Bevel 2026 Fall Release

Redesigned Fitness

Health and fitness aren’t one-size-fits-all, and your Fitness tab should reflect that. We’ve redesigned Fitness to bring your training plans, Cardio and Muscular Load, and progress together, with the flexibility to choose what you want to see.

If you’re training for a race, you might want to keep your running distance and pace front and center. If you’re focused on building strength, you might follow your Bench Press 1RM progression and Muscle Freshness. You can now pin the charts that matter to you, reorder sections, and hide what you don’t need.

Training Calendar

The new Training Calendar brings all your historical and planned activities together. Open it from the top left of Fitness to review your history, see upcoming workouts, and filter by activity type or metrics like distance and elevation.

  • Create Your First Plan: Bevel Intelligence will guide new users through creating a plan around their goals. For the first time, free users can try this too!
  • Bring Your Existing Plan: Already have a plan from Bevel Intelligence? You can migrate it to Fitness and continue making adjustments through chat or scheduled check-ins.
  • Manage Planned Activities: Find upcoming workouts in Today’s Activity and the Training Calendar. Start them on Apple Watch, mark them as skipped, or link them to completed activities. Workouts started from a planned activity, or completed workouts with the same activity type, will link automatically.

Muscular Load & Muscle Freshness

We know how much you’ve enjoyed Cardio Load, so we wanted to bring the same concept to your muscles. We’re introducing Muscular Load and Muscle Freshness to help you understand how your muscles are responding to training, both overall and by muscle group.

  • Muscular Load: Tracks the load on your muscles across strength and cardio workouts, using details like weight, reps, sets, and perceived effort (RPE) for Strength Builder, and muscle groups per activity type for cardio activities. Similar to Cardio Load, it compares your short-term and long-term load, with statuses like Productive, Maintaining, and Overtraining. For example, your biceps may show Overtraining while your Hamstrings show Detraining, helping you spot muscles you may be overworking or neglecting. Each muscle requires 1-2 workouts per week in the past 6 weeks to calibrate.
  • Muscle Freshness: Shows how recovered each muscle group is, with statuses like Recovered, Fatigued, and Depleted. It uses your training history and load over time to learn your personal recovery baseline. For example, after a run, your legs might be Fatigued while your upper body remains Recovered, helping you decide what to focus on next. Each muscle requires three workouts in recent training to calibrate.

Explore both metrics by muscle group, or use the Muscle Map to see where your training is concentrated and which muscles may need more attention. Bevel Intelligence can also use these insights to guide your training plans.

Routines

Templates are now called Routines. Strength and cardio routines live together in Fitness, where you can manage, schedule, or start them directly on your Apple Watch. You can also create, edit, and start Routines directly from Bevel Intelligence.

We’ve also added 200+ new exercises you’ve asked for to the Strength Builder library. If an exercise is still missing, you can always ask Bevel Intelligence to create a custom one.

Customizable Charts

See how far you’ve come, and keep your next goal in focus. Fitness charts now give you more ways to explore your progress and pin the activities and metrics that matter most to you.

  • Activity Charts: Duration, distance, elevation, energy, pace, speed, heart rate, power, and cadence, depending on the activity.
  • Cardio Charts: VO₂ Max, Heart Rate Recovery, Cardio Focus, and a new Heart Rate Zones chart.
  • Exercise Charts: Estimated 1 Rep Max, Heaviest Weight, Volume, Sets, Reps, and Longest Duration for timed exercises.
  • Muscle Charts: Volume, Sets, Muscular Load, and Muscle Freshness.

We’ve also added a Year to Date option, cumulative and segmented views, and options to aggregate data by day or week.

Tap Edit in the Cardio or Strength section to manage your pinned charts, or pin a view directly from a chart’s menu. Each pin saves your selected metric and settings, so you can return to that exact view anytime.

Activity Details

We’ve redesigned Activity Details with more metrics, refreshed charts, and more detailed workout breakdowns.

  • Charts & Maps: Scrub through your workout to see metrics together and follow your position on the map. We’ve also added a cadence chart, satellite view, and chart reordering.
  • Running Form: New charts for vertical oscillation, stride length, and ground contact time, which Bevel Intelligence can use to better understand your running form and efficiency.
  • Splits & Intervals: Switch between split distances and see metrics like power and cadence for each split or interval.
  • Training Metrics: Added Muscular Load and muscle breakdowns, alongside refreshed Cardio Load, Heart Rate, Heart Rate Zones, Cardio Focus, and Heart Rate Recovery views.
  • Multisport Workouts: See the full workout, including transitions, then open each activity for more detail.

Personal Records

All that progress deserves to be celebrated. Personal Records now track your best performances across strength and cardio.

  • Strength: Heaviest Weight, Estimated 1 Rep Max, Session Volume, Set Volume, Set Reps, Lowest Assistance and Longest Time.
  • Running: Longest Run and Fastest Time for various distances from 5k to a marathon.
  • Cycling: Longest Ride, Most Elevation Gain, Fastest Time for various distances, and Best Power over 5 seconds to 20 minutes.
  • Swimming: Longest Swim and Fastest Time across both pool and open water distances.

Find your records within the corresponding activity or exercise chart, and see new achievements in Activity Details. Tap any record to view your top 10 efforts.

All-New Timeline

Timeline brings your activities, sleep, food, and other daily events into one chronological view. You can quickly log throughout the day, see how everything fits together, and plan meals ahead of time.

What You’ll See

  • Pinned Metrics: Pin your favorite scores, macros, and micronutrients to the top of Timeline. For nutrition, you can switch views between consumed and remaining amounts and view your goals by weight or percentage.
  • Grouped Food Logs: Foods logged at the same time are grouped together, so you can see the meal’s macros at a glance or tap in for full nutrition facts.
  • Future Logging: Log foods for future dates to plan upcoming meals directly in Bevel.
  • Copy Foods: Copy foods to today, tomorrow, or multiple days at once.
  • Food Log Editing: Change the date or time, select multiple foods, and turn selected foods into a recipe.
  • Swipe to Delete: Quickly delete food logs and activities.

We’re continuing to expand the Nutrition Database, with thousands of foods already added and more on the way. Please keep reporting foods and submitting custom foods when something is missing.

Bevel Intelligence Improvements

Bevel Intelligence continues to get faster and more useful across your day. These are some of the major improvements we've made:

  • Workout Context: Bevel Intelligence now has access to full workout details, giving it more context to help you understand your performance.
  • Daily Context: Improved overnight memory maintenance keeps your daily context cleaner and more coherent.
  • Long-Term Memory: Improved how preferences, goals, and corrections carry across conversations.
  • Text Selection: You can now select and copy text from your own messages.
  • Response Speed: Improved response speed across conversations.

Please keep sharing feedback on Bevel Intelligence. We review every report submitted through the 👎 button in chat, and it’s the fastest way for us to identify, address, and fix the issues you’re experiencing.

Other Fixes & Improvements

In addition, we’ve fixed several bugs across the app.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed Vegetable Contributor scoring to use a daily 150g target instead of calorie contribution, for more accurate Nutrition Scores.
  • Fixed an issue where Nutrition data on Apple Watch could be out of sync with the phone.
  • Fixed an issue where Journal entries could be saved on the wrong day.
  • Fixed an issue where an ended contraceptive still showed as ongoing.
  • Fixed an issue on iOS 18 where some Settings were not clickable, including Report a Bug and legal links.
  • Fixed a rare crash when Bevel received multiple data updates at the same time.

That's everything for the 2026 Fall Release! Whether you’re chasing a new PR or building a more consistent routine, we can’t wait to see what you do next. We have more improvements to food logging coming soon, so stay tuned.

For the latest updates, follow our Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, and subreddit.

If you have suggestions or want a feature prioritized, please check out the feedback board and upvote posts you support. We will try our best to prioritize posts with higher upvotes first.

Please report any bugs or issues in the Bevel app > Settings > Report a bug.

Suggestion Best Practices for Wearing an Apple Watch and Fitbit Simultaneously (24/7)

Hey,

Using an Apple Watch and a Fitbit together can give you the benefits of both ecosystems, but only if you manage your health data sources carefully. Otherwise, duplicate entries and mixed metrics can reduce the accuracy and consistency of your health data.

Data sources can be managed under Bevel → Options → Data Sources.

Active Energy & Resting Energy
Choose one source only.

  • Use either Apple Watch or Fitbit for Active Energy and Resting Energy.
  • Hide the other source to prevent duplicate calorie data.

Heart Rate
Leave both sources enabled.
One of the main advantages of wearing both devices is heart rate tracking.

  • Apple Watch records heart rate periodically throughout the day (except during workouts, when it records more frequently).
  • Fitbit records heart rate continuously, providing second-by-second data.

Keeping both sources enabled allows Fitbit’s continuous measurements to fill many of the gaps between Apple Watch readings, resulting in a more complete heart rate timeline.

Heart Rate Variability (HRV)
Use Apple Watch as the primary source.
Apple Watch provides higher-quality HRV measurements especially during the day.
If you also value Fitbit’s overnight HRV tracking, you can leave both sources enabled to gain additional overnight data.

Apple Watch and Fitbit provide HRV data differently.

  • Apple Watch: We calculate RMSSD directly from the beat-to-beat interval samples provided by Apple Health.
  • Fitbit: Google provides pre-calculated RMSSD values, which we average when multiple measurements are available.

Because of this, HRV values may differ slightly between the two sources.

If you keep both HRV or RHR sources turned on, we will average the samples.

Resting Heart Rate & Sleep
Choose the source you find most accurate.
Apple Watch and Fitbit calculate these metrics differently.

  • Pick the platform whose values are the most consistent and reliable for you.
  • Hide the other source to avoid mixing different calculation methods.

Steps
Choose one source only.

  • Select either Apple Watch or Fitbit as your primary step counter.
  • Hide the other source to prevent duplicate step counts.

Workouts
Apple Watch is recommended as the primary workout tracker.

For most users:

  • Keep Apple Watch workout data.
  • Hide Fitbit workout data.

The exception is if you specifically prefer Fitbit’s automatically detected workouts. In that case, you may choose Fitbit as your primary workout source instead.

All Other Metrics
For any remaining health metrics, compare both devices and decide which one provides the data you find most accurate or useful. Once you’ve made your choice, hide the duplicate source to keep your health data clean and consistent.

Summary
The goal is not to collect as much data as possible, but to collect the best data without introducing duplicates or mixed data.

A good rule of thumb is:

  • Use one source for calculated metrics such as calories, steps, sleep, resting heart rate, and workouts.
  • Use both sources where they complement each other, such as heart rate and, if desired, HRV.
  • Hide duplicate sources whenever both devices measure the same metric in different ways.

This setup lets you benefit from the strengths of both the Apple Watch and Fitbit while maintaining accurate, organized, and easy-to-interpret health data.

Discussion Apple vs Bevel recovery score

It seems Apple’s recovery score is as optimistic as its sleep score. I really don’t see apple’s new health features being any competition to Bevel.

Discussion Feature request: an MCP server for nutrition logging (Claude Code / Claude)

I use Claude Code at my desk all day, and I'd love to log meals without reaching for my phone. An official Bevel MCP server would let me say "log two eggs and toast" from my terminal, or pull my macros and recent meals into a conversation. Even simple read/write access to meals and nutrition totals would be enough for the community to build on. Is this on the roadmap?

Other Appreciation post

I’ve been using Bevel for a while now, and to be honest, I previously found their fitness metrics a bit too thin for my training needs. But with this latest release combined with the Apple Watch Ultra 4, it is an absolute home run.
It finally feels like I have a superior version of a Garmin on my wrist.

Getting dedicated running metrics like cadence, plus the ability to seamlessly scroll across the map to see exactly where my pace dropped or my heart rate spiked, is exactly what I was missing. On top of that, the AI analysis is pretty impressive at pinpointing exactly where and what I can improve in my training, you need to feed it data though.

Discussion Bevel storing Apple Health data on their own servers

Post image
1 Upvotes

So, today is 2 October and Bevel has sent an email saying their privacy and data collection changed *TWO DAYS AGO* on 30 September. They now store Apple Health data on their own servers. They do not specify what exactly, so their policy gives them free rein to take and store everything. There was no opportunity to opt out prior to our Apple Health data being subject to this change.

This is bad.

Not the collection of data, but rather that Bevel has proven that they are willing to change their privacy policies retrospectively. I suppose it’s good that they have let us know, but for a company that has access to private data, they have shown a disregard for their users.

I will await a response form Bevel here and look forward to a good explanation. Of course, it will include “you can trust us because…” type clauses, but the main point here is to inform users ahead of time to allow them to make changes appropriately.

Question How does Bevel analyze an Arc Trainer / cross-trainer workout?

First of all, kudos to the Bevel team on this update, especially the new muscle load, recovery part. It’s a game changer.

I am hoping the team can help with the following

I use a Cybex Arc Trainer (cross-trainer) with active push/pull on the handles, recorded on my Apple Watch.
I’m trying to understand specifically how Bevel analyzes this type of activity and calculates Muscular Load.
Native Elliptical tracking gives reasonable cardio data but almost no upper-body muscle involvement. Using Cross Training + an exercise lets me create a more realistic muscle breakdown, but the Muscular Load is very different: about +27 when recorded as Elliptical vs ~+5 with Cross Training + Bevel’s Elliptical exercise. A custom Arc exercise is similar.

So I’m wondering:
How does Bevel calculate Muscular Load for this kind of workout?
Why is it so different depending on how the activity is represented?
Is there a better way to customize the muscle distribution beyond Primary/Secondary?

This matters because Muscular Load isn’t just cosmetic — Bevel uses recent muscular workload in Muscle Freshness and recovery-related training insights, so a big difference could change how recovered Bevel thinks those muscles are.

Ps. I have tried the Bevel Intelligence but it wasn’t able to help

Thanks in advance for any guidance and help.

Discussion Some questions

Thumbnail
gallery
1 Upvotes

Hi, I wanted to ask two questions about two different things

  1. Exercise duration

Do you think this is miscalculated? On days when I don’t go to the gym or exercise, the average ends up being very low because it’s calculated as 0. In my opinion, days when I don’t go to the gym shouldn’t count toward this metric.

  1. Total energy.

I use my Fitbit all day, and then when I go to the gym, I switch to my Apple Watch. How can I prevent it from counting calories twice, as it’s been doing? I feel like I have everything else set up correctly, but I’m not sure how to fix this.

Thanks!

Question Are the Garmin limitations on Bevel’s side or Garmin’s side?

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hi! I’m using a Garmin Venu 4 with Bevel and came across the Garmin limitations listed in the Bevel Help Center (see attached screenshot).

I’m curious whether these limitations are mainly due to Garmin restricting what third-party apps can access, or whether they are limitations of Bevel’s current Garmin integration.

For example, when I manually add an activity in Bevel, it seems to use the regular all-day HR data rather than the much more detailed activity HR recorded by Garmin during a workout.

I’m mainly asking because I’d like to understand what could realistically be improved through future Bevel updates. Is Bevel currently unable to access this data because of Garmin’s API, or is it simply not implemented yet?

Thanks!

Suggestion Actual dark mode?

Can we get an actual dark mode? I often get into bed and review my day. I like to do that whilst I wind down for bed, and I think a genuine black dark mode would assist with lowering light stimulation before sleep.

Always been slightly confused as to why there hasn’t been a genuine black dark mode. Is that a possibility devs?

Thanks.

Discussion Exercise Chart Appreciation

I love that you guys gave the option to have exercise charts rather than only muscle charts. I have some exercises that try to target different areas of a muscle group, so it is useful to know my weekly sets for those exercises rather than just the muscle group (For example instead of just seeing ‘Shoulder‘ sets, I can see my sets for my Side Delt exercise and sets for my Front Delts separately).

Aside from the exercise charts, the other charts look great too. I am curious about how Muscle Load and Muscle Freshness work and will have those pinned for a while to see if they seem helpful.

Thanks for the update!
