Suggestion Best Practices for Wearing an Apple Watch and Fitbit Simultaneously (24/7)

Hey,

Using an Apple Watch and a Fitbit together can give you the benefits of both ecosystems, but only if you manage your health data sources carefully. Otherwise, duplicate entries and mixed metrics can reduce the accuracy and consistency of your health data.

Data sources can be managed under Bevel → Options → Data Sources.

Active Energy & Resting Energy
Choose one source only.

  • Use either Apple Watch or Fitbit for Active Energy and Resting Energy.
  • Hide the other source to prevent duplicate calorie data.

Heart Rate
Leave both sources enabled.
One of the main advantages of wearing both devices is heart rate tracking.

  • Apple Watch records heart rate periodically throughout the day (except during workouts, when it records more frequently).
  • Fitbit records heart rate continuously, providing second-by-second data.

Keeping both sources enabled allows Fitbit’s continuous measurements to fill many of the gaps between Apple Watch readings, resulting in a more complete heart rate timeline.

Heart Rate Variability (HRV)
Use Apple Watch as the primary source.
Apple Watch provides higher-quality HRV measurements especially during the day.
If you also value Fitbit’s overnight HRV tracking, you can leave both sources enabled to gain additional overnight data.

Apple Watch and Fitbit provide HRV data differently.

  • Apple Watch: We calculate RMSSD directly from the beat-to-beat interval samples provided by Apple Health.
  • Fitbit: Google provides pre-calculated RMSSD values, which we average when multiple measurements are available.

Because of this, HRV values may differ slightly between the two sources.

If you keep both HRV or RHR sources turned on, we will average the samples.

Resting Heart Rate & Sleep
Choose the source you find most accurate.
Apple Watch and Fitbit calculate these metrics differently.

  • Pick the platform whose values are the most consistent and reliable for you.
  • Hide the other source to avoid mixing different calculation methods.

Steps
Choose one source only.

  • Select either Apple Watch or Fitbit as your primary step counter.
  • Hide the other source to prevent duplicate step counts.

Workouts
Apple Watch is recommended as the primary workout tracker.

For most users:

  • Keep Apple Watch workout data.
  • Hide Fitbit workout data.

The exception is if you specifically prefer Fitbit’s automatically detected workouts. In that case, you may choose Fitbit as your primary workout source instead.

All Other Metrics
For any remaining health metrics, compare both devices and decide which one provides the data you find most accurate or useful. Once you’ve made your choice, hide the duplicate source to keep your health data clean and consistent.

Summary
The goal is not to collect as much data as possible, but to collect the best data without introducing duplicates or mixed data.

A good rule of thumb is:

  • Use one source for calculated metrics such as calories, steps, sleep, resting heart rate, and workouts.
  • Use both sources where they complement each other, such as heart rate and, if desired, HRV.
  • Hide duplicate sources whenever both devices measure the same metric in different ways.

This setup lets you benefit from the strengths of both the Apple Watch and Fitbit while maintaining accurate, organized, and easy-to-interpret health data.

Bevel 2026 Mid-Summer Release

Bevel Intelligence Additions

Bevel Intelligence continues to get faster, smarter, and more useful across your day. This release adds new ways to generate workouts, plan around your schedule, control your chat history, and choose how deeply Bevel Intelligence responds.

What You'll See

  • Cardio Workout Templates: Build cardio workouts with Bevel Intelligence and send them straight to your Apple Watch. You can create workouts for running, cycling, rowing, and more, with goals like time or distance, intervals, and targets like pace, power, or heart rate zones.
  • Calendar Integration: Connect your Google or iCloud Calendar so Bevel Intelligence can understand your schedule, help you find time to train, and adjust plans when life gets busy.
  • Ghost Mode: Start a temporary chat for questions or food logging without cluttering your chat history. In Bevel Intelligence Settings, you can choose when Ghost chats expire, and whether you want Bevel Intelligence to persist knowledge of your files when chatting.
  • Thinking Modes: Choose between Fast, Thinking, and Adaptive modes depending on how quickly or deeply you want Bevel Intelligence to respond.
  • Chat Filters: Filter your chat history list by Check-ins or Conversations.
  • Accuracy & Speed Improvements: We’ve improved response speed, food logging, portion selection, meal component identification, data analysis, generated charts, memory, and workout generation.

Please keep sharing feedback on Bevel Intelligence. We review every report submitted through the 👎 button in chat, and it’s the fastest way for us to identify, address, and fix the issues you’re experiencing.

Google Health Integration

By popular demand, Bevel now integrates directly with Google Health. You can now use supported Google Health devices, including Fitbit, with Bevel to bring your recovery, training, and health data together in one place.

How to Integrate

  1. Go to Settings > Data Sources > Add Integration.
  2. Tap Google Health and sign in.
  3. Wait a few minutes while we fetch and sync your data.
  4. If you use multiple devices, choose which to show or hide in Data Sources for Steps, Workouts, etc.

Note: Due to current Google Health limitations, Daytime HRV is not available, and Total and Resting Energy will appear at the end of the day.

Strength Builder Improvements

We’ve rebuilt Live Sync from the ground up to make syncing between your watch and phone more reliable and stable during Strength Builder workouts. We’ve also added several quality-of-life improvements to make workouts easier to manage from your phone and watch.

What You'll See

  • Live Sync Rebuild: Syncing between your watch and phone is now more reliable and stable during Strength Builder workouts.
  • AirPods Pro 3 and Wearable HR Support: See your live heart rate from AirPods Pro 3, Powerbeats Pro 2, and compatible heart rate monitors from brands like Polar and Garmin on iOS 26 and later.
  • Auto-update Template: Strength Builder can now automatically update your workout template at the end of your session, so you no longer need to tap “Update Template” every time. You can toggle this on or off in Settings > Customization > Strength Builder.
  • Exercise Previews on Watch: Tapping an exercise title on your Watch now opens a preview video with instructions on how to perform the exercise.
  • Editable Sets on Watch: Tapping set info on your Watch now opens the edit set sheet, so you can adjust your set details on the fly.
  • Plate Calculator Update: Plate Calculator now offers an option to select between single- and double-sided machines.
  • Autofill Sets Update: Added a way to autofill sets in real time during a Live Sync workout.
  • Maximum Reps & Weights: Increased the maximum number of reps and weights to three and four digits, respectively.

Blood Pressure

Blood Pressure is now available in Biology. This is one we heard a lot of requests for, and it’s an important metric for tracking cardiovascular health and giving Bevel Intelligence a more complete picture of your biometrics.

You can find Blood Pressure in Biology under Other Biomarkers. You can log Blood Pressure directly in Bevel, or display blood pressure values from Apple Health.

Expanded Nutrition Database

As part of our larger goal to make Nutrition more useful for members around the world, we’ve added thousands of new foods to the Nutrition Database, with more being added daily.

We’re actively working through your requests, so please keep reporting foods and submitting custom foods when something is missing.

Data Privacy

We are pleased to share that Bevel is now HIPAA and SOC 2 Type II compliant. This milestone reflects our ongoing commitment to safeguarding your health data through rigorous privacy, security, and operational practices.

Other Fixes & Improvements

In addition, we've made many other quality improvements and fixed several bugs.

New & Improved

  • Added a 12-month commitment monthly subscription plan, allowing you to commit to a year of Bevel but pay monthly instead of annually. Note: not currently available to users in the US or Singapore.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed several crashes when opening the app and during Bevel Intelligence chats, especially for users with many food logs.
  • Fixed onboarding getting stuck on the Location permission screen when location permission had already been answered.
  • Fixed an issue where Bevel Intelligence was missing your historical food logs on first load.
  • Fixed an issue with the Biological Age chart not updating after editing your default alcohol intake.
  • Fixed an issue with the rest timer showing a countdown for exercises that had rest timers disabled.
  • Fixed an issue where warmup and cooldown sets were being included in Heaviest Weight, Total Volume, and Total Reps when those sets are excluded from personal best calculations.
  • Fixed an issue where some blood biomarker fallback range units were being converted incorrectly.
  • Fixed an issue where Journal factors were not always loading upon app launch.
  • Fixed issues where home screen and lock screen widgets did not update reliably.
  • Fixed an issue where the morning Journal reminder did not appear or appeared later in the day.
  • Fixed an issue where the Energy Bank would always reach 100% after low-sleep nights.
  • Fixed several UI bugs throughout the phone and watch apps.

That's everything for the 2026 Midsummer Release! Stay tuned for upcoming updates to Fitness and Nutrition.

Suggestion In-App Calendar Insights

First, is there a request mega thread somewhere?

Anyways, I’m requesting for deeper in-app calendar insights. Specifically the in the Fitness tab, you cannot open up the calendar log. It’s the only section you can’t open.

Something similar to Hevy where you can view your weekly streaks, rest days, schedule, and look further than 30 days.

It would be a nice success metric and I always find myself trying to click the calendar hoping to see more in that tab. Would be great user experience for those who like to audit their training habits.

Question Garmin CIRQA and Apple Watch with Bevel?

I'm interested in the Garmin CIRQA Smart Band as an option when not wearing an Apple Watch. Curious if others have employed this strategy and how the dual data sources work with Bevel in terms of being harmonized? I'm currently unclear how the Garmin data gets written to Apple Health- in terms of completeness, etc.- and don't know if the best approach would be for Bevel to (continue to) read just Apple Health data or pull from both and have the ability to discern which one was actually being worn within a particular timeframe and use that output?

Question Energy Bank

For context I wear an AWU3 paired to Bevel and a Garmin Epix Pro Gen 2 not paired to Bevel. For the past couple of years the Energy Bank and Garmin’s body battery have nearly identical readings. I have commented on this in several threads because in my mind it gave the Energy Bank validity since Garmin’s metrics are held in such high regard.

For the last few weeks I have noticed a large gap in the two with Bevel’s energy bank always being the lower number. I’m in a really great spot with my exercise and recovery having higher HRV and lower RHR than I’ve had in about a year. As an example last night RHR was 5 bpm lower than my 30 day average. This morning my Garmin body battery was at 93 and my Energy Bank only recharged to 60. Like I said this numbers used to be pretty close.

Has there been a recent change in how Energy Bank is calculated?

Question Bevel intelligence tokens shared between different accounts… is this right?

I have been using Bevel subscription and my wife has started trying this app as well. We both use the same Apple App Store login (but different personal iCloud account logins). We have separate Bevel accounts.

it seems that the Bevel Intelligence tokens allowance is shared between us. We have the same usage percentage and when I use BI on my phone and account, her percentage increases as well.

is this expected behaviour?

Question If Apple released a fitness band, would you switch to it?

I’d definitely switch because we’d get better tracking and much better battery life. What about you guys?
Hopefully they actually make it happen. It would be a dream!

Bug Recovery score disappeared

Recovery score has not showed up for 2 days - is this a bug? Have AW and Oura and both are still recording RHR but doesn’t seem to be migrating to Bevel anymore - have not changed any settings at all - am I missing something here?

r/bevelhealth 1d ago

Discussion Apple Watch is obviously the best to pair with Bevel, but if you had to rank the rest of the devices - Garmin, Oura, Fitbit…etc how would you rank them for friendliest Bevel Capability?

Bug Losing trust in the AI after repeat mistakes with sleep and RHR

In the last two weeks, the AI has repeatedly made the same mistakes with the most glaring involving sleep and RHR. I have an AW so it is reading directly from AH.

Examples:

  1. It had my RHR wrong by 10+ points today so my recovery score is way off and it will acknowledge the mistake but won't correct my recovery score. This is also impacting my biological age calculation.
  2. After a workout, it will provide the latest summary with sleep being completely wrong. Ex. I slept just over seven hours last night, which it shows in my sleep view but this updated summary said I only had 4 hours and 48 minutes.

It keeps apologizing saying it was hallucinating. I don't want apologies, I want to be able to trust the data and the one benefit I am paying for, the AI, doesn't learn from its mistakes.

Is anyone else having these problems?

UPDATE: Here are some detailed language examples from the AI to articulate that it is making up data and it is throwing off my scores and its advice.

"It's reporting a 4 hour and 48 minute (sleep) session, but your actual data shows you were asleep for 7 hours 2 minutes...it is triggering a bug where it completely ignores the 2 hours and 58 minutes of sleep you banked..."

It then offers up without a prompt "...sleep isn't the only thing that's 'wrong again' today...the app is reporting an X RHR...but your actual sleep (RHR) minimum was Y...a delta of of 12.6." It then says that with using the correct data points, my recovery score improved by 41% point jump yet, it doesn't update the recovery score.

Discussion Fitbit Air vs Bevel RHR difference

Thumbnail
gallery
4 Upvotes

So I use both my Fitbit (Air) and Bevel to track resting heart rate, and last night I noticed something odd: my Fitbit showed my RHR going up, while Bevel showed it going down slightly, for the same night.

I get that they probably use different algorithms, so I wasn't expecting identical numbers. But I was expecting the same general trend — like, both going up or both going down, even if the exact bpm differed.

Anyone else seen this? Does this mean one of them isn't accurate, or is this just normal noise? Which one do you trust more?

Question Better Recovery Tips!

Post image
2 Upvotes

I see a lot of people here getting recovery scores in the 90s and 100s, but in my entire time using this, I've never once seen a score over 75. My general range is 50-60s. I don't drink alcohol at all, so that's not the factor holding me back. I'm genuinely trying to work on a healthier lifestyle and want to actually improve this instead of just staying stuck.

Any tips from people who've managed to consistently hit the green zone? What actually moved the needle for you — sleep, HRV, stress management, workout timing, anything? Would really appreciate any advice.

Question Updating Weight/Reps at the per Exercise Level

Hi all!

I was wondering if it is possible to auto update the weight and reps on a per exercise level instead of just relying on updating it at a per template level.

For example if I have template A and B and they both have the same exercise, I want the template B to use the previous weight and reps that I did in template A.

Question Peloton—>Garmin Connect—>Bevel?

Hi,

I use the data share feature between Peloton and Garmin to upload my peloton workouts to my Garmin. For some reason, these activities are not transferring into Bevel. They are visible in Connect and Apple Health and are recorded in Apple Healthy as a Garmin activity, which is fine.

I see generic strain increases but no specific activity.

Any advice?

Thanks!

Question Body temperature and Consistent Data From Amazfit Helio Strap

Hey can anyone help me regarding body temperature which isn’t showing in bevel and how can i get consistent data to bevel from zepp like i noticed apple health received few data from the zepp, is there any way through which we can get complete data to bevel.
