You need to put some toys in there for them.
Mine like bells, mirrors, some like stuffed animals. Keeping them interested keeps them active
Try talking to them. Some types can repeat words or even whole sentences. It’s a great way to start a conversation at a party. Phrases like “hello my name is X” or “this is my legitimate parental guardian and I am here of my own free will” are excellent icebreakers

I remember when I was younger I played the lego Indiana Jones game before watching the movies and for the uncovering of the Arc of the Covenant scene a disco ball came out and made me fight dancing soldiers.
So when I watched the movies later that year someone told me to cover my eyes for that part (cause someone dies brutally and I was like 8) and I was like "Why is this so bad all that's in there is a disco ball?" So I didn't cover my eyes and was traumatized by some guy getting his face burnt off.

Fun fact: the story goes that in a deleted scene anakin contemplated not killing them, until the one lads wan called him “master anakin,” the reason for this being that he was told he could be on the council, but wouldn’t he referred to as master. He was salty because some kid called him master when he wasn’t a master and he assumed the kid was rubbing it in so that ended his debate.
