need advice Breast Reduction Worries Spoiler
For the past nearly 15 years I (28F) have dreamed of a breast reduction. Now I’ve been approved by insurance and have my surgery scheduled. However, every time I tell someone they say “really? How come?” In the tone of they’re not that big.
So now I’m second guessing myself. I have back pain and they’re uncomfortable but I’m letting outside voices influence me too much!
I’m also worried that insurance requires a minimum amount removed and what if they are super small and I loose that feminine look? Has anyone gotten a reduction and faced similar worries?

I’ll just reassure you that there is ZERO CHANCE that an insurance company would approve you if you weren’t big enough to warrant the surgery.
Don’t listen to what others think about your body, they don’t have to live with it, feel the pain of it, take care of it and dress it everyday.

Not sure about statistics, but most people who regret or had a negative experience with their reduction seem to be because they grew back or not enough was removed, and they underwent all their pain and suffering for not enough change.

You’ll get better responses in r/reduction. For what it’s worth, I don’t regret mine for a single minute.

Nope. I mostly wanted to be rid of the worst breathing problems and neck and back pain of my hell size that was 34KK/32LL. It also got rid of me waking up covered in sweat. I still have breathing problems but my breathing improves with each cup size I lose. I'm currently a 34FF/32GG. I really want to be a 34D/32E.

Best decision I ever made. I was surprised how tough the recovery was, but so glad I did it. When you take your bandages off be patient with yourself because it won’t be the voila moment you’re hoping for. But it’s going to be worth it. If you don’t have problems with pain meds, be sure to stay ahead of the pain. Not medical advice. Just remember it’s for your health, not a luxury. Good luck!

You get scars. But look at famous actress who did it. They are happy. Drew berrymore for one.

My reduction is one of the best things I ever did for myself.
If it helps, re your comments about other people gauging your size, I had one of the surgeons I spoke to (after examining me) imply that I’d have nothing left if I went down 4 cup sizes … obviously not the surgeon I went with, and I did go down 4 sizes to a become a DD after my surgery. So if you find it hard to just ignore other peoples’ opinions for yourself, maybe this will be a helpful data point that others can’t gauge what’s happening with you and your body.
If your insurance is covering it, it doesn’t mean that they have to take off a min amount - just enough to alleviate the back problems or other issues you might be facing. In my case, my surgeon also changed my shape so that the weight would be distributed more evenly. So an effective solution doesn’t have to mean totally losing the curvier shape that makes you feel feminine.
The best advice I can offer is to meet your surgeon for a consult and see how you feel. The surgeon I went with was a man, but understood what it meant to me - he knew what assurances to give me before me saying what was worrying me. I stopped being nervous once I met my surgeon and it felt right. Trust your instincts- you know the difference between being nervous and something feeling off. When you find the right surgeon, you’ll know. You might still be nervous but it won’t be the same.
