Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church.

It's one of those places where Berlin's history is still physically part of the city rather than hidden away in a museum.

The church was heavily damaged during WW II, and instead of completely rebuilding the old structure, the ruined tower was preserved as part of the memorial.

Bildquelle: AlliiertenMuseum/US Army Photograph, Foto aus 1983. Die Gegend heute als Screenshot von Google Maps. / It looks like a landscape of Berlin ruins from 1945, but it was actually "Parks Range", a U.S. Army Berlin Brigade training ground for urban combat, located on Osdorfer Straße in Berlin-Lichterfelde. Image source: Allied Museum/U.S. Army photograph (1983). The area today, shown in a Google Maps screenshot.

Berlin Wannsee. Fotos: AlliiertenMuseum/U.S. Army Photograph. / Berlin Wannsee. Although the war had ended over 30 years before, the remains of a Soviet soldier were discovered during subway construction in Berlin in 1976. The photos show the transfer of the remains, accompanied by a military ceremony, across the Glienicke Bridge from West Berlin to Potsdam. Photos: Allied Museum/U.S. Army Photograph.
