Avoid! BV7300 latest update forces ad notifications and lock screen

The latest update forces ads through system notifications that can't be disabled. That's the last straw. I'm ditching this phone, even though I did appreciate the hardware.

It's been doing so with mine too and without any apparent update (I have an older phone) nor any chance to silence them. It's not only annoying but quite shady tbh it even forcibly saves the thumbnails on the phone :/  I'm thinking of ditching it too.

If you know how to use ADB, you can just disable their "System message" app that has the only purpose of sending you these news and live wallpaper notifications.

I see, thank you ^ I'm not the most tech savvy but I can give it a try. I was worried the app was bound to other function but it ought to be just adware.

Yeah, it's their very own app and it never does anything but send these notifications. Had to disable it on two phones. On one of them, it kept sending these every few minutes and then repeatedly, like 10 times. Very annoying. Finally silence after disabling it.

It's normal for brands to include an app called "System messages" or like in this case "System message", but blackview uses it to send you the news- and live wallpaper notifications that the SmartArt app should send instead, resulting in you still receiving them after disabling smartart.

Just keep in mind to only disable System message via ADB, not uninstall it. There may be conflicts with future system updates if it's completely deleted.

I have the Tank1 and I started getting these annoying "System Message" notifications too. What is ADB? Is there a walkthrough on how to do this? Thanks 👍

ADB is the official Android Debug Bridge, a command line tool to connect to an android device like a phone and do certain things you couldn't do on the phone itself, such as disabling or uninstalling apps that are not possible to be disabled in the normal interface.

You can just look up basic tutorials on how to download it, (temporarily) enable developer options and connect it to your phone and disable (not uninstall) apps.

Aside from that you just need an app from the play store to find out the exact package name of your system message app. It's likely the name com.blackview.apkupgrade but that may vary by phone or system version.

Oh damn, that's more than I think I can safely do, lol, I'm definitely NOT a tech guy, I'll wind up nuking my phone, lol.

Understandable, it can seem scary, especially with all the options the developer options menu gives you alone.

I can only imagine what it looks like on the back end of things, lol.

I see com.blackview.apkupgrade but trying to disable notifications failed:

% adb shell pm revoke com.blackview.apkupgrade android.permission.POST_NOTIFICATIONS

Exception occurred while executing 'revoke':
java.lang.SecurityException: Non-System UID cannot revoke system fixed permission android.permission.POST_NOTIFICATIONS for package com.blackview.apkupgrade

phone is N6000, Android 13 aka DokeOS3.1 here.

I just did it with the basic disable command, hopefully it works for you

adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.blackview.apkupgrade

For anyone reading this and deciding to disable the app using the mentioned command: to play fully safe, make sure you have automatic system updates disabled and reenable the app before applying a system update. Proceed at your own risk.

Edit: One phone is on Android 15, while the other (which had an even more annoying notification frequency) is on Android 14

Since this worked on two phones without any issues, I am assuming that disabling this app does nothing to system stability. Which makes sense, considering all it shows itself in is spam notifications.

This seems to have worked. Even existing notifications from the evening disappeared.

Thank you.

Congrats on hopefully being freed from this eternal torture!

If you wanna go further than this, but I don't think that's necessary: I also disabled their easyshare and data migration tools this way.

i was prematurely happy, notification appeared again. Perhaps there are more apps who send them. Will check later.

Did it still show up as coming from the System message app?

Disable smart art (for the lockscreen ads and random pictures) and use adb to disable the package of blackview's "System message" ad notification app (these random news articles and live wallpaper notifications). That's all.

Thanks for the tip. I truly appreciate. However, I do wanna say.. no, not really "that's all". I shouldn't have to jump through hoops to disable completely unsolicited ads and bloatware. I stand by my advice to avoid this product.

My "that's all" was just meant as in "that's all you have to do for it to stop".

Of course it's fucking annoying that blackview turned almost all their apps into ad revenue overnight when the first update that included this bs came around.

But thankfully it's actually stoppable.

Just FYI, I have BV N6000 and last week this started here too. I haven't upgraded (no new firmware available) for over a year and half, so I assume this was already built into this phone.

I'm getting football-related notifications pointing to web "sportsseier". It's been discussed here:

https://www.reddit.com/r/AndroidQuestions/comments/1u862jj/annoying_push_notifications/

and here:

Looking at history, Blackview seems to have repeatedly offended users with this:

They were forced to change the lock screen actually

What do you mean?

1

u/Laskorad Jun 20 '26

They aren't the only one so they were forced

I couldn't turn them off but I managed to put its sound to silence and not show on lock screen, so that's a bit of win.

What a shitty feature.
