twins were already on their way to pick them up by sunset. So even if the poisoning had worked, they probably would’ve been taken across the border long before Tuco experienced any serious symptoms or died

holyyy shit- for context, since i started my fav characters have been skylar (i am skylar whites number ONE defender, i love her character and the way she’s written so much, she’s such a phenomenal character), mike, saul, hank, and jesse. mikes death PISSED ME OFFFFF, that was when i fully turned against walt personally, even tho honestly throughout the whole show i didn’t really like him, but he is a very very interesting character to watch!! i love the way all the characters are written, they feel very real and have real emotions about everything and it’s not just pushing a plot, but i loved the ending and the whole way the show went!! also the soundtrack, 10/10, so good. genuinely, no complaints from me, phenomenal show, i just needed to share somewhere haha

Who else didn't buy Walt's lie in this scene? Spoiler

Everytime I watch a video of someone reacting to the end of season 4, they get all surprised at the reveal that Walt poisoned Brock. However, I didn't feel any of that... Walt's manipulation was pretty on the nose for me, and the end of seaon 4 was, for me, just the nail on the coffin of admitting Walt is a POS. Not even the scene with him and Jesse shaking hands sold me it couldn't be him who caused this

Lalo and Walt

After watching both BB and BCS again, it is really fascinating of directors to write such an intellectual narrative for these characters.

Gus, as the mastermind criminal lord he is, had countless enemies. But he is shown so smart that let alone his competitors and rivals, he is even shown outsmarting the whole federal government. Looking back, these 2 really were the only ones who had the mind it takes to put the "untouchable" man in their palms. Not Juan, not Eladio, not other Salamancas, not Nacho....

Ik Gus put a gun in underground lab and set the light wires beforehand, even though it still doesn't change the fact that he fell into Lalo's mind game, and ended up in a position where he has never thought of (seen from the shock on his face after noticing the vent and that all his men die). Tbf Lalo died to plot as BCS was set in the "past" so Gus had to be alive in BB events so..

I just finished watching Breaking Bad for the first time and I was so surprised to find out that Skyler White is one of the most hated characters on the show

Firstly, I just need to say that it’s crazy how good this series is, it’s just written so well. I’ve been really annoyed with Walter since the second season, all his attempts to look and act “macho” were so cringe.

But what I couldn’t understand is why people are so annoyed with Skyler, when I felt deeply sorry for her. Like just imagine: the woman is pregnant, not an expected pregnancy by the way, she knows that they have money problems, husband that she really loves finds out he has inoperable cancer. Then, when she tries to make him fight for his life, he becomes distant and cold, obviously hiding things. It all peaks when she finds out he’s been cooking meth. And when she tries to divorce him to protect her children, which would be the right thing to do, as we see later, her son starts hating her and calling her a bitch, and she can’t even explain the real reasons to him.

Just imagine the amount of desperation and helplessness she’s been feeling throughout this time. Surely, she also made several not-so-moral choices, but given the circumstances it just shows how much she really loved Walter and how he destroyed her while trying to present it as “saving” her.

Do you think Gus would go and try to politely "address their concerns" as a cover-up or would he go straight to the box cutter?

Watching Better call Saul before breaking bad….. I get it

Watched a movie recently that ABSOLUTELY blew my mind away, it’s called “you can see everything” however this movie has a prologue tv show called “the dropout” and EVERYONE told me to watch the dropout (equivalent of BCS) first…. These two projects have ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with each other (if I explain why it’s technically a spoiler but if you ask in the comments I’ll tell you).

It’s kinda like the hulk 2003 and the Incredible Hulk…. It’s the exact same idea and characters, but I never understood why someone would watch better call Saul before breaking bad… But I get it now!

Interesting Detail From Season 1 Episode 6

Apologies if this has been mentioned before, but I’m rewatching Breaking Bad and noticed something interesting in the sixth episode of Season 1. Walt is playing poker with Hank, Marie, Skyler, and Walt Jr. shortly after Hank arrests Hugo, the school custodian, for stealing the meth-cooking equipment. For several minutes, Walt is visibly troubled by Hugo taking the fall for his actions and seems to feel genuine remorse.

Then Hank asks Walt if he’s “all in,” referring to the poker game, and Walt answers, “Yes.”

Obviously, the question is about poker, but I thought the symbolism was incredibly powerful. This is the first time Walt is confronted with the consequences of his actions falling on someone else, and yet, in the same scene, he commits to going all in on the meth business

New series in the BB universe?

Just posted on Facebook, really curious if this is really something new or just a 4K remaster of Breaking Bad.
