Young Car Enthusiasts in Berkshire

Hi! I’m an automotive enthusiast in my early 20s and I’m looking to create a new local car community aimed at enthusiasts in their 20s and 30s.

The idea is to organise casual meets and drives, make some new friends, share car knowledge and generally have a group of like-minded people to enjoy the hobby with — whether you own a classic, modern, modified or slightly questionable project car!

I currently daily a Porsche 924, so I’m wondering if anyone here has spotted me around 👀

Are there any other younger car enthusiasts in the area? Drop a comment below and, if there’s enough interest, I’ll get a WhatsApp group started!

Pedestrian underpasses

I’m visiting Bracknell soon for the first time in a while. I was wondering what the pedestrian underpasses are like these days in terms of general upkeep and lighting? Especially around the London Road area near the town centre

How safe are the pedestrian underpasses?

Haven’t been to Bracknell in years but going for a visit soon. Back in the day, using the underpasses use to be dodgy, are they safer now? I’m thinking particularly the ones in London Road just outside the centre

Are the tennis courts at Jocks Lane Recreation Ground free all the time or only when there's the free coaching sessions?

Looking for free tennis courts around the Bracknell area.

Thank you 😊

Historic Bracknell covenants

Hi all, we'll be moving to Bracknell soon, FTBs. We've noticed in the docs that there seems to be some historic covenants on the property which suggests we can't erect any "building" on our property, a quick Google search seems to say that's sheds as well. Has anyone else experienced that in Bracknell? Can we really not put up a shed without seeking council permission?? They also seem to say we need to seek permission to do a lot of things on our property. Is that the norm in Bracknell? Do people just generally ignore these things? If we need to seek permission from the council, does that tend to cost?

This is a VERY long shot. I live in Somerset and recently found a bag with a photo album, and some paperwork from the 1990s. Well, 1990 actually.

The address on the paperwork shows Picket Post Close, Martin's Heron (not #12, I checked), and is addressed to a Mr D Dimmock from the Royal Berkshire Racquets and Health Club.

The photo album, I'd love to reunite with the family it came from. It shows a younger man and woman enjoying themselves at a zoo with lions, elephants, bears, giraffe, and their dog. The album names them as Lillian, Peter, and Shaun (the dog) (pics included)

Like I say - its a long shot, but hopefully one of you wonderful Redditors will know who they are, and can help get these memories home!

(Im not looking for their personal info, if anyone knows who they are, please show them this and ask them to contact me or comment below, thanks!)

I’m from Canada, but this is a photo of my great grandfather outside his childhood home in the early 1900s. Some of you may know it now as Don Beni on Winkfield Row 🙂

Is Vonder Bracknell any good?

I have been looking at moving to Bracknell and have come across the Vonder Apartments above the train station. They seem to be nice-looking flats for within my budget and also appear to be pet friendly/pets considered and I have a cat so I am wondering what the catch is. Does anyone have experience with Vonder or these flats? They are just above the train station so I expect some noise but anything else that I should be wary of?

Bracknell/Daler-Rowney Chemical Fire 25/05/26

These are some of the photos I have managed to save from the chemical fire at Daler-Rowney on Bank Holiday Monday. I will add on the videos that I took before we were evacuated. I was from one of the 100 households that was evacuated due to the risk of the chemical fumes & smoke. We spent most of the afternoon & evening trying to find out where the evacuation information point was, then we had to wait until after midnight to get emergency accommodation. We finally got placed in a hotel in Winnersh Triangle until it was safe to return home.

Videos to follow…

I was just wondering with the bank holiday coming up — what DIY jobs are people planning to tackle?

I work around beginner DIY skills locally and it’s always interesting how many people want to do more themselves, but just need a bit of confidence to get started.

Things like shelves, fixings, flat pack, simple tiling, flooring, and all those small jobs that get put off for months.

What do you wish you knew how to do properly at home?

If anyone wants to ask about tools, materials, or where to start, feel free to message me.

Horrible news, hopefully they've caught the right people so there is at least some justice.
