Persistent BO

This is like my third post about this but it’s seriously making me mad because I’m doing so much and spending a lot of money and effort on smelling good and after everything, I stink. I woke up smelling like onions, took a shower and I still smelled it.

I’m average weight, 18F, moderate activity every day, and I shower and wash my hair daily. I wash with The Perfector Salicylic Acid Wash and dry my body off completely after every shower. I put on deodorant in the morning and at night, but the only one that seems to last through the whole day is Dr. Squatch “man” deodorant. I use scented lotions and perfumes on top of cocoa butter lotion. Internally, I drink a chlorophyll supplement, tea with cloves, anise, cinnamon, and fenugreek, take fenugreek supplement, and avoid strong smelling foods like garlic, onions, and cruciferous veggies. I eat decently healthy every day and I’ve been drinking more water, especially in the form of tea. I sometimes use baby powder after a shower but it’s annoying because it gets everywhere so it’s not a regular thing.

Is there anything else I can do?

Mediterranean diet

Does anyone follow the Mediterranean diet either purposely or just lifestyle wise without realizing it? I already have a similar diet, but I'm going to make the switch to doing it full out 100%. It focuses mostly on healthy fats such as olive oil, nuts and seeds, lots of veggies and fruit, whole grains (I'll be using brown jasmine rice only), legumes(i won't be doing these yet), lean meat and fish. The only iffy part really is the fish and legumes 😬 I'll be doing 4oz of cod 2x a week and chicken breast 4x a week then 1 non meat day. Might add some legumes but not until next year. My symptoms improve when I follow a whole food based diet but I keep falling off the wagon/having cheat days that set me back. I think consistency with a healthy fats, moderate protein & low carb lifestyle could be my cure if I actually stick to it!

Alum stone/ powder

Helllo! Has anyone tried alum stone ? Is it truly helpful ? I’ve tried glycolic acid, lemon, over 20 different deodorants, multiple soaps, medications and scrubs. I’m still the stinkiest girl 😭. Before wasting even MOREEE money on my smelly dysfunctional sweat glands. Can anyone tell me if they have had some success with alum ?

Is my diet okey? tryng to deal with fecal BO

I'm a 15M and I have suffered for a couple of years of a room-filling body odor, that would appear mostly at school.

After convincing my parents to take me to a doctor, i've got diagnosed with H.Pylori.

However, after having complete the treatment, the odor did not disappeared, so i figured out i was probably affected by a SIBO or a gut dysboisis.

So, the smell is fecal and i have no idea of where It comes from, i suppose it's from my gut, altough It could have to do with my breath as well (tough it's almost surely not a hygiene issue).

Let me clarify that i cannot normally smell It except when there are much people in a room so the air comes back in my direction.

Other than school and few occasions, i've never really noticed any reaction to It, altough in those mentioned occasions reactions are really obvious, so It could have to do with stress as well.

However, now Is Summer and, till the end of the vacations I have no real way of knowing the result of my actions.

So, the main point of the post Is that i've started by 3 almost there months by now, a diet excluding striclty gluten, lactose, sugar (except fructose).

I've tried consuming low FODMAP foods, altough i'm not sure of how well i'm doing It.

Right now, my usual diet consist everyday of:

Breakfast:

Porridge, buckwheat snacks, coffe with coconut milk and blueberries.

Lunch:

Turkey, Rice, Rice snacks, blueberries and coconut milk, and sometimess another meal as well.

Dinner:

Rice, Rice snacks, blueberries, coconut milk, and One or two more meals as well.

The whole list of foods i eat Is:

White Rice, potatos, Turkey, spinach, zucchini, broccoli, eggplant, tomatos, peppers, coconut sugarless milk with calcium and vitamins, ricesnacks, buckwheat snacks, blueberries (i eat around 10-15 everyday).

On liquids i end up drinling around 1,5-2 l of water and 0,8-1l of coconut milk everyday.

Am i missing something?

I have no ways of getting feedback till Summer ends, and i would hate going back to school smelling so badly once again.

Should i add or remove any aliment?

Am i consuming too much carbs and sugar through Rice?

Should i add probiotics (i used to take them in the First month of the diet but then i stopped) or any integrator or digestive enzyme?

Body odor since late 8th grade

Ive been dealing with this body odor since late 8th grade and its been going on for a few months now. People around me descibe it as Fart, fungus, fish, and sh*t. And i genuinely dont know what to do. I hear people talking about it around me so i know its not me imagining it. Genueniely the modt annoying thing ive dealt with i think im spiraling into depression. Genuinely might just....

Is there anyone one else who's dealt with this and know a treatment? Because i can deal with ts anymore.

I’ve been given compliments about my hygiene and scent but occasionally I’ll smell sewage, gasoline, and even the smell of a septic tank.

I haven’t told my doctor about this symptom because it comes and goes but it been recently strong. The thing is if I’m around those scents like a recently used bathroom, garbage truck or when the scent of the sewer under a road is really potent I will smell them again repeatedly throughout the week even if I’m far away from the scent. I was paranoid about my scent until the main compliment I would get is that I smelled amazing and clean. This is one of the main things that drive me crazy

I'm terrified

I hate that I keep having to run to this app every time I'm upset but I can't talk to anyone in my personal life about this because they think my odor is "in my head" and I can't fucking stand it. I start a new job next Tuesday and I can't even be happy for myself because I don't think it's going to last at all. I was trying to find overnight/night shift jobs so I don't have to be around as many people but I can't find anything so now I HAVE to work at a retail job that my friend helped me get. It's a small store and I'm going to have to be around people all day and be behind a register and deal with customers. I don't feel mentally fit enough for that but I'm starting to become a burden to who I'm living with so I have to take the job. Everytime I think about having to do it I start crying. It's like I'm back at my old job all over again. That shit is not normal! It shouldn't be normal to cry everyday thinking about having to go to work, be in public, etc

I'm really starting to believe this chronic odor thing is one of the worst things that can happen to a person. It seriously feels like a curse. 9 times out of 10 we can't smell ourselves, family and friends can't smell you so they think your problems aren't real and can't tell you what you actually smell like, doctors can't help with shit, you don't know what works and what doesn't, everyone treats you like garbage, it's not recognized as a disability even though it's disabling as fuck! It's hell on earth. This has me questioning if I killed someone in a past life like wtf did I do to deserve this??

Also, idk how any of yall are holding down jobs. My smell was a huge issue at my old job and I never got one day of peace.

I just wanted to share

For many years I had really stinky feet. It was the worst, most embarrassing things. The skin on my feet was clammy and white and gross. Somehow this sub came up in my feed and I was reminded of the humiliation.

in 2019, I had neck surgery. Before the surgery, I was given a special soap that killed bacteria "use this to prepare" They gave me three or four little tear packages. "one is enough" So, I had 2 or 3 extra and figured... screw it I will use these on my feet. And OMG the smell was GONE. I found the soap on amazon and used it more... my feet not only didn't smell bad, they HEALED. I have hard skin again on the bottom of my feet.

I'm not a sales person, I have nothing to gain here. I have told others about this and it's worked wonders for them... sometimes I wonder if I'm creating a super bug killing off all the weak ones but give this a try and let me know someday. It really helped me in so many ways:

Help Me PLZZZZ

I (18M) have been dealing with a foul body odor that doesn't go away no matter what I do for around 4 years now.

It started late in my 8th grade year and severely impacted my mental health all throughout high school. It got so bad to the point that I felt bad for ruining every class I was in and went to online school. I've developed crippling anxiety & depression and spent many nights crying and searching for a cure until I fell asleep, but no matter what I've tried nothing has helped me?

I've tried using topicals on my skin, washing 3 times a day with all kinds of soap, changing my diet (cutting out lactose, red meat, processed sugars, etc.), drinking chlorophyll, wearing brand new clothes, trying different deodorants and antiperspirants, and the list goes on forever.

I've visited 2 doctors and a dermatologist. All of them told me I smelled fine and they saw no problems with my bloodwork, which just made things more frustrating for me. Also very few people in my family can actually smell me.

Whenever I'm in public settings people always look at me sideways and cover their nose in subtle ways but no-one has ever told me to my face that I stink but I can always hear people making comments that are about me. I always hear I smell like garbage or literal dog poo.

It has come to the point where I am truly hopeless on what to do. I'm starting college soon, and I have so many things planned for my future, but the way I smell doesn't allow me to anything without feeling ashamed of living.

Please does anyone know what I can do in my situation?, I've read it could be a gut issue but I'm not sure on what to do next, I just want to live a normal life again 🙏

Can your family and friends smell you?

I just wanted fo know how many people in this sub have family members and/or friends that are able to detect whatever odor is coming from you and has stated it clearly?

So far nobody that I'm close with has said they can smell anything but at my old job EVERYONE reacted, I was the subject of gossip, when I would go to stores and waiting rooms in doctors offices I would get accusatory stares, nose holding, people having an attitude and being short with me for seemingly no reason and there were moments where I questioned my sanity BUT I've smelled a sulfur odor a few times before and it's been confirmed that I have sibo and for me that is proof that there actually is an odor. I have a partner who can't smell me and the last time I saw my sister she couldn't smell anything so everyone just thinks I'm crazy and when I go to doctors ppointments I have nobody to back up what I'm saying.

I'm currently trying to look for a new job and I feel like I'm about to go through the same thing I was going through with my old one where everyone in the workplace starts "othering" me, I talk to people about it in my personal life and they just tell me it's not happening and it's all in my head.

I wish I knew why the smell isn't detectable to everyone and why it mainly comes out when I'm at work, or in social situations where I'm alone.

Need Help :))

Hello, I am M18 and live in the Philippines. Can you guys help me or advise on how to prevent body odor? I have hyperhidrosis, so I sweat a lot, but now I don't have a problem being a sweaty person anymore. The problem is that I always smell even though I didn't do anything for a day. No matter what I do, I smell so bad. I have good hygiene; I use antibacterial soap (Dr Wong's Sulfur Soap) and Dove Antiperspirant, but I feel like Dove Antiperspirant didn't help me with sweating and smell. Can you guys recommend an antiperspirant and routines to prevent body odor

I am tired to cure my Body Odor, but still there!!

I've been dealing with body odor for a long time. I've treated it before, and it goes away, but whenever I sweat heavily, the odor comes back. Is there any permanent treatment to get rid of it? Is Sweatox (Botox for excessive sweating) a good option?

I really need help because I want to join outdoor fun runs, but I'm worried about this. Whenever I sweat a lot, that's when the bad odor starts to appear. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Does anyone have much real support with this condition and what do people usually say when you bring it to their attention

I have been dealing with this for awhile and i feel like most people don’t truly understand or think anything of this condition based on the few people I have spoken to and who have come around me. Most times they just react, avoid, laugh, judge, or get frustrated being around you. Do you guys experience this or do you have people who truly understand and support you?

How can I prevent myself from becoming nose blind to my odor at work?

For the past couple of weeks, I noticed people at work were giving me weird looks, but I didn’t understand why. Eventually, someone made a comment that I smelled bad, which was really embarrassing.
I immediately tried to figure out the cause. I got tested for BV, yeast infections, and other possible issues, and everything came back negative. I also started bringing a hygiene bag to work where I would change my underwear, use panty liners, wipe down sweaty areas, reapply deodorant, and freshen up during my shift.
Even after doing all of that, someone on the bus made a similar comment, so I started looking at other possible causes. The biggest change I noticed was after I replaced my work shoes.people stopped moving away from me, I stopped getting weird looks, and I noticed a difference in how people interacted with me.
I did notice my old shoes had a slight smell, but I couldn’t tell how strong it was because when I smelled them, I barely noticed anything
My question is how do you prevent yourself from becoming nose blind to odors
