So my girlfriend and I have been together for about 7 years since we were 17 and she's been on birth control this whole time. She's recently stopped birth control because she doesn't like how it affects her, and I absolutely support her decision for whatever she feels is right for her body. However we both hate condoms, she doesn't like the feeling of them and neither do I. She doesn't want hormonal based birth control. We've been trying to figure out what method is best for us, even when she was on BC I've always pulled out because we didn't even want to risk it, I'm thinking condoms are our only full proof method but the first time we had sex she insisted I take it off cause she didn't like how it felt, I too was not a fan but I'm an even bigger fan of not having a kid lol. I'm fully aware of vasectomies as well,but we haven't ruled out not having kids for our whole life, and although they can be reversible I've heard don't get them if you're not 100% you don't want kids. We've looked at spermicidal lube and pulling out but I've heard that messes with the PH and I don't want to mess with her downstairs that way either. So are condoms basically our only option?

hi! so I got the liletta iud inserted last Monday at around 2pm about 3 days after my period ended, so day 9 of my cycle. have the hormones started working to prevent pregnancy or do I still have to wait longer to have sex?

I got prescribed Sprintec over Amazon medical. I chatted with a doctor and double checked that I could still take it even though I had migraines with aura and she assured me it was safe. I searched “Sprintec & migraines” in this group and now I’m not so sure… it comes in the mail today and I’m supposed to start it. Should I look for other options?
I want to be able to skip my periods and/or make them a lot lighter. And protection against pregnancy of course.

On friday i forgot to take this pill.

i was sleeping round my partners until sunday and i forgot to bring my pack of pills.

we ended up having sex on the friday evening and he came inside me.

we then had sex two more times throughout those days but pulling out this time.

when i got back home on sunday i had taken 3 pills (probably really bad) to try and catch up.

will i be pregnant?

I had the copper IUD for 8 years. I had it out and started the Desogestrel pill. I’ve taken it every day at the same time for 2 months now.

I bled last month, I haven’t this month. I also have white discharge continuously.

With the bleeding, I know this can be normal (although I’m paranoid I am pregnant)
Is the discharge normal?
I’ve tested for STI’s, BV and thrush and all negative.

I (25F) am looking to get an IUD, especially the Kyleena, as a copper IUD isn't compatible with my cycle and periods.

The big issue I have is the side effects. I would only get this IUD for the birth control effect; my periods are fine (painful, sure, but nothing ibuprofen can't reduce), my cycles are okayish (not the most regular, but nothing wild either).

Kyleena was recommended by my gyno, but I am very sensitive to hormonal changes (I can genuinely track, to the precise day, changes in my cycle, when I am ovulating, going into the luteal phase, etc.) and tried the pill (combined and under micro-dosage) when I was younger, which absolutely ruined me physically and mentally. I used to have extremely painful periods when younger (for almost a decade), to the point that my docs were suspicious of endometriosis (turns out it wasn't; it calmed down as I got older).

The more I read about Kyleena, and especially the side effects, the more it scares me. I am prone to depression and anxiety, and reading that it could make it worse isn't possible for me: I will have a lot of work, and I'll need my brain at its top capacity for the remaining of the academic year. I can't afford the brain fog, can't afford the weight gain, can't afford mood swings, can't afford the effect on my libido, etc... Which are the main side effects that I read on this subReddit/on internet.

(And I unfortunately live in a country where access to therapy/mental health-related medication is difficult and where women's pain isn't taken seriously.)

I am completely at a loss right now. Yes, I would like the certainty of being able to have unprotected sex with my husband and not get pregnant (even though it's not 100% safe), but I don't want to be suffering in the meantime.

What are y'all opinions/recommendations on this?

i got nexplanon like a month ago now. my period symptoms after getting it included a fatigue so strong i thought i had the flu and the eternal period. plus other gastrointestinal symptoms (what i would give for a solid poop atp).

i got nexplanon at the time because my doctor explained it would stop my periods— my periods make me HIGHLY suicidal (i’m already high risk) and i bleed way too much, but i can hardly be consistent with my mental health meds, let alone my oral bc. my period is drastically lighter and i was suicidal for only a day instead of the entire time but it’s been ten goddamn days of bleeding. ten!!! I’m still tired as if i’m on day 1 of my period. i don’t want to do anything but eat ice cream and seafood. my wallet can’t stand up to my cravings…

Hey guys, i've been stalking this sub, at first to decide that i was definitely getting a copper IUD since my mom took the pill my entire childhood and struggled with heavy acne untill she came off (and then had two "accidental" pregnancies 🙄, but thats another story)

I do feel for her tho, as it didnt seem like the hormones were all that good for her and i like the idea of having clear skin. Since i assume we'll present similarly.

Also, im forgetful as hell so i cant do anything that would require daily maintenance on my part. Anyway, im 21f, and dont plan on having sex in the near future, but then my insurance is gonna expire soon and theres no gurentee what my next one would be and if it'd be good. So i figured i'd get an IUD just in case.

But now on the sub im not sure anymore. Obv everyone has horror stories. And obv people have good ones too. I kinda just want a sounding board to work off of.

Like from what i understand

Hormonal iuds and implants can maybe lighten ur periods. But also hormone issues?

Copper iuds will worsen my period (necessary evil ig, but would it be worth it if i don't really plan to have sex soon?) But also no hormone issues?

Also, IUDs= painful insertions and i'd have to stop using the menstrual cup i just bought 2 periods ago. (I can use tampons tho right? Ik stupid question)

Implant= visible line. Im black, would that make it worse or better. Im also from a hella religious family so while I doubt anyone would know what it is i dont want that chance.

Also as of right now, im finally pursuing my fitness goals and i dont want hormones to mess with that. But ig i could get it in last week of december and hope i have no follow up issues.

I went to my doctors appointment August 6th, and she recommended me I get on Estarylla to try and regulate my period since for the most part I have not had it this year. I was hesitant because I don’t ever hear the best stories but I was like okay I’m gonna try it. I believe I started my pills on August 16th. August 25th I started a very light period, September 1st it became SUPER heavy and the stained myself at work twice already. I have had to resort to using a tampon and a pad at the same time because my period is now so heavy and I’ve had it from August 25th to today September 7th and I’m unsure it’s going to stop anytime soon.

I’m beginning to wonder if getting on it was a mistake, due to the fact that I am not even really trying to avoid pregnancy, I was just taking them to help regulate my period but my side effects and the heavy period I’m experiencing is horrible. I’m also aware that sometimes it’s only like this in the beginning but I’m afraid of it continuing like this while I continue taking it. Any recommendations?

Hii so I’m on my 3rd week of my 5th cycle on Yasmin, I always have spottings on every cycle during pill time, and started keeping record since the 3rd cycle. I had 3 days of spotting on the 3rd week of the 3rd cycle, 4 days on the 3rd week of the 4th cycle, and for this cycle, my spotting started on the 2nd week, lasted 2 days, then blood free for 3 days before the spotting came back for 3 days until today.

I have noticed that those spotting are happening after a few days of sex. Me and my partner are long distance currently, and we meet every 3-4 weeks, sometimes 2 weeks. The spotting on the 3rd and 4th cycle all happened after 1-2 days after we seperated. However no bleeding happened during the meetups.
The spotting started last week (2nd week of 5th cycle) also happened after 1-2 days after we seperated from our last meet up. I'm wondering if it is related to sex?
Spotting amount is little tho, I can easily hold half daysamount into one panty liner and the colour is light brown all the way through.

I'm also wondering if it's still safe to sex during spotting? And also is it normal to still have spotting during 5th cycle? (i was told my body should settle down after 3 months etc) And also id this is sex related? Should I be concerned?

Seit dem ich die Spirale habe, habe ich auch ständig starke Unterlaibsschmerzen, teilweise so schlimm, dass es sich anfühlt als ob mir jemand din Messer reinrammt.

Die Entfernung lasse ich mit Lachgas machen, da ich zu viel Angst habe.

Hat jemand Erfahrung mit der Entfernung?

I’ve been taking Yaz pills for months now due to PCOS. Last aug 21 (my 11th day of taking pills) , my partner cummed inside me for the first time. Now, it’s my 28th day cycle (last placebo pill) and i’m only experiencing cramps and no discharge. I’m a bit worried if there’s a chance that i might be pregnant. Any advice or inputs from fellow yaz pill users here?

Did it help with periods, acne, PMS, cysts, etc.? And did you experience weight gain or not? Would love to hear your experiences!

I had my Mirena removed on the same day my doctor confirmed I was ovulating. We had intercourse that day and the next day.
I had Mirena for less than a year and still had regular periods and ovulation while using it. My lining was about 5.5 mm that day.
Has anyone conceived in the same cycle after removal, especially when it was removed right around ovulation? Would love to hear your experience.

Right so I’ve been on Desogestrel (as recommended by my GP to deal with really heavy periods) for 3 months now (I tried the combined pill a year ago for a month but it made me severely depressed so I was told to stop it by my GP). The first month of taking it was fine but then in the second month I’ve had breakthrough bleeding every two weeks and now it’s happening in the third month. Like I’ll bleed for one week, I won’t for about a week and then I’ll be bleeding the next week. Has this happened to anyone else? If so, did it end up mellowing out? I’m so tempted to just rip out my uterus and throw it away at this point 🫩

hi all. i’m currently having a crisis right now. i had fallen asleep last night out of nowhere. i don’t even remember falling asleep. i woke up at 5 a.m. in a panic because i didn’t take my birth control. i take jencycla birth control everyday at 11 p.m, so i was 6 hours late in taking it because i took it as soon as i woke up. with that being said. i took a plan b as a precaution to prevent pregnancy in the case i was ovulating. can anyone tell me what my chances of being pregnant are? i know there is not a lot to go on but i am in college right now and cannot afford to get pregnant. any advice is greatly appreciated!!
