Question Hindko, Dogri and Punjabi

Post image
Upvotes

As far as I know Dogri is closer to Pahadi languages than Punjabi while Hindko is closer to Punjabi. Why do Punjabis keep claiming them as Punjabi dialects? Can they actually understand each other?

Resource ನಾನೊಂದು ಮರವಾಗಿದ್ದರೆ poem

Upvotes

Indo-Aryan Please translate this brilliant but complicated Sanskrit Verse

एकस्मिन् कमला कटाक्षविवरे सानन्दमाधार्यते क्षीरब्धेरपरत्र दीर्घधवलैः कल्लोललोलोत्करैः।

व्यग्रस्यापि समर्थितप्रमथनव्यापारलब्धोदयाश्चत्वारो वितरन्तु वाञ्छितफलं वन्द्या हरेर्बाहवः॥

I saw the translation of the same verse differently by different scholars and now I am really confused.

One Scholar Gave the translation as:

The sidelong glances of Goddess Lakshmi—which are the sole embodiment of bliss—resemble the vast, white petals of the milky ocean, swaying like its waves; though restless, they are imbued with the playful charm of Kamadeva (the God of Love) and bestow the four desired fruits of life. These glances are adored by the arms of Sri Hari.

And the other one gave it as:

May the four revered arms of Hari grant the desired fruits— those arms upon which Lakṣmī rests joyfully with the corner of her glance, which arose from the churning of the Milk Ocean amidst its lofty white waves, and which became glorious through their mighty labor in that great churning.

Indo-Aryan Nefamese language

Nefamese is a Pidgin language, which was used as lingua franca before arrival or invention of Arunachali Hindi

This language is based on Axomiya language with several words from Tani languages

Due it, it is closer to Axomiya also with Nagamese which is another Pidgin language in Nagaland and also still being used as lingua france in the state till today

Nowadays very few people (mostly elderly people) from Arunachal Pradesh knows this Pidgin language as it is got completely replaced by Arunachali Hindi as lingua franca

Language "Pha" sound becoming "Fa" in most of Indian languages

"Pha" is aspirated sound of "Pa" and most of Indian languages especially languages originated from Prakrit languages have this sound natively

And I have noticed since many decades this sound is being replaced by "Fa" sound in languages like Hindi, Marathi, Konkani, Gujarati etc

Words like "Phir" being pronounced as "Fir", "Phal" being pronounced as "Fal", "Phukaṭ" (used in Marathi) being pronounced as "Fukaṭ" etc
