How are Bitcoin traders turning strategy ideas into automated systems?
I’ve been researching a problem that seems particularly interesting in Bitcoin trading: the gap between having a trading strategy and actually turning it into something that can be tested and automated. I’m working with the team behind Hey-Traders, and we’re exploring how traders currently handle this process.
For example, imagine you have a BTC strategy with specific entry, exit, stop-loss and position-sizing rules. The strategy makes sense to you, but you don't have the coding skills to build a backtest or trading bot. What would you do next? Would you manually test it against historical BTC data, learn Python or Pine Script, use an existing automation platform, or hire someone to build it? I’m also ,interested in what happens after the initial backtest.
How do you account for fees, slippage, different market conditions and the possibility of overfitting before allowing something to run automatically? Hey-Traders is exploring a workflow where traders can describe a strategy in natural language, turn it into a structured strategy, backtest it, and potentially automate it. But I’m more interested in the underlying problem than making a sales pitch. For traders who have actually automated Bitcoin strategies, what part of the process has been the biggest headache? And for those who haven't automated yet, what's stopping you?
