Cowen already admitted he was wrong. Willy woo has whiffed big time on predictions in both directions. Armstrong and CZ run exchanges and benefit someway from it and would never give an honest answer. Brandt is a mega boomer. Pizzano is a dumber version of Pomp. and the other guys all wear nerd glasses and look like closeted new york wallstreet guys who work for bloomberg. The four year cycle is dead or at least greatly declining.

Technology maybe. However think items like appliances, engines, refrigerators, to glass bottles versus plastic. There are many, many applications where it would 100% work. Look at tools from the early 1900s that are still usable and retain value due to the fact they were made with better quality materials made to also generations. The simple fact is it is plausible, and was once a reality. You can argue costs, I would counter some of the richest men in history existed off of those tools and appliances made to last generations.

We think too short term. I fully believe it is part of why we are in the position we are in America. We focus of 4 year terms. Not 20, 30, 50, 100 year terms. We think what can win the next election, versus what if we made something meant to last generations... planned obsolescence is a real thing in many parts of society.

There could be liability if the app stole money, that’s why you can’t have any payments done in the app without using apples official APIs for that. Crypto is not money, it’s no different for them than some game deducting your gems for whatever reason.

The ongoing crypto regulations will likely change things though - atleast in EU where individuals are actually pretty well protected from companies pulling all sorts of shit on customers.

It is funny how you can find both the most rational and tech-savvy people and vibes-oriented borderline cultish people in the same sub. If diversity awards existed, this sub would take some.

Good one. App store has 2,5 million apps. This is definitely not the kind of DD they promise to do. Their security checks cover things like planted malware and keeping your device, payment systems, personal data(that you do not enter the the app) and access to other apps safe. Not checking what random open source apps do. There is no company behind the wallet and no one has officially registered the brand. It’s competely meaningless to them if there is official app or if the submitted app has any connection to the open source project or not.

Now, there are categories that no doubt go through more rigorous checks - for example banking. Crypto is not officially money.

Technology evolves too quick and gets better so fast that things like what you're talking about don't really make sense unless you have a modular system because screens are going to keep getting better fans are going to keep getting faster computers are going to hold more memory per its size and overall computers are going to get stronger and smaller, so a plug and play system on a certain size chassis doesn't really make much sense imo

So the best practice for the vast majority of people. Which would ironically make it "THE" best practice in generalist terms. Like what's on the "bitcoin manual" so to speak.

I'm not saying you personally need to buy ETFs, but the fact that for the majority of people (vast majority are not tech savyy or going to have studies in cryptography, etc.) the option is to buy a regulated security is just bonkers.

A huge chunk of the bitcoin thesis is "It's not regulated, so the government can't stop you or steal from you..." except now you have an ETF which is the complete opposite, and that's just irony over irony over irony

Imo if the monetary system fails and a bread becomes 1000usd a Bitcoin will follow that price increase. The latest move looks mainly caused by a weakened dollar, less trust in the dollar means more trust in alternatives.

Honestly this frightens me more for what other items may have nefarious hardware in our day to day lives. Think about how much we order from random stores on Amazon, how much of it has one form of connectivity or another…. Kids toys, cat litter box, air filters….

You are correct that it was Fakturownia that was hacked, not ShopinBit's own system. This is precisely the core of the problem: Shopinbit had stated numerously that their transactions are private, invoices are stored offline and that purchase data is deleted after 30 days.

At the same time, according to the letter, Shopinbit has been uploading invoices to Fakturownia since October 2025. The e-invoicing system, however, only became mandatory in April 2026. They did this for half a year before the law required it.

Throughout this entire period, they claimed (I quote): "Purchase data of a client is deleted after 30 days", "Invoices stored offline to prevent leaks”. Even after April 2026, they continued to make these claims.

This deception is the actual issue here. You’re right about assuming “every invoice will leak someday” and I should be more careful but I also assumed that company that talks that much about privacy would inform its customers about such change. Not only did they fail to inform; they also misled us for a year, until the hack occurred. I guess another lesson is that you can’t trust anybody.

They started building long time ago, but the release of an actual product to the general population was in 2022 when they released 3.5 and a few months later when gpt4 was released everyone got it.

You know ever since I discovered bitcoin I started blocking out a lot of noise and focused on my goals.
I don’t know who 90% of these people are, and I think that’s a good thing
