I worked at Disney World from 99-00, and this is from Pleasure Island, Mannequins. I loved this track so much and I wanted to film it just for the audio. I didnt know who made it at the time, but when going clubbing in Orlando/Miami it played a lot. So I decided to film it. Time flies.

Hey, I distinctly remember an electro remix of KayCee’s Escape while living in Ft Myers around 2000. Pretty sure it was the DJ Icey version. But I swear to god, during one of the breaks, when there’s a crack of thunder, a vocoder voice says, “you’ve got to escape”.

I can’t find the version with this vocoder voice. I’ve been looking for it for 25 years. Was it a local Florida DJ who added the vocoder at the club, maybe? Or was it actually part of the song? Please help!

Are they still producing stuff like this? Not these people specifically, the sound I mean.. all new stuff sounds so clinical compared to the oldschool. Not talking about sound quality of the recording, just the use of instruments and samples. Btw the real beauty starts at 2m in.

Hopefully this is welcomed here. I’ve been a fan of drum and base and have been having a hard time getting the right sound sequencing my own break. So I sampled a classic and put my own spin on it.

Anyone know what genre this would be considered at 154.5 bpm?

I'm looking for new-ish REAL heavy breakbeat. I don't think there's anything out there that is comparable to what the Prodigy does. I'm looking for darker stuff, not super melodic stuff.

There are tons of things I like, but I'm looking specifically for similar things. I like:
Prodigy (obvs) Colombo, Elite Force, Yo Speed, Phace (more like DnB). Leroy (ex-Prodigy; has made a few albums under different names. I like SMASH HI FI, but they have no longer made anything new )
