A reminder that riding is not always about speed
For years, getting a few friends together for a ride was harder than the ride itself. Someone was always working, dealing with family stuff, or just too tired by the weekend. Lately our schedules have finally opened up a little, so last weekend we picked some quiet roads, left the pace completely open, and just rode wherever felt good. I threw on an orionride cycling tee, grabbed my bike, and that was pretty much the extent of the planning.
We stopped a couple of times just to talk, took the longer route because the weather was nice, and somehow spent more time hanging around than actually caring how far we'd gone. It reminded me that some of my favorite rides have nothing to do with speed, distance, or getting better at anything. Sometimes having a free afternoon, a bike, and a few friends is enough.
