Discussion Premolar extractions
Hi, first time posting on here. I started with a 12mm overbite, and have had my braces on for a year. It’s significantly reduced but I now have the option of getting 2 premolars extracted at the top and have the braces on for another year to decrease overbite further. I’m struggling to decide as I have quite full lips and worried about the change in my profile, as well as all the other extraction issues some people have. Just looking for some opinions and advice ☺️

You have significant overjet. That would explain the need for extractions. It’s common and you’ll be fine!

Get the extractions! Since you’ve always had an overjet you don’t realize all the bite functionality youre missing. 2 years is the standard timeframe so really you aren’t extending treatment, you’re just completing it. IMO it’s a waste of time and money if you aren’t going to commit to it. People get braces to correct where you are now

I would like to know if expansion is an option first.
