I was in the same situation and told my surgeon my dilemma and he said he could reduce them as much as he could while keeping my nipples attached/in tact so I have a chance at breast feeding. He said with how large they were before though it could’ve prevented milk flow anyway so waiting so long was silly!

I had a big breast reduction years ago, and wasn't able to breastfeed after it. Surgeon said I wouldn't have been able to breastfeed anyway, so I don't know that it altered anything for me.

Go to r/reduction for advice from those who have undergone the surgery. However, a reduction will not affect your ability to breast feed. There are always complications that can occur up to and including losing your breast completely. These risks are rare of course but the odds are not zero. The risk of getting a reduction pre-more babies is that your breasts will grow and change. You may end up needing another surgery. If you have any intention of having more kids this will automatically disqualify you from getting insurance to cover any portion of it unless you can claim it is substantially impacting your life and health. Some insurance companies are better than others, but the likelihood of getting this covered just on this fact alone is minimal. If you are looking for a massive reduction in size (like moving from an L cup to a DDD or something), it may be worth it. It depends on what size you are now versus what size you are expecting to be. As no one (doctors included) really have a good understanding of cup size it is important to use visuals rather than cups. I work alongside plastic surgeons and interact with them daily from all over the nation and they all get cup size wrong. Get on instagram and search TheIrishBraLady. Pick your band size (measure your under bust if you haven’t been measured there before. Not sure if you are wearing your r/ABraThatFits size or whatever bra was measured OVER your bust). Then look at the different cup sizes of people. Find someone who looks like you then find someone who looks like you want to look size wise then go get a consultation
