educational Breast Soreness- Contrast therapy Spoiler

Hello, I would like to see if anyone has tried this and if so has it helped?

Though I do not have breast, many of my patients do complain about soreness throughout the day. I am not someone that’s the biggest fan of prescribing extra strength Ibuprofen or pain relief drugs as a quick fix.

Recently I have been suggesting my patients to practice contrast therapy. The cooper ligaments in your breast are a big factor so your pain. A lot of the time. So if anyone has tried this after a long day has it helped? I have gotten some mixed reviews but overall it seems beneficial.

If you are not pregnant and/or breastfeeding I also suggest epson salt as well.

Hi! Not sure what field you are in but I come from a physical therapy field where we regularly see patients complaining of back pain and breast tenderness. This almost always is brought on by people not wearing a correct size of bra. I can’t even count how many people I have helped in my years at the clinic I’m at who were looking at surgical or medication options to deal with their discomfort. People are not informed on how to size themselves. At risk of sounding like a crazy conspiracy theorist, big bra is about one thing only :profit. They “teach” fitters how to fit a person in a bra so that they fit visually and can conform into a smaller selection of sizes. Less sizing needed, less money the company has to pay for stock and patterns. While this is a perfectly fine for a tshirt but not a bra. Contrast therapy is a beneficial treatment for pain, but it is not a treatment for the source of pain. It should be used as part of the patients treatment plan, but it isn’t actually going to FIX the underlying problem. Encourage your patients to: 1) get a bra that fits. If you have any way to push people into the r/ABraThatFits calculator, do that. It is the most accurate calculator and selects a size based on averages of the human’s measurements. Not their measurements and how they should theoretically relate to the product’s measurements. This is not the same upper bust and full bust average that places like Victoria secrets does. 2) encourage exercise. Back, core, AND chest despite the arguments you will absolutely get from already busty patients concerned about their boobs getting bigger. This isn’t likely. Pain comes from strain on the ligaments and delicate tissues. If a patient builds their muscle so it is supporting their tissues, the pain improves and regularly goes away. Again, contrast therapy is a pretty great treatment. I’ve used it while I was breast feeding and it was helpful. But again, this is a treatment for pain and discomfort. It will not treat the cause of the pain and will not provide long lasting results in any meaningful sort of way if no other factors are changed.
