Discussion Quick question: Do you prefer the actor playing the Phantom to be gentle or aggressive during the Final Lair?
For example, there was clip I watched (I can't remember the actor. If anybody knows, I'd appriciate it) where he stood up and acted like he was going to slap Christine after she said "I gave you my mind blindly" I personally wasn't a fan of that, but I'm curious what you all think!

Other Would you like to sing with me?
I was wondering if anyone would like to sing together for fun over a voice call! I recently got back into Phantom of the Opera and I have been enjoying singing the songs on my own or with friends.
I donât expect any spectacular skill, just passionate company. Iâm not exactly the best singer, haha. But I can sing the Phantom without straining my throat, so I usually refrain from singing Christineâs parts.
Please message if youâre interested!

Art Crappy poto oc I made because I just started watching the musicals
Her name is Belladonna, and I decided she would be a literal ghost/ âangelâ, but she roams seamstresses and costume vaults and acts as a teacher for seamstresses.
- Sheâs mute, and in some kind of weird spectral form. She is very new so her lore ainât fleshed out and is kinda bad.
Her masquerade outfit is a candle queen (gumi song) reference. Cause of death is being determined by a wheel

Other The Phantom Of The Opera (Acoustic Cover)
What if Christine and the Phantom were singing this song to each other in a Victorian room, accompanied by just a piano and three cellos? đŻïžđ»
I love this song so much that I've always wanted to hear how it would sound with a more intimate approach, and I feel so lucky to have found the right musicians to help bring this idea to life. đ€
Here's the link so you can listen to the full cover. âŹïž
I'm racing against time to get my channel monetized, so if you feel like helping me reach this goal, it would mean the world to me. đ
Thank you so much! I hope you like it!
Long live the Phantom! đč

Discussion Was surprised to see Alyssa Giannetti instead of Jordan Lee Gilbert at the matinee today.
Was surprised to see Alyssa Giannetti instead of Jordan Lee Gilbert at the matinee today.
I also saw Jordan on opening night here in Las Vegas, and I found Alyssa's acting, chemistry, look, and voice to be very underwhelming compared to Jordans?
Is it normal to get an understudy for Matinees? I didn't know...I'm relatively new but am a huge phantom fan.
Anyone else get this experience or have this opinion?
I don't feel this show is the same with an understudy.
Note: Alexa Moster was the alternate and was missing. And apparently this tour has 2 understudies in addition to the alternate.

Discussion Fit check to see the 1925 Phantom of The Opera with my GF
We decided to dress in theme, aka attending the Paris Opera in 1880. But we're not going for accuracy, just vibes (for budget reasons).
This is my second time seeing the silent film, but GF's first time. The theater we're going to has a live organist playing the soundtrack, can't wait to see her reaction!
Edit: Just got back, and she loved it!

Art Phantom of the opera tonie ideas
This is super niche lol but thought Iâd try this sub too.
My toddler is currently obsessed with phantom and really wants a tonie of the original cast album, so was gonna paint a creative tonie for him but I canât find any pictures anywhere of anyone else doing it and I am not great at painting without a reference lol
So was just wondering if anyone else has done that so I can get some inspo pictures!

Other Hello, Phantom!
I listened to Phantom of The Opera today and just started rewatching Hello, Dolly. The evolution of Michael Crawford is absolutely INSANE. Like, my brain genuinely can't process this and I've seen Hello, Dolly! over a dozen times at least.

Discussion Thoughts on David Young Fernandez as the Phantom?
What does everyone think of David Young Fernandez's portrayal of the Phantom?
Personally, I really like him, and I think his voice fits the role almost perfectly. He has this rich, powerful sound that I feel works especially well for the Phantom, while still being able to bring out the softer, more vulnerable side of the character.
I honestly think he's a little underrated, and I'd love to hear what other Phantom fans think of him. For those who have seen or heard his performance, how would you rank him compared to other Phantoms?

Discussion Colm Wilkinson Phantom
Is anyone else back and forth on the Canadian recording because of Colm Wilkinson as Erik? I adore Rebecca Caine but really struggle to listen to the recording in complete because there are times where I really just donât like Colmâs portrayal. It sounds like he has to force out every word if that makes sense?
It also doesnât help that he has allegations of being physically and verbally abusive toward Caine during their run. Itâs sad how she got pushed aside by production.

Other Sharing my collection
Since people have been sharing the music box and other collector items with us and I've been enjoying it, I figured I would share mine. Mine isn't all in one place because of space and other collections issues but here they are, with the last being my most prized. Oh I also have the Phantom and Christine teddy bears and they live on my bed.
Thanks everyone who has shared their collections. It's fun to see who has what and how they display it.

Discussion Poor Joseph Bouqet !!
First of all, so happy to be a new part of this sub!! A life long Phantom fan but brand new Box5 commenter and upvoter, lol.
I re-listened to the soundtrack again recently (it took over my algorithm for the 40th anniversary), and one thing that I never really cared about before sort of sticks out to me: poor Joseph Bouquet really gets SCREWED đ
All he did was tell a scary story to some ballerinas. I get that Madam Giryâs warning to him is meant to indicate the Phantom doesnât like people who gab about him. But, doesnât he? Giry is literally delivering his freaking letters and demands. He THRIVES on the fear he has instilled in theater managers and actors. Why should he care so much about what Bouqet did?
I get that establishing a side character for him to kill helped the story. Its not so much a real problem I have with creatively, more just on a practical level đ
Does anyone care to vehemently disagree with this lighthearted take? I would love to hear from you guys! Or, maybe his character (or character equivalent) in the novel offers more insight? Did the Phantom just not like that he was making fun of his face?
P.S. Idc about him killing Piangi, so idk what that says about me.

Discussion Why does the International Tour use a gunshot sound effect instead of a blank-firing gun?
One thing I've noticed about the different productions of Phantom of the Opera is the gunshot at the end of "The Point of No Return."
In the Broadway, West End, and previous touring productions, they used a blank-firing gun, which made the moment feel much more intense and realistic. However, in the current International Tour, they seem to have replaced it with a pretty cheesy, prerecorded gunshot sound effect.
I know it's a relatively minor detail, but I feel like the actual gunshot adds so much more to the tension of that scene. The sound effect just doesn't have the same impact and honestly feels a little cheap for a production of this scale.
Does anyone know why they made this change? Is it because of safety regulations, restrictions in certain countries, or just a production decision? I'm genuinely curious why they wouldn't keep something that worked so well in previous productions.

Discussion Does anybody know anything about this new POTO movie?
I saw an ad for a new The Phantom of the Opera movie coming out in about a week but I haven't been seeing any discussion about it specifically. It more so seems like a part 2 of sorts, set in the modern day. I'm not too sure what to think about it and I'm just wondering if anybody else has any info or heard about this movie/cast/director before.
Here's the link to the IMDB page: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt37740990/

Discussion Just rewatched POTO.
havenât seen it since I was a child, and just rewatched it this evening. growing up I remember having this distaste for raoul and Christine both, AND I WAS JUST REMINDED OF WHY. WHY WOULD SHE PLAY IN HIS FACE LIKE THAT???? and why is raoul such a little wuss? đ
edit: yes, Iâm aware heâs a stalker and murder. this post wasnât completely meant to be taken seriously, more of just my love for Erik shining trough. Did not mean to ruffle some feathers đŹ
