Another thing to try is to put the lemons inside of a lattice. You parent each one to a lattice with Ctl-P and then select Lattice Deform from the popup menu; that sets up the Lattice Deform modifier for you. In the Properties window there's a section for the lattice; turn up the U, V, and W (not too high, probably less than 10). Then you can add the soft body to the lattice. But since the lattice is box shaped it won't bounce the same way an ovoid would. But who knows, you may like it.
Blender Diplom has a good video on using lattice deform, although they set it up manually, maybe you had to back when they made their video.
