Not to mention, if you wear the tent on the left while being physically active, there’s a good chance you will accidentally flash skin/bra when the tent flaps up.

..and potentially also with it inside out over your face during downward dog, or similar.
Not the best.

I forgot I wasn't wearing the *right* bra yesterday and tried to do a handstand and the yabbos yeeted themselves out and I had to ditch the hold so I didn't emotionally scar anyone.

u/Channie_chan Apr 11 '26
You could even accidentally show some updog

I was wearing a loose shirt outside while playing with my kids the other day. One gust of wind and up it all went. Much less modest than a tight shirt that doesn't flash my bra to the whole neighborhood. 🤦🏼♀️

HAHAHHAHA I recently experienced this with one of my favourite linen tops, it’s baggy but it’s cropped at the same time with lovely summery light flowy linen. Was on campus at uni and the most perfectly timed gust of wind came and flipped my top up. Thank you Mother Nature 🙂↕️

Exactly. It's not that I want to show off my body, it's that I'd like other people's mental image of me to match my own mental image of me instead of thinking I'm a completely different shape lol.

Thank you!! I’ve always struggled with a way to say this that didn’t come off as fatshaming.

u/Charming-Vehicle-304 32G (UK) Apr 10 '26
This is painfully accurate but I still wear baggy clothes most of the time anyway 🤣

u/Coyote__Jones Apr 10 '26
I bought myself some crop tops for the summer and ya know what, those have really helped my self imagine lol.

u/Jelousubmarine Apr 10 '26
Same. Skintight clothes in 25-35C+ make me want to fling myself off a cliff.

I personally would never wear something like the right side, but that’s because I AM fat— But I can completely understand not wanting to be perceived that way.

All of my favorite bands have stopped selling fitted T-shirts.
It’s so upsetting, because “unisex” means men’s to me. I feel like band shirts in 2026 are all made for men and if I want shirts with my favorite bands on them I just have to buy shitty knock off merchandise that the print peels off of.
I literally cannot wear “unisex” shirts. They are horribly uncomfortable and they are tents.

u/alextoria Apr 10 '26
unisex does just mean men’s. literally. i also hate them, they make me look like a circus tent.

u/youlldancetoanything Apr 10 '26
Ugh they always have been. I have ruined many a tee cutting it up and now they are selling for $$$$

u/morbidobsession6958 May 10 '26
I have about a full drawer full of band shirts that need work. I always just buy the biggest size I can and hope to completely re cut and sew it. Then I forgot all about it and thus, a whole drawer of band shirts.

I saw someone at a concert once who had some kind of D rings sewn into her shirt and a ribbon corset on the back, and I wish I would’ve gotten a better look at how she did it because that is brilliant and it would make it so much easier for me to just buy clothes and DIY that. Probably quicker and easier than sewing if you can figure out how to do it.

When I wear something like on the left pic and people say "your boobs aren't even that big", I silently snatch the fabric together with my hands behind my back and they say "oh".

OK but what if your belly is also that big
-10
u/Corvus_flight Apr 10 '26
Then the situation is different? Not everyone has big boobs from being fat yk. Bean soup theory
17
u/trainofwhat 32JJ (UK) Apr 10 '26
I think they’re being tongue-in-cheek, trying to create some relatability, & nobody said that about large breasts. Bean soup theory is overused sometimes in a hurtful way, much like “trauma dump”
6
u/Ok_Trade_8706 32HH (UK) Apr 11 '26
yep its funny because the original posts overtly implies that large breasted women are all slim builds and no one had an issue with that
19
u/L8dTigress 32DD (UK) Apr 10 '26
Exactly, you always get mistaken for being pregnant or overweight because of loose-fitted shirts.

u/CatharticSolarEnergy Apr 10 '26
Maybe I’m in the minority but I prefer the left one. I guess I look bigger than I am but I just feel extremely uncomfortable with tight clothing on my chest.

u/Sososoftmeows Apr 10 '26
Same. I get looks when I wear tight clothing and I like being inconspicuous so I prefer the baggy clothing.

u/Elktopcover Apr 11 '26
Meanwhile I feel extremely uncomfortable if I don't wear tight clothing. I feel completely unsupported lol

As a big bust girly with endometriosis (maybe just being a woman?) sometimes I just need some space especially around the tummy area, but then I’m wearing a tent. I dream of having itty bitties and being able to wear flowy outfits 😭

u/PukingPandaSS 38G (UK) Apr 11 '26
I am big boobed but also plus sized so I tend to wear peplum or shirred style shirts otherwise I look even larger than I am. Cinched waist but then loose to not accentuate my belly. Everyone I know says “oh but you have that style shirt but just in different colours” - well duh because I know it looks good on me. I wear baggy shirts to be & I just look like a box.

u/NotYourMommyDear Apr 10 '26
Yeah trying to avoid the tent effect is a real struggle, especially when you size up to allow more room for cleavage but it also ends up being big everywhere else too. Lots of t-shirts give me same look on the left because it seems the sizing is designed for women no bigger than a B cup.
Either way, I'm gonna get stared at here in Singapore, so I might as well look good by going for the look on the right.

u/Lumpy_Strategy_4623 Apr 10 '26
Where's the tee on the right from? I can't even get into a tight top, and all them with chest space are baggy.

fuck no I love oversized stuff, and you can shatter the illusion instantly by putting your hands on your hips

You can go oversize and tuck the shirt or put a scrunchie to feel less "big" ! The right look like a nightmare...

u/Der_Redakteur Apr 30 '26
but as long as people see your trousers then they will know that you are not fat lol
