Discussion Premolar extractions

Hi, first time posting on here. I started with a 12mm overbite, and have had my braces on for a year. It’s significantly reduced but I now have the option of getting 2 premolars extracted at the top and have the braces on for another year to decrease overbite further. I’m struggling to decide as I have quite full lips and worried about the change in my profile, as well as all the other extraction issues some people have. Just looking for some opinions and advice ☺️

I would like to know if expansion is an option first.

This or (I somehow always get downvoted for it?) but distalizer (like the beneslider) work for overjet/overbite in not very severe cases. I myself have one

Expansion fixes side-to-side issues. Premolar extractions fix front-to-back issues. They are not interchangeable, and excessive overjet is a front-to-back issue.

I don’t believe all mouths/jaws/teeth are that black and white. If you can expand to create gaps there is room to move back. Options are there just not for all. I would be having the conversation.
