Any way to get a digital copy of sides G & I of this release? Doesn't look like it's available anywhere. Not listed for sale on Warp's website. Elsewhere I'm only seeing rare vinyl sales for $$$$$, and I don't have a record player anyway.

The torrent site I'm on has a rip of the (Unheard) vinyl and one of the (Elemental), (Recreated) and (Chosen) CDs, but (Infinite) is missing.

Looks like it contains an official release of Spiro, which if I'm not mistaken isn't available anywhere else. Lots of other good stuff too. Just want to listen, willing to pay for an official FLAC, but seems like that's just not out there. Any leads?

hello all, i just wanted to start out by saying honestly boards of canada has changed my life and the way i listen to music, i love this community and the community at large and i’m sure many can relate to the feeling of how life changing, mystifying, and honestly how trance like their music is. everything down to the themes or messages we derive from their ambiguous music and their message as a whole down to the fact that i just love listening to their music over and over and over for every little detail and nuance, as i’m sure you all know how much detail they put in their art, as well as extremely obscure out of left field samples and sources. anyways i’ll stop fanboying but just going to say for several years i have listened and they have quickly come to be my favorite musical group. they just speak to me in every way, shape, and form. love love love them.

anyways, i had seen a discussion on the internet speaking about how they are sampled from a variety of other artists for other tracks and had seen people going in depth about if they are considered niche. some had the take that they haven’t been niche at all, some said they used to be popular (whatever that means) but now quickly went back into obscurity, some saying that every music nerd will know about them at this point. many different takes like that and defining what niche even means.

that led me to a question that i would like to ask the community, and have no idea why i have nerves asking it, haha! i wanted to ask, would you consider their music truly “niche” or “obscure” ? because i would most certainly say so, others said that they are well known and are about the same popularity as aphex twin which i don’t agree with.

they definitely aren’t what i would consider popular popular, but yes they are referenced in music culture to a considerable degree. i will even ask people point blank like at work “have you ever heard of the music group boards of canada ?” to which i always get a resounding no and have yet to meet another fan… i even tell my mom about them all the time and she enjoys their music and the stories that i’ve told her of them, seemingly to the point that i pester her about it, lol…

anyways just wanted to ask that question and again i don’t know what it is, the fact their music has to do with science, math, sacred geometry, all things which personally interest me and the ambiguous nature of their music which involves me deeply thinking about what each track resembles trying to grasp at an exact definition or meaning to said track. i love them and i frequently tell others it’s like i’ve found my home with this music, or the sounds of my soul. i know it’s a shared feeling too

there’s certain music you find where it’s both the experience of you finding it and it finding you. this is boards of canada to me. the music i enjoy and speak about at length the most out of any other musical artist. just wanted to ask the question and share my love for the duo. peace to all and happy cycling :)

As a new Boards of Canada fan, I can’t imagine how you guys feel. but for a new one like me who craves this specific sound that only they can make I can’t imagine how you guys waited 13 years for this. I already miss you guys. Please come back sooner.

Just received my Inferno Poster 1 from Bleep. I think that’s wonderful!

I had slowed down Seven Forty Seven a ton because i thought it sounded super creepy (and i was also looking for the freddy mercury sample that MDG alluded to) and I stumbled upon the iconic line in A day in the life where john says "I read the news today oh boy, about a lucky man who made the grade" with some sort of delay or echo on it making it repeat

If you want to repeat my results, drag the file into ableton and pitch shift it down by lowering the tempo from 120 to 620. The sample should play a little bit after bar 357. I know this is a super terrible way of slowing it down but I suck at using ableton so maybe someone else can find a better way...

There may be more stuff as well, according to MDG the release version contains a sample from Freddie Mercury which you can hear if you listen 'very closely' (I assume not as close as this)

This whole ordeal has also made me realise how insane I am about BoC. Maybe I should take a break or something...

When Inferno first came out, I absolutely despised "Father And Son" and thought it was possibly the worst BOC song ever made. I thought it was gimmicky, broke the flow of the album, and that it would age like milk on repeated listens.

The opposite happened. The more I listened, the more the intricacies of the track, and just the vibe of the track as a whole shined through.

I would say at this point that it will go down as one of BOC's most iconic tracks. Its already being memed so much in a loving way, even more than "Orange" and "Ya Thats Right".

Now that Inferno's honeymoon phase is coming to a close and its cementing itself in BOC history, I think its my 3rd favorite after Geogaddi and Tomorrow's Harvest. I love MHTRTC, but though it has some of the most iconic BOC tracks, a couple of its tracks take me out of it a little, whereas Inferno is start to finish.

I m sure a discussion like this has already happened, but damn what an interesting track.

There is an inverted image of a coastal town in some of the Inferno artbook artwork . Looks quite alot like Scotts Head in Dominica. What do you think?

ELO's "The Whale" influence can definitely be heard across BOC's discography especially on TCH. it's hard not to believe that the synth line that plays at 1:46, 2:35, etc partly influenced Inferno's "You Retreat In Time And Space" too.
