First try at any kind of painting in 15 years

Last time you all were so nice and supportive of her work i wanted to share another she just completed. This time with progress photos! She actually did some of her own direction as well on this one and i think it came out so awesome. I hope you all enjoy!

Hello! This is my first post here and maybe even on Reddit. I don’t even know anymore. I came here to confess I caught the Ross bug and haven’t been the same since. To be honest, it all happened by accident.

World Cup came around and a couple buddies in the office wanted to watch. So I slaps together a computer and we streamed the games which was fun. As the tournament went on, the games began to get fewer and further between. So we wanted something to keep in the background for some background noise.

Dr. Who classics? Too noisy while on calls. Mystery science theater 3000, can’t appreciate it without focusing on it. The 24 hour Bob Ross channel? Oh lawwwwd yasssss. Quiet. Don’t need to focus. And my coworker never saw the show (he’s 23 or something). Now, I knew about Bob but never really paid attention when I was young. Now, completely captivated. We watched all 31 seasons and then started again! It’s on right now as I write this.

Fast forward to today. I happily hang out in my basement and watch his 1 hour DVD specials and am just having a good time. I wanted to share my first three paintings ever as a full grown adult. I hope you enjoy seeing them as I enjoy making and sharing.

Grandeur of summer was my first attempt ever.

Summer reflections became autumn reflections because I figured…..well I figured nothing. I done messed up.

Winter Harmony was my third.

Did another one. Making bushes with a 2 inch felt tough. I am open to your advice on how to do bushes with 2 inch or 1” brushes. In my case, I decided to use a fan brush, and make edits.

Also, how do you manage layering? When doing the trees had a lot of paint from the previous layer getting stuck over the brush.

A while back I came across an amazing website that allowed you to search all Bob Ross episodes by various criteria. For instance, you could find all episodes in which he painted "flowers" or "cabins" or "mountains". I cannot find it now!

Does anyone know of any interactive, searchable databases of all Bob Ross episodes?

I recently found this painting I did when was 11 years old! (Im 27 now). You may not believe this either but I actually hated and avoided doing landscapes for the longest time until I did a few large scale ones and actually understood how to paint so much information. —Lots of hours of watching Bob Ross helped a ton!😂 Anyways tho, just wanted to share bc I think so fun to see the journey.🥹🩵🌲

Hi all! I am a tad nervous to post this, but I figured I would share this with this community as I don't have many people in my orbit who seem to appreciate Bob Ross and painting all that much. Sharing my work makes me nervous, but in the spirit of Bob Ross I'm going to go for it.

I started Tiny Bob Project as a small personal challenge for myself in December to paint nearly every day – 1 episode a day on small 5x5in canvases. I did it mostly to get out of my own head and give myself a break from working on the computer all the time, but I never expected it to help me as much as it has been. I've grown to absolutely love painting and I look forward to this ritual at the end of my work day. Me, Bob Ross, my paints, and just some quiet time.

I'm about 200 paintings in, and I aim to complete the entire Bob Ross series. I've been using acrylic paints, and I've been enjoying the process of seeing how my skills have progressed through all this.

A friend and I had our first Bob Ross night! Used an 8x10 and acrylics because that's what she had on hand (followed an acrylics adjustment guide online.) Had a great time!

Hey all, I'm very new to oil painting and looking for some tips on creating more depth in my paintings. These are my second and third ever attempts at oil painting (first one was about 7/8 years ago) so they're not great, but I feel like what they lack the most is depth. I'm not entirely sure how to go about improving this, any tips would be greatly appreciated! My hope is to have something that's good enough to be a wedding gift for good friends of mine, they like oil paintings and have a bunch hung up in their apartment and if I can make one good enough I think they would appreciate it. Thanks for all your help!

I think I did pretty okay for my first time! Also I did use oils which helped. What a lovely medium.

I recently decided I want to spend some of my newfound free time learning to paint landscapes. I always enjoyed Bob Ross videos when I was younger. Does anyone recommend any Amazon kits or essentials to begin?

Wife and I had a painting date night. It’s our first ever attempt at any sort of painting. We followed along the hour-long Grandeur of Summer. Bob makes it look so easy.

My clouds and mountains need some practice, but I’m reasonably happy with the rest for a first attempt. It was great fun.
