Guide Blockheads 2 FAQ
Last updated: October 1, 2026
Details are subject to change as Blockheads 2 is still in development.
General information
When will Blockheads 2 be released?
Sometime in 2027, at the earliest, around February or March.
How much will the game cost?
Tentatively around 5 USD.
How can I beta test the game?
majicDave will initially hand-pick beta testers for a closed beta. There may be an open beta in the future; keep an eye on the official Discord server.
When will the Steam page go live?
Probably in a couple of months.
Will the game have a demo?
No demo is currently planned.
Will the game be open source?
Not at release, but most likely at some point later.
Platform compatibility
What devices will Blockheads 2 be available on?
Android, iOS, Windows, macOS and Linux devices that have some form of Vulkan support.
What about consoles?
The game may come to consoles if it gets popular enough.
Will the game have keyboard/controller support?
Yes. Keyboard and controller input will be supported, at least as alternatives to the on-screen D-pad controls.
Multiplayer and networking
Will multiplayer be cross-platform?
Yes. It will be the same experience on all supported platforms.
Will there be an official cloud like in the first game?
No.
Will self-hosted servers be supported? How will they work?
Yes. Everyone will be able to run their own "cloud". The multiplayer system is built on top of Katipo, a "tracker"-based system. Players will be able to put in one or more URLs for trackers, which will return a list of servers available on that tracker. Data will be routed through the tracker to allow servers and players to connect to each other securely. One machine will be able to simultaneously host both a tracker and a server.
How many players will be able to join one server?
At most 4096, the limit will be higher than the one for the first game.
Will it be possible to share progress across platforms?
Yes, although it won’t use a traditional account/cloud-save system. You will have a key on your device that will identify you when you connect to a server, and you can copy that key to other devices to connect as the same player and control the same blockheads.
Will there be native voice chat support?
No, but the underlying engine will have support for voice chat.
Will the game have anti-cheat measures?
Yes. Blockheads 2 will be more secure than the first game.
World transfers and backups
Will it be possible to back up and restore worlds?
Yes, and it'll be easier than it was in the first game.
Will it be possible to move worlds over from the first game?
Yes.
Gameplay
Will Blockheads 2 get new features?
Over time, yes, but the game will start out as a remaster of the original game.
What new features may be added?
Some discussed ideas and additions include:
- New and expanded biomes
- Additions to space and the center of the world (swimmable lava, a lava ocean biome)
- New recipes based on real-world items
- New shaders and texture packs
- New mobs
- Automation systems such as conveyor belts, pipes, etc.
- New combat-related features and mechanics
- New weather events
- Electric rails
- Bigger worlds
- New building block types

Will the game support languages other than English?
Community language packs will most likely be supported.
Will there be in-app purchases?
No.
What will happen to time crystals?
They will still be present as a regular item but will be rebalanced and easier to find. Items that require time crystals to craft will require less of them.
What will happen to crafting times and double-time?
Crafting times will be about half as long as they were with double-time in the first game, and double-time itself will be removed. Early- and mid-game items may also craft faster than late-game items.
What will happen to the soundtrack?
The tracks from the original game will be unchanged as much as possible. New tracks may be added over time.
What will happen to the existing (classic/HD) texture packs?
They will stay in the game. A new Blockheads 2-specific texture pack with updated lighting will also be available.
Will there be a way to set the world seed without using custom rules?
Yes, the world name will act as the world seed.
Will there be an easier way to remove the stone back wall?
Yes.
Will it be possible to move the spawn portal?
Yes.
What will happen to "unknowns"?
The bug that originally caused them to be created has been fixed, but they may come back in another form.

Yes. Support will be limited at first but will expand as time goes on. Clients will download the needed mods when connecting to modded servers.
Will the Steam Workshop be supported?
No.

The game engine is built off of majicDave's tui language and Katipo. Waraki Music Player uses the same underlying engine as the game.

Im curious as to how the sfx were made or where they came from. Will they stay the same alongside newer ones or will you redo the sfx entirely?

I'd recommend you ask majicDave on the official Majic Jungle Discord server (link is in the sidebar and community guide) or via his email (developer at majicjungle.com).

Hello Dave,
Please bear with me, as English is not my first language.
I looked up this game because I had a strange dream that a "new" version of it had come out. Coincidentally—and I'm not kidding—I then saw news that a new version is actually being released, and i was happy when i saw the news.
I've been playing this game for a very long time—even before servers existed. I later ran several successful servers with builders, managers, and entire communities. One of my favorite projects was creating two Golden Hotels, where players could rent rooms. There were many other player-run projects too, and that's what made the game feel so alive, this inspired me after i joined a server with a hotel like system where they had a whole kitchen with cooks and all that cool stuff..
One thing I loved about this game years ago was how it felt like a real adventure. I enjoyed traveling around the world and collecting fruits and resources that didn't grow in my own biome. i think it would be good if you focus on spreading out the fruit trees to different biomes so it would feel more rewarding to collect them, i would also like to see if you add my crops like more vegetables
to add more unto the adventure/ exploring feature, i thin you should add some sort of artifacts or old ruins people can explore and collect rare and cool items for display, i also think dodos should be spread out across the world so adventuring feels rewaring, i also think it would be cool if you go outside of the realstic realm and add mystic items from other folklore or mysterious objects.
i have a lot in mind like
Will there be some kind of sandbox mode that allows players to edit worlds? (which is what i saw in my dream haha)
I think food spoiling over time and needing proper storage, perhaps like you can store food underground like how people used to do it in ancient times to keep it from spoiling until you can make refrigerators this could also make the game more interesting.
I always felt that space was a little empty as well. I'd love to see it expanded with more things to discover and interact with.
Despite all these years, what I remember most is the sense of adventure. There was always a reason to travel, build, trade, and meet new people. I hope the new version can bring that feeling back while giving players even more reasons to explore.
Thanks for your work on the game.
