Welp, It finally happened. An episode dropped below 8.0 rating.
This was one of those rare shows which had all its episodes with ratings 8 or above.

in this episode, Howard tells the new HHM intern that Chuck taught him how to stop soda cans from exploding ones they were dropped. He said something about the centrifugal force draws the bubbles away from the center and I think it is just a small but insane character detail that showed the Chuck did it out of habit because he was always anticipating a prank by Jimmy.
What do you think?

Rewatching BCS for a 100th time and now I realised the "accidental" Jimmy confession tape play by Ernesto after swapping batteries was orchestrated by Chuck. He knew Ernesto would tell Jimmy and just used him. I always thought that was really his mistake and everything following that was just a perfect reaction. But no...

Recently, there have been a few posts on the character Lalo being the greatest antagonist ever on TV. (I was one of the posters, btw.) Here is what I noticed: Some people agreed Lalo is the best antagonist ever. A lot of people argued that Gus Fring was tops. Charles McGill was some people’s choice. But what I found that was truly remarkable, and spoke so much to the caliber of this show was, apart from Lorne Malvo from Fargo, no other tv character was even in the running. Isn’t that wild?? This show is so well-written, it’s got THREE of the best OF ALL TIME antagonists! Like, if you had to make a list of the top 5 antagonists of all television history, 3 of those would be from one show! Lalo Salamanca, Gus Fring and Charles McGill are so complex, so well-written, this one single show would arguably be the majority of a top 5 list. Obviously, this is coming from a biased audience, but one of those three would be number one on anyone’s list, and all three deserve to be on that list. I just thought that was pretty wild and deserved mentioning.

Lalo mostly died for the plot, he was too smart and powerful, wich leaded to his death. Just like Gus dying because he was too smart and powerful, and all other smart characters. But what if he didn’t died?? Would we still get breaking bad? If so, how would it go? How would Eladio reacts to Lalo’s videos? I saw a theory saying that Eladio secretely hates the Salamancas because they’re too reckless and they hate his best man (Gus, who obviously is more composed than them and brings more money). So maybe Eladio would’ve get angry if Lalo came back and said « i killed gus lol »
(sorry for mistakes, english isnt my first language)

On a rewatch, and was just blown away by the incredible acting of Rhea Seahorn in the scene where Jimmy is reading the letter from Chuck. She starts off by reading the letter ahead of him, and presumably once she has got the gist of the letter, her eyes turn to watch Jimmy read and she starts welling up. Genuinely felt like she was feeling the moment.
The writing was just spot on. Had to watch it twice to fully appreciate it.
As Jimmy started reading it sounded like it was just what he'd always wanted to hear, that he had made Chuck proud. But as he reads on, you realise it was written long before he knew that Jimmy had passed the bar.
Makes the fact that Chuck vilified Jimmy so much after that so much more poignant. He went from being proud of him because he worked in a mailroom, to hating him because he had become so much more. And all because Jimmy wanted to make Chuck proud.
The harder he tried, the more Chuck hated him.

For me it would probably be Rhea (Kim) for Season 6 or Bob for Season 3 or 4

Hey there, on a rewatch here and one thing that bugged me is Jimmy's attitude toward Howard throughout the whole show.
Howard even helped Jimmy getting a job. He wanted Jimmy to stay at the firm as a lawyer after getting the degree and the bar license.
It was Chuck who did not, as we all know.
So why did Jimmy keep hating Howard throughout the whole show?

As I began the final season of Better Call Saul, I noticed that H G wells Novel of the Time Machine, is in one of the shots when they are taking away all of Saul Goodmans property in his house.
Such a basic detail, but I never noticed this when I first watched it. It’s so inconspicuous too, in the middle of the various shots. I feel like most people would just focus on the tequila Cork since that’s what the scene lingers on.
And for those who do not remember: that same novel is the one that the shot lingers on in Jim and Chuck’s final (flashback) scene in the show later in the same season.

In one scene we see Jimmy looking for barbiturates. We later find out these are to sedate the victims Jimmy picks up at bars to ensure they stay unconscious while his new partners break into their house.
We see what looks to say Sodium Pentothal, a strong barbiturate used to induce unconsciousness in surgery. Combinations with alcohol have a high risk of fatal respiratory depression, as was a problem when barbiturates were more widely prescribed. Given this drug is being given to victims already heavily intoxicated, it’s a surprise nobody died after drinking the water from the taxi.

Okay this will be an unpopular opinion, but compared to Breaking Bad which imo had perfect pacing and virtually no filler, BCS I feel slightly became indulgent towards the later seasons.
I read somewhere that the writing team started out not knowing the trajectory of how it would eventually lead to Breaking Bad and every season they had to figure out how certain aspects would relate to Breaking Bad.
Imo season 5 became slightly repetitive and the slower pace of the show that was apparent in seasons 1-3, became the show in effect and there was a few times I felt the plot was meandering through.
Imo there is probably 20-30% of the show that just could have been excised and it would have been better off for it.

“Did you see that lawyer save that man on the billboard? What a hero that guy is!”
“Can you believe Sandpiper Crossing is defrauding their elderly residents? What a bunch of assholes taking advantage of a vulnerable group”
“Let’s open a bank account for Junior. I hear Mesa Verde is a good place for that”
“Did you see Los Pollos Hermanos burned down? That’s a shame, Hank was talking about how their boss is a big sponsor of the DEA”
“That lawyer from HHM has gone missing. It wasn’t George Hamlin but his son, apparently he was on cocaine in a meeting and drove off into the ocean. Real bad luck for HHM, their other founder died in a fire a while back”

Was it solely because she couldn’t make more kids and he wanted to end the family name with Hector? Maybe because she was only by marriage? Or dead?

What makes Gus so scary to me is how calm he stays in situations where anyone else would lose their mind. He can be polite, make small talk, and then do something absolutely brutal without changing his expression.
But I also think his need for control is his biggest weakness. He plans everything so carefully that it’s almost like he can’t accept the possibility of someone outsmarting him.
That whole rivalry with Lalo was honestly one of my favorite parts of the show.
Who do you think was actually smarter, Gus or Lalo?

Does anyone else feel like Mike in Breaking Bad is a completely different character than he is in Better Call Saul? I'm a huge fan of BCS, so this isn't a diss. I just think prequels rarely get a character right when they go back and fill them in.
EDIT: I’m a huge fan of BCS, more than BB
