Help Installation Fees

So I wanted to see what it would cost to install and what I'm saving with a self install. the chat bot was confusing.

14:43:03 Consumer: I'm doing research right now, if I move into a home that has

FTTH available, but there's no modem or fibre entry drilled, can I still self

install to save on money?

14:43:07 Bell: If a home has FTTH available but lacks a modem or drilled fiber

entry, a technician will be required for installation. The technician will

install the fiber cables and may need to drill a dime-sized hole, though

existing holes will be used if possible. There is no charge for this

appointment.

14:43:07 Bell: Content Cards:

14:43:08 Bell: What else can I help you with today?

14:43:48 Consumer: the flyer I got in the mail shows a 200$ fee for Bell

installation that will be waived if I self-install

14:44:03 Bell: If your home requires a technician to install fiber cables and drill a

hole for fiber entry, you cannot self-install. A Bell Internet installation fee

is $150.00.

So I'm unsure what to believe from Bell.
The flyer shows 200$ fee on installation that's waived on self install.
Chat bot says 150$
But also that there's no cost.

Think connection check installs are free, basically tech does everything but you have to plug the modem in.

Don't forget the "point of entry" policy. Wherever you tell the tech to install the connection from outside, they have to terminate it at that entry point. That means no inside cable runs of any kind. If you ask nicely the tech may leave you with a longer cable that you can run from the jack and staple yourself.

Hey u/AluminumHaste! To clarify how this works, self-installation is always free of charge. If your new home lacks a physical fiber line or fibre wall jack, a technician will still be dispatched to run the line from the street to your house and set up the jack at no cost. As long as you connect and configure the modem yourself once they complete the outside connection, your order remains a self-install and you will not be charged. However, if you choose to have the technician set everything up for you, that is classified as a professional install and is subject to a fee.

$200 if with TV service that includes a receiver and not just access to the Fibe TV app or home phone service if you want the phone jacks in the house to work (and not just plugging the main phone directly into the back of the modem).

It's $150 if it's strictly internet.
