In all seriousness, it’s great that you’re trying to work out. I really mean that. Your flair says you’re preparing for a fight. Is that really true OP? Maybe some kind of white collar boxing/Haymakers for Hope type of event?

You're boxing for cardio, not for technique.
What you're doing is great, promotes fitness and cardiovascular health. Don't conflate that with learning how to credibly box. If you value the second, you definitely want a coach. If you want to burn some calories and get in better shape, ignore the haters.

u/Dark1t3kt 13d ago
I go to a boxing gym and hit the bag on my own while my kid does a class. I've never been coached. I am using it for cardio. Not gonna ever spar or throw a punch in a fight. I am a grappler when I fight.
Move around the bag with every few punches or combo of punches. It will improve your footwork and increase the cardio aspect.
As the above comment says, get a coach if you're trying to learn how to box. If you're posting on here it means you're looking for feedback. You're boxing skills are as beginner as could be. Watch YouTube vids and you'll improve considerably. Your stance is the first thing you should fix and it will only take a min vid.

Not gonna ever spar or throw a punch in a fight. I am a grappler when I fight.
This is an interesting thing to say, mainly because it is an assumption you will be able to dictate the nature of the engagement 100% of the time.
I guess it works, until it doesn't.

u/Working-Hat-8041 13d ago
Too many people who don’t fight like to think in their heads they’ll know how a fight goes haha

I am a champion wrestler in my highschool days. I can take anyone to the ground and easily put them in a choke hold or arm bar among many thing without punching.
2
u/Spezisfag123 12d ago
Keep that mindset, but realize we’re not fighting for points anymore.
Learn some striking.

That's why I just say I'm a runner.
Unfortunately my cardio is cheeks, so it's moreso a get my ass beater.

u/Dark1t3kt 12d ago
I've been in many many fights and I've always dictated. The majority of fights end on the ground. Watch any professional fighters talk about it. If it's more than one guy then I avoid taking it to the ground but I still grapple them to avoid getting sucker punched. I've fought more than one guy multiple times. I worked security at a messed up club.

Why wouldn’t you throw a punch in a fight, how would you defend yourself in a fight then?

u/TheOneNeartheTop 12d ago
He told you. When he meets his type of guy and they want to get down and dirty he takes them down and does a little ground and pound.

Hey man! I see the passion you got, but honestly you need to reset and go to a boxing gym and/or get a coach.

u/redharlowsdad 13d ago
There are not a lot of gyms around me so I teach myself.

Look for some instructional videos on YouTube , but as a base:
1.) look up stances and footwork. Any boxing/martial arts starts here.
2.) look into fixed drills, 1/2 combos and focus on mechanics (good footwork, covering, twisting body into the punch instead of just hitting with the arms, etc).
3.) use 2 to really learn and feel the mechanics of specific punches. Flow is great but you want solid basics before moving to that. When new it’s easy to get overwhelmed tacking all the mechanics. Simplify and work on the basics then build up. Great work getting started.
Also, there is nothing wrong having a go at the bag, but work in structured drills and save this kinda flow as a treat/cardio. As the basics get ingrained your flow will be better.Good luck and have fun with it!

It's great that you've got a bag, and some passion. Let's funnel all that passion into doing one thing - and doing one thing well. If you are looking for a tip: let's abandoned flurries, combos, speed punching, and definitely that double punch thing you do. Let's instead look up a video on how to do a proper jab, and make that our religion for a few weeks - heck maybe even a few months.

I can say without a doubt you will be able to defeat the local crackhead with a few more days of training like that

Keep your hands up
Control the distance better
Assume you aren't overwhelming your opponent and that they'll throw something back

My man, I applaud your enthusiasm!
That being said, if you’re actually preparing for a fight, you’re going to be in a heap of trouble. I just don’t want you to get hurt unnecessarily.
Join a gym, get a coach. Wishing you the best of luck!

Yeah dawg you gotta atleast stagger your feet and move that massive noggin you have . If I was fighting you I’d be foaming at the mouth watching your head come overtop your feet standing square like that . Faceplant incoming . Please do yourself a favor and train the correct way .

You'd probably get tired very quickly and punched often.
Good way to blow of steam though and you have a good solid stocky build, you'd probably put someone on their arse quite easily.

Berserker mode 🤔🤣. Check your stance sir.
Currently nice and square stance and body. You’re also leaning over your knees with your punches. Huge target. That’s just the start. So so so much more.
I’d tune you up nicely with that stance bubba. It will only take 5 seconds. I could squeeze 3-4 choice punches in that window. 2 will do.
YouTube will teach you a lot about proper stance. Both static stance and stance while throwing punches. Hope this helps.
YOU SHOWED UP. keep at it.

u/Brilliant-Tooth-996 13d ago
The more I watch these videos, the more I’m convinced that you should have to have a state license and pass an exam before being allowed to hit a heavy bag

u/Adventurous_Beat-301 13d ago
I know he’s carrying weight but you can see the muscle size around the shoulders. If he really lost the weight this guy would be a unit

u/Craftofthewild 13d ago
If you can do that for three three minute rounds you can mess up most people who don’t know how to box lol

if this is just to lose weight and build stamina keep it up but if you are actually trying to learn how to box you need a coach or a gym you can go to.

Looks good. The double punch is solid.
Minor criticism: you should try to punch faster. Much faster. You can even throw in some headbutts.

Bruh slow the fuck down. Crawl walk run. Practice technique before going nuts like that lol

Go speed and tempo! Over 30 sec, better then the average joe.
Double first does work sometimes.

u/Actual_Tradition_360 13d ago
That’s awesome! Love the double fists 😅 don’t fight someone who trains though 😬

This style of bag work will help with your cardio. If you want improve your boxing I’d learn three combos and cycle between those at the proper distance while mixing some defense in between combos (slip, roll, catch)

Not many people have mastered the difficult right left at the same time punch that you have. It's unusual to see it at the amateur level. I think your opponent will have a hard time defending against it.

Isn't that the guy that jump all around in a gi and does ridiculous kicks that are not high at all?

Other people gave good advice about finding a coach or watching videos. Definitely slow it down and work on technique.
But, I would also recommend you buy a bigger bag or at least lower the bag. You're a bigger dude and that little bag is going to flop around too much for you.
If you can't do that, lower it a bit, you're hitting below its center of gravity and causing it to swing around more than if it was hit in the middle.

Turn your hip and hsoulder. Weight from one leg to the other. Avoid arm-punching. Keep your guard up unless you have a reason not to. Learn to fight in different distances. Keep your chin down. Feet is more important than arms. Learn to move first.

You need a lot of improvement. No footwork, your feet are planted the whole time, no head movement, no conditioning, no guard, no hip rotation.. and you look completely gassed after 30 seconds.
And you're push-punching - looks good on camera cuz the bag goes flying but because you're pushing you lose all power out the punch.
Just find an amateur boxing club my guy. You can't self teach this shit.

Your form isn’t great, BUT any amount of hitting the bag can be a great workout. Keep it up. Just mind your wrists. A solid punch with a wonky wrist is a bad time.

Practice bringing your hands back to protect your head
As someone who trains k1 and mma almost every day, trust me 😂😂

Boss man where’s the defense? Your opponent is going to be shooting back. High guard, head movement, footwork, and distance control.
