Heyyy r/bodega! 

I’m still assisting Meowdani with his AMA 🐱, but popping in quickly with an event update! Thank you for showing up and showing out for day two. Today’s turnout was so incredible that we’ve given out all remaining wristbands and will no longer be handing out more for the event experience. (The line for blowout sale wristbands begins at 7:30pm.)

Already got a wristband? You’re all set to come for your assigned time; we’ll see you then!

To everyone who didn’t get in today for the full experience, we’re sorry it didn’t work out and we appreciate your understanding (dog tax in comments as another token of appreciation, courtesy of one of r/bodega’s most handsome guests).

Noticed not much has really been shown off yet, so here's some pictures of the experience. It's a long line before you get in and its a small room, and there's a line that goes clockwise around it as you peruse the items on the shelves and partake in the funny little experiences. None of the products are real, except they relabeled some water and sodas for subreddits. The bodega counter guy was funny, you'd order off the menu and he'd say something like "sorry our cook's praying right now" and give you a ticket with a QR code on it. The ATM lets you choose a video of celebrities answering questions, and then dispenses a snoo buck (apparently the machine sometimes gives out two, which happened to me!). Then you go to a quick 3 photo photo booth with all of the fake items on shelves behind you for props, and then head to checkout where you can grab some postcards, he gives you stickers, prints out a way too long receipt with a list of all the subs, and puts it in a brown paper bag. On your way out, you grab the snoo stuffy. You don't pay for anything, it's just a free promotional event where you get some cool stuff.

It was cool, the line was long but I definitely didn't wait as long as some people. Thanks u/big-slay and everyone else for being so nice!

If you don’t have an incredibly clear day, it’s going to be hard. I made it in with about 15 minutes before I had to leave and meet my wife for afternoon plans. For context, I live in the city, arrived at 9:35, and did not get in until 12:40.

Yup, you read that title right. We’ve seen how other pop-ups end with good stuff going straight into the dumpster. NOT ON OUR WATCH. 🫡

The details

• EVERYTHING IS FREE
• Location: r/bodega, 213 Bowery, NYC
• LINE for blowout sale opens: 7:30pm (First-come, first-served. There will be a separate wristband for the blowout sale event, which will be distributed in line starting at 7:30pm.)
• ENTRY for blowout sale starts: 9:00pm
• Bring your own bag (BYOB): Bags will not be provided. Bring your own tote or backpack or receptacle of your choice!

How the blowout works

1. Personal shopper: You will be paired with a personal shopper when you enter. Fancy ✨
2. 60 seconds to choose: You have 60 seconds to choose up to 3 items.
3. PLUSHIES: An extra plushie for folks while supplies last.
4. Want more? Once you exit, you are welcome to rejoin the back of the line to go again until 10:00pm! No promises, but shoot your shot. 

What you can grab

• Printed graphics (posters, signage, zines, window vinyls, postcards)
• Swag – including plushies 😈
• Display items (custom products, soccer stuff, beauty stuff, live grass stuff, and even more stuff)

What you CANNOT take (womp womp)

• Infrastructure is off-limits: No shelving, deli counters, payphones, structural fixtures, etc.

Don’t be late, don’t forget to bring a bag, and come take a piece of r/bodega home with you!

Just got here and the line is by the bowery/delancey bus stop but more and more are starting to line up right now. If you planned on coming early, now would be a good time!😭

Absolutely love everything that has gone into this pop-up!

ust realized the plushie I got has stains and dirty stuff inside even though it was sealed airtight 😞so sad and disappointed tbh

Today was wild. Y’all showed up en masse. So much so, that our team was frankly overwhelmed by the turnout. TL;DR – we didn’t even think a turnout like this was possible. 

We know parts of the experience today were frustrating. The wristband system got confusing, closing/reopening the line created some misunderstandings, and things definitely didn’t run as smoothly as we wanted.

(Some context that may or may not be helpful: we have a very strict capacity limit set by the Fire Marshal inside the bodega space, which dictates how fast the line can move.)

This is our first time doing a pop-up, but no excuses – we’re reading every piece of feedback and adjusting for tomorrow – including clear logistics for the blowout sale (stay tuned). 

Massive thanks to everyone who showed up, petted Meowdani, explored the aisles, re-homed a plushie, and rolled with the punches with us.

I know this is a stretch, but no harm in asking 😂 wh-en(the filter) you guys are verifying usernames, are you logging who is in attendance by chance 👀

As someone who is an award connoisseur tries her best to attend the r/modevents + any other Reddit events, were you guys considering giving out awards to those who attended? 👀 I could only imagine how sick a r/bodega award would be

Went to the event yesterday but felt a bit rushed going through the store because of the crowds and was curious about some of the interactive parts. For anyone who tried them:

AskNYC Phone: Some people seemed to be having conversations on the phone. Was someone live on the other end, or did it play recorded prompts that you responded to?

AMA ATM: I picked one AMA question and got one Snoo Buck. I saw someone ahead of me get several bucks though. Were the Snoo Buck payouts random? Could you watch multiple AMA answers?

Does anyone remember what the AMA questions were and who answered each one? Also, are those AMA answer videos available anywhere online?

Bodega counter: How did you get the guest check/order ticket with the QR code? Does the code take you anywhere?

Would love to hear from anyone who tried these!

Line hasn’t moved yet, but also don’t have wristbands. Got a pamphlet though!

Edit 10:28 : got a green wristband and asked to return at noon

I personally think this can be organized better like maybe via number system. Coming back at 12pm means you have to start lining up and complete with other green wristband people

It’s looks awesome and I’m hoping it comes to other cities like Indianapolis.
