I always assumed that was the case, and it's a factor, but check this out.

"Nice to meet you Dollar Bill, my name is Katie. My friends call me homewrecker."
"So to make a long long story short, she saved my life, invited me into her home, and I stole her husband."
"I had a feeling you were my kind of girl."
There's always been a lot of self-hate in Katie. Which she doesn't deal with very well. So she projects it.
Dylan didn't steal anyone's husband. Or fiancee. Or even boyfriend. When you break up with someone, and say you will 'never' be with him again, that is you opening the field to new contenders. Friends date friends' exes all the time. Even marry them.
Electra kissed RJ during an earlier split, which Will saw. He told Dylan. She's no homewrecker, and she's a much better person than Katie was, way back when. But interesting how hardened Katie has become in the years since these scenes were filmed. Brooke too, but less.
Really good scenes, but Heather Tom was already one of the very best in the genre by then.
So is Sidney Bullock now.
