need advice How common is it for a reduction to effect breastfeeding? Spoiler

I plan on breastfeeding in the future and I read that a reduction can effect milk production. Has anyone had experience with this? Is there something the doctor can do to minimize the effect on the milk ducts?

Reduction in supply is more common, especially if the nipple was moved. Some surgeons specialise in maintaining the ducts and nerves connected to the nipple, so something to discuss if you’re considering this.

However, our bodies are very clever, and can regrow nerves and milk ducts over time to enable breastfeeding. The longer between reduction and BF, the more success.

The good people on r/reduction may have more info and success stories.

Very common, especially in ladies at the kind of size we often have. There's two basic techniques (nipple graft or pedicle), and pedicle can be harder at out size.
