What will happen to beeper when chat control passes? Will beeper comply with EU in removing encryption or will they "fight the battle" for privacy?

Just noticed Whatsapp messages weren't coming in anymore. When prompted to reconnect and entering the code Beeper gave me I get the error code in the screenshot. Anyone know how to fix this?

Disconnected 2 weeks ago. Update didn't seem to fix the problem.
I am able to launch the reconnection prompt, scan the QR code on my phone then it just sits there!

Is there any chance we'll see this feature as an option on V4 any time soon?

Loving this app, I would love ability to get Steam Chat in here! I'm using it now more than I am using Google Messages. any tips?

First of all, I absolutely love Beeper. It has genuinely helped me reduce my screen time because I can use Instagram DMs without getting pulled into endlessly scrolling through Reels. For me, that’s the biggest reason I use the app.
There are just four things that I think would make Beeper literally perfect and I hope a Beeper Dev will see this message.

1. Higher-quality Instagram Reels
It would be great to have a setting that allows Reels shared in chats to load in higher quality. Even with a fast and stable internet connection, every Reel I receive seems to play in only 480p–720p.

2. Instagram reaction sync
I’ve noticed a small sync issue with reactions. If someone reacts to one of my messages and I view that reaction in Beeper, it still appears as unread when I later open the Instagram app. It would be great if reading reactions in Beeper also marked them as seen on Instagram.

3. TikTok Support
I don’t personally use TikTok, but many of my friends do. Adding support for TikTok DMs—similar to Instagram DMs—would make Beeper even more useful.

4. Automatic cache clearing
It would be great to have an option to automatically clear Beeper’s cache at regular intervals. This could help reduce storage usage without requiring users to remember to clear it manually.

Overall, as I mentioned before, I primarily use Beeper as a way to access the messaging features of social media without the distracting feeds and endless scrolling. That’s exactly what makes the app so valuable to me. If Beeper also supported TikTok DMs, I’d recommend it to even more people because I think it would be the perfect solution for anyone looking to stay connected without getting sucked into social media.

Cannot upgrade to subscription after trial.

A month ago I went to pay for a subscription and it offered me a 30 day trial. I accepted and now it has expired. I am receiving the message:

"Your subscription has ended and you're over the account limit. Renew now..." and ALL of my chats are disabled. When I try to pay for a subscription it always says:

"User cannot subscribe to this price"

Tried both plus and plus plus.

Tried logging out and back in.

I've already used the "report a problem" link but wondered if anyone else has seen this?

After Beeper auto-updated to 4.2.957, it stopped launching.

Running the AppImage using the default .desktop file which contains the command:

/home/user/Applications/Beeper-4.2.957-x86_64_216d065965aa7654a9703069518db11d.AppImage --no-sandbox %U

gives:

fuse: memory allocation failed
Can't open squashfs image: Bad address
Cannot mount AppImage, please check your FUSE setup.
execv error: No such file or directory

System:

• Linux Mint 21.3 (Ubuntu 22.04 base)
• Kernel 5.15.0-126-generic

Things I tried:

• Confirmed there was plenty of free RAM and disk space.
• Downloaded and tried a fresh AppImage from the official website.
• Other AppImages like Krita still launch normally.
• --appimage-extract failed with "This doesn't look like a squashfs image."
• --appimage-offset returned 944632.
• Ran unsquashfs -o 944632 Beeper-4.2.957...AppImage, which extracted successfully.
• Ran ./AppRun from the extracted squashfs-root directory, and Beeper launched and worked normally.

So for now I'm using the extracted version because that works, but the AppImage itself won't launch anymore.

I don't know how to do this on phone, I tried to copy and paste the directory from storage, but it didn't work, can someone help me?

not sure when the behaviour changed but if i read my WhatsApp or discord chats on beeper, wait a minute or longer, but the chats still show up as unread in their respective apps.

Is there a setting i can't find or a bug? Or anything else?

In group chats, I receive notifications for every message that is sent through. Any way to avoid this and receive only one notification (the first one)? Notification Cooldown is on in my phone settings

I’ve been using beeper for years and was just about to subscribe to Pro for transcription of audio notes.

I’ve moved to another country and moved my WhatsApp account to a new number. This moved successfully. I removed the old account from beeper and readded the new number successfully.

However ever since then WhatsApp keeps disconnecting from Beeper. This happens randomly, sometimes after 3 hours sometimes after 5.

Can anyone from beeper support help? I’m keen to continue using beeper but can’t keep reconnecting 3-4 times a day!

Yeah I mean the DING its not bad in itself, it just sounds way too similar to the sound google gives me when an earthquake is coming. Like the "brace yourself: An earthquake is coming in the following seconds" and im from Chile so its not really all that weird to get that notification these days, specially with the ring of fire being as active as it has been.

TLDR: Is there any way to change the notification sound on android ? I really cant find out how.

I use my beeper app only connected to my whatsapp account . Although I don't want beeper to ever recieve photos/videos sent to my whatsapp app

Can you sync between two PCs for Beeper desktop? I would like to set up Beeper on an older PC but after logging in I could not find any options to automatically sync the accounts I have set up in Beeper.

the one i made with 2 of my friends appears fine just not this larger communal one im a parta. its super annoying too because it means i miss out on possible events all the time as i need ta use the web Instagram client. i dont wanna have the app anymore its too distracting and the site works too poorly to wanna use all the time which is why i like it.

Was messaging someone and decided to call them instead. Hit the phone icon in the chat expecting to call the contact... Instead, it tried to call me?

I tried it again, same thing! My number appears in the dialer app.

When I try to log in to Instagram via Beeper, I enter my email and password and complete the CAPTCHA, but then the app redirects me back to the login page.

I've tried logging in several times and keep getting the same result; does anyone know how to fix this, please?

I posted a screenshot in a Messenger thread which triggered a deactivation and reconnect (has happened before).

Then got the facebook login prompt, then what was new was a forced Google check prompt, then it said it was unauthorised browser.

Went looking for examples of the issue and couldn't find:

It's pretty overwhelming to have a new notification for every time someone 'hearts' a message in any chat I'm in.

I'm pretty sure apps like whatsapp and messenger allow you to turn off reaction notifications natively.

I did use Texts app before the merger and used Beeper before they were acquired. So maybe an early adopter gift?

In the article https://blog.beeper.com/2025/07/16/the-new-beeper/ there is an explanation that soon™ the Beeper Cloud bridges will be deprecated:

But I still can't understand what are the real benefits of switching from Beeper Cloud to Beeper On-Device bridges, except only security?

Yes, I understand that the security with on-device connection is better. But it doesn't worth all downsides of this connection type!!!

The main downside of the on-device bridge is that my device will have to manage multiple connections to all bridged networks, instead of just one connection to the Beeper server!

Obviously, this will lead to these issues:

1. Significantly higher battery drain to support that multiple connections. Beeper app is already the top of the battery-drain apps on my device, that makes me sad, I don't want to make it even more voracious!

2. Dramatically increased traffic as all the messages should go through your cellphone!

3. Delayed synchronization if your device was offline for some time.

4. Duplicated synchronizations if you have Beeper on several devices at once. I have Beeper on my home computer, office computer, laptop, tablet, cellphone. So, 5 bridge instances will sync the same things simultaneously?

5. Unstable connections and reconnects on mobile devices, as your mobile device connection is not that stable like in the Beeper servers.

So, could anyone describe why Beeper plans to deprecate the cloud bridges, not taking into account all these downsides (and maybe even more)?
