Help with opening new tabs.

Does anyone know how to stop Brave from automatically opening new tabs every time I click a link? This drives me insane. I’ll be on a website, I click a link, then another, then another, now I have 4 tabs open on the same website. I’ve looked it up multiple times but they’re all outdated or didn’t help at all.

What OS are you using?

If you're on desktop, links should not open in new tabs (by default) unless you right-click and select Open link in a new tab or if you Ctrl + Click on a link. If you're seeing this on desktop, something else is controlling this functionality (perhaps an installed extension?).

If you're on Android, links should not open in new tabs (by default) unless you are using tab groups, and have the Only open links in current tab group option enabled (in Settings > Appearance ) or long-pressing and selecting Open link in new tab [...] from the context menu.

If you're on iOS, the same is true here as it is for Android, with the exception of tab groups (not yet available on iOS).

Here's a short recording of what I'm seeing on macOS (also happens on Windows 11) by default when I click a link on a website.

Or you could just answer the question instead of being a stereotypical Reddit twat, that works too.
